Latest Travis Henry news (1 Viewer)

Can we get anyone to chime in as soon as Broncos practice today with his status?

I love a good legal/moral debate as much as the next guy, or more, as someone who drafted Henry (without knowledge of his proclivity to love em and leave em), but all the drug trial talk is entertaining up until about this time on Thursday when I become much more concerned about his ribs and knee.

Not that the board needs more threads, and we wouldn't want to give Henry the satisfaction... but perhaps a Henry legal thread and a Henry: Status for Week 10 thread?

Fantasy Spin:

Jeez, now the league is stadning up for guys like Henry? This is part of the process, and it was expected. It still looks like Henry's case won't be decided until the end of the month, though it could drag out past that point.
That is what I just saw today. Bottom of the page, not sure how reliable.
Actually, its the other way around.the NFL has him dead as a doornail.they want to kill him off,now...they don't want this BS to be dragged out in court..they don't think there is a defense to the failed test, that its a foregone conclusion in a water tight case that Henry failed a test and that the Broncos should not be paying him anymore money..The nfl isn't taking sides with Henry, quite the contrary.their basically saying is a frivolous suit against the NFL, one that has no legs to stand on,and thus, should be toss out on its ear.

at least thats how I take it..

The NFL pushed back the hearing date, they're not budging anymore.

Henry is dead to the NFL...

That is what I kinda thought. Not sure why that site would post that. Seems silly, and way off from what is said around here. If the NFL want to drop it, I would think it would have been done, and no arguements.

Thursday update from KFFL:

Broncos | Henry misses practice Thursday

Thu, 8 Nov 2007 14:24:07 -0800

Bill Williamson, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 8. He is questionable to play Week 10.

maybe I can use Selvin Young with - Cotchery, Randy Moss and Earnast Graham on bye.

If Selvin plays what kind of numbers are we looking at?

I'm sure that all Selvin owners (and I am one) would love to discuss this - but lets keep this to Henry news. There are plenty of Young threads out there.Tomorrow should now be the biggest sign of what to expect out of Henry. Any follow up/post practice scraps of news regarding Henry's health, ribs, knee, swelling, icing, etc. would be appreciated if any locals have got it...

 If I play him, they'll sit him. If I sit him, he'll play. I just know it.

this guy has ruined what has been an otherwise fun fantasy season for me. Between his 9 children and pot smoking habits I didnt think he could make me any more disappointed. But i was wrong, now he he's hurt and we can't get a read on his availability. eff. :X

Travis Henry (knee) missed his second straight practice Friday.

"He’s still a little bit too sore (to practice)," Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan said. "We’ll see how he is (Friday)." That's an indication that if Henry doesn't practice Friday, there's a good chance he'll sit out against the Chiefs.

They have a Typo in heading...Thursday not Friday

Honestly, as an owner of both, I would like to see Henry sit this one out and see Selvin put up some good numbers again. I won't discuss SY predictions here, but I think they would be better than Henry.

GAME PLAN: Denver's game plan will change depending on QB Jay Cutler's health. Even if Cutler plays, some of the bootleg plays and passes designed to get him outside of the pocket might be limited. No matter if Cutler or Patrick Ramsey plays, the Broncos need to establish a running game. Denver hasn't gotten much going on the ground the past few weeks.

INJURY IMPACT: RB Travis Henry didn't practice Wednesday, but he has insisted his knee injury is not serious. He has a good chance to play this week.

I own westy, henry and brandon jacobs, and graham. I got the thomas jones owner to trade me straight up for henry Im glad this worthless piece of poo is off my team.

as an owner of both I would like to see Henry suspended. at least Young is healthy

What a complete waste of roster space this bum turned out to be.
I dunno about that. Henry is averaging 4.5 YPC and 82.9 YPG (9th best in the league)He has outproduced a number of very good backs this year.
Can you name the "Very good Backs" he's outproduced With 1 TD? Remember, he was a 2nd round pick in most leagues. He's a waste of space considering where he was drafted.I'll bet you the list of RB's drafted after him outproducing him is longer than the your list.

I assumed Scooby Doo was talking about Henry being a "waste of space" on the Broncos roster. Perhaps he was referring to his own fantasy roster. If that's the case, then, yes, he has been a fantasy bust due to the lack of TD's.

Sounds like someone needs to join a league with conditional lineup requests (aka "backups").

I am a Henry and Young owner.

Bottom line, Henry has done nothing since week 4, unless you like 6 pts from your RB1 or RB2 position. He is also not part of the passing game. Denver will be runned on taking time from DEN's offense. Check DEN's schedule below. It is tough especially with only 2 home games left if you don't play week 17 and the two home games are against TEN and KC. The only one I see soft is HOU. Denver will be playing from behind often which means they will pass more.

Sun 11/11 at Kansas City 1:00 pm

Mon 11/19 Tennessee 8:30 pm

Sun 11/25 at Chicago 4:15 pm

Sun 12/2 at Oakland 4:05 pm

Thu 12/13 at Houston 8:15 pm

Mon 12/24 at San Diego 8:00 pm

I need to drop two players this week to pick a K and a DEF Player, and am planning to drop T. Henry.

The Bears' run defense isn't very good anymore and the Raiders are terrible against the run. Whoever is starting at RB for Denver should do well those two weeks.

I agree and maybe OAK will be a better game but CHI has a decent offense and will put up pts which I think DEN goes to the passing game, which leaves Henry out. Or Henry gets hurt in the second or third quarter, as usual! ;-)My dilemma is I need to drop two players to address BYEs. I expect to win easily this week so I'm planning for the rest of the season, maybe that's why I'm little more bias. I see dropping T. Henry more low risk than my other options (I'm planning to drop Holmes too). Thanks for the quick response....

Sounds like we have a definite date as to when Henry's fate for this season will be announced - at least for now:

Meanwhile, Henry should soon find out his fate on a possible NFL drug suspension. Henry is likely to know whether he will be suspended for a year or if he has won his appeal before Denver plays at Chicago on Nov. 26.

Henry's appeal is scheduled to be heard Nov. 16 at Phoenix. The NFL could rule on the appeal in a matter of days, but Henry likely would be available to play Nov. 19 against the Tennessee Titans, his former team.

aka the # 1 rushing defense in the league. It just keeps getting better.

We need some wild rumors and rampant speculation-this sounds like a job for The Shark Pool! Who thinks Henry will actually play?

How many times this year has Henry been a GTD? Twice? One game he played, one game he sat.....he sits this one.

Wouldn't mind. PPR league owners that have SY should see some above average point totals, as Selvin is a better receiver out of the backfield.

Henry was limited at practice today. From RotoWorld:

Travis Henry (questionable, knee) returned to a limited practice Friday.

Henry remains a game-time decision against the Chiefs, and it's anyone's guess whether the swelling in his knee will go down prior to game time. Selvin Young has a good chance to start and makes a strong flex if Henry sits.

I own both Henry and Young, but I'm sitting them both to play Hackett. I'll also be at the game, so I hope Henry does play the whole game. KC's D has a much better chance to contain Henry, who seems to have really lost something (maybe just the lingering injury?) than Young, much quicker and explosive. KC tends to struggle bigtime to contain the quick RBs.

 I really like the big play potential Young brings to the game. A totally different element that Henry brings IMO.

I'm starting Young with confidence..he's guaranteed to see a lot of action

I know you didn't ask, but if Henry sits, play Selvin Young! If he starts, he's good for 100 combined yards and AT LEAST 1 TD.

Do not play hackett over Young...just DON'T!

If you own both Henry and Young (as I do), you have plenty of time before you have to make that decision.

Thanks for that info. I'm sure that helps Henry / Young owners make a decision about their teams
