Law Students Want to Postpone Exams because of Trauma (1 Viewer)

RMH is Ramsay Hunt Experience.
Makes sense.
I dropped the "Experience" and focused on the consonants because the name is kind of cliched and derivative. He could have just asked not to be self-banned and exercised some self-restraint.

Sounds like an alleged rapist to me.
OK then.
Have you heard about Craig James while he was at SMU?
What's SMU?

It is time you consider teaching, in that profession your attitudes are well accepted
Do you deny that this sounds like something the worst of your tenured coworkers would suggest?
Absolutely. I would be shocked if anyone around here suggested this.
Well, I applaud your colleagues. I bet the Denver middle school teachers organizing protests would be on board.

Good information to know so if I'm ever looking to hire a lawyer who graduated from Columbia, Harvard or Georgetown I can ask them about their view on this.

Does the postponement apply just to minority students? Can whites be traumatized by the decisions not to indict too? It's likely that those students who didn't ask for this will be lumped in with the procrastinators. Can't they just man up and call in a bomb threat?

Who are these Deans? Dean Wormer from Animal House or Dean Ulich from Revenge of the Nerds? Embarrassing.

white people can claim they were traumatized by the realization that the Apple computer wasn't really built in a garage

My evidence teacher just no showed the last 4 days before his final to go protest the Garner decision. That's f'd when I asked him three days before the final, during his office hours, stupid standard #### like the format and the final, number of questions, and how he likes his essays written. He never replied because he went to go brandish his claymore. Oh, then we show up the day of, and instead of the three hour final it should have been per the schedule and credit hour limit, it was four? #### that.

tldr. It sucks for all of us, boo hoo columbia students, and the law school system kind of sucks.

I guess you need to check your privilege and patriarchy.

The lawyers of the future need "trauma centers" to ease their pain regarding, what they deem to be, an unfair ruling?
Oh yea, these hacks are ready to be in the courtroom.

They only take one exam all flippin' semester, pathetic.
Well, that's not true.

This is one of the weirdest threads on this board.
At least it isn't about True Detective.
Good point.

Hey guys, could we once and for all understand the following: most lawyers don't ever set foot in a courtroom. I'm OK with the lawyer-bashing--though I think y'all need fresher material--and have already stated that I find these requests insane, but let's try at least to start with a better knowledge base.

xoxo

Agreed. The lawyers who actually go into the courtroom are more like superheroes. You can't expect everyone to live up to that kind of standard.

I hated lawyer-bashing and found it stale until the material became really fresh to me.

Then I just hated them.

Generally.

We had a friend in moot court get told he'd make a great trial lawyer. I didn't fully get it until years later. :lmao: :lmao:

But this cat worked so hard, and was told this by an existing lawyer, so I still hate lawyers. Crapping upon and hazing people during moot court was so lame. I don't want your frat, fellas. I did that ten years earlier. And telling me about your love of Public Enemy and self-importantly castigating two punk rock kids that just happened to be in your moot court after a weird racial incident at our school? Now you're a blowhard, and when I keep running into people of your profession during school that are, I'm liable to judge. <_<

Regardless, this cat's -- the trial lawyer's -- imitation in the bar afterwards of his opposition was about the most angry, observant, funniest thing you've ever heard. I later learned he was an AF guy who had managed to get the entire side of his stomach and chest emblazoned with a slightly off-pink unicorn tattoo because he lost a bet.

Loved seeing that.

You're only laughing because you don't have to pay the dry cleaning bill on a week's worth of capes.
I buy generic and just scotchgard them. Tears, bile, derision, they all wipe away clean, and when they start looking the slightest bit threadbare, well I just toss them out and grab another.
Good tip. I just hate the feeling of the scotchgard-treated fabric on my skin. If I wanted that feeling, I wouldn't buy capes made out of baby seal in the first place.

In ten years, when you have a full back of hair, I'm bumping this post.

Thought I'd pop in since we were all chatting about this today before one of our exams. SLS opinion: seriously Columbia? lolz.

I guess the last two days since the "die in" with 100 of your classmates and a dozen of your professors have brought closure?
No. We just think postponing our exams like we're special isn't the best way to promote change. There's more coming from #SLS next quarter to look out for. We're still young enough to believe we can be agents of positive change!

All of us are young enough to believe we can be positive agents for change. The question is how.

Megyn Kelly has ripped these "cupcake" students a couple times now that I've seen.

Actually I just came in here to say she hot
