League Management Sites-What is the best one (1 Viewer)

I have been using Maverick software which you can find at www.synsport.com for the last few years. Their service is second to none (as in responding to your question on their chat board within minutes) and the base software has all kinds of unique goodies. I'll write more about it later.
Looks like it's a good site. I'm looking at starting a dynasty league, our redraft league can only be modified so many times before you're begging for more ( redraft , to 1 keeper, to rule change to add PPR).I am looking for a good site to manage this ( was using Rotoworld for redraft).I'll post my dynasty question in another forum ( transitioning a league to something more than redraft)
One of the best parts of the Maverick software is it's flexibility. I would suspect it can handle any kinds of rules that you can come up with. Many times the core developers have worked on solving an issue with a customer in their chat forums until everything is spot-on for their specific league. The reports you can generate are fantastic and many are sortable over seasons dating back to '97. My league has stats on it that go back to 2000. Having a Hall of Fame and Hall of Shame for six full seasons is pretty cool.
I spent a little time checking this out, but didn't see this covered - Can you load records from previous years when the league was not with the Maverick software so that your league records are correct from the start of your league?
If you have the teams and the records you can build entire seasons back to 1997 I believe.

I have been playing fantasy football for many years and virtually have been on most management sites. Mostly MFL, CBS, and RT Sports.

In my opinion RT Sports is head and shoulders above the rest. My local league has used this site for 8 years running and we couldn't be happier.

Easy to use, very organized, versatile, prompt responses if a problem does arrise.

+1 more for Maverick www.synsport.com

technically, this is only the 2nd year in operation for Maverick as a company/business/service. the program began as an add-on to FFLM back in the early 2000's, and as it grew, so did the need for them to launch their own application/service. i have been using them since 2002 and have been through my share of bumps in the road. however, the service is now fully functional and the major technical hurdles that used to exist for new users have been eliminated. Maverick is a powerful, flexible, and easy to use FF software/application and it is only going to get better as the team continues to add more and more "wish list" items from the community.

like i said, it was a little bit of a bumpy road for us Renegade/Maverick old-timers to get to where we are today. however, i had faith in the development team's goal/vision for the project and they have achieved most everything they have set out to in developing the most powerful and flexible FF league manager out there.

Another Maverick/Synsport user here. I commish 3 leagues with them and am in another 1 as co-commish. If anyone takes pride in the history of their league, i don't know how you can go with anyone other than Synsport. I know some people said that the owner, John, can rub them the wrong way, and I will be the first to agree, but the software itself is by far the best IMO.

I'm in Fanstar leagues and MFL leagues, and I hate both. Fanstar is quirky and buggy IMO, with not much new each year. MFL is just flat out boring to me with all you can do with Synsport. I haven't done much with my leagues yet simply because I don't have the time.

Cybergeek to answer your question they are currently working on a bidding module Ebay style, that would work exactly as you hvae it. It should be ready for the season opener but I don't want to speak for them.

Honestly check out the post above for some of the details, but I just wanted to add some more.

By the way the league plaque that everyone has swiped :bag: , started from Synsport.

Does Synsport Support Blind-Bidding Auctions for In-Season waivers. I like to look and feel and the # of reports they offer so I would consider it for next season but I did not ready anything about supporting blind-bid auctions?

Hey there... I'm one of the developers at Synsport so I'll answer you're question... We're feverishly working to have auction bidding online for the 2007 season. It's a highly requested feature and there has been extensive discussion on how best to implement it in our "bug" report here. Rayoder is the lead on making this happen and I'll highlight one of his comments from the discussion which should answer your question:

The auction process consists of two phases, the declaration window and the bidding window. Let's say that this is for waivers and it is in the middle of the season. First, in the declaration window (maybe on Tuesday), all of the teams can select which players they would like to have available to bid on via the auction. There are no obligations to bid on that player, but he is now eligible. Second, in the bidding window (maybe Thursday - Saturday), all of the players that were declared are now listed on the right side of the snapshot I showed above. From this list of players you can select who you would like to make a bid on. I plan to add a blind feature later, but right now this is an open auction and as a result you can see the current bids for the players.
I don't know when "later" is but frankly, once the auction framework is in place, small variations are easier to implement. Obviously, the implementation is still in work and any input is welcome. Best place to do that is in the post where the initial feature request was made. The fact that potential customers are going elsewhere because of a single feature puts that feature pretty high on our priority list so your input is welcome. Thanks!!! and let me know if you have any other questions.

So far I have only used ESPN and this year it's free, so like that!

The only real negative is that they have had overloaded server issues the first week of each of the 3 seasons I have used them.

This will be my first year with in an MFL league. I don't like the layout as much, but it is WAY more customizable. I love the doubleheader option (takes some of the "luck" factor out ie. second highest scoring team gets a loss or the second lowest scoring team gets a win). We are doing an online auction that will last 20 days. I am really looking forward to this to see how it goes.

I took a quick look. They are much higher priced than others, and I did not see any support for auctions. What features make them worth the additional $$?

 $120 with live scoring??? Gotta be much better then MFL at $69.00

i know this...BoDogFantasy.com will be FREE for all this year and will run the same or better system as xpertsports.com has had the last few year...very nice service and its FREE and may stay that way..

you are comparing the max discount price of MFL ($69) to the no discount price of Synsport ($120). that's not very fair, especially since MFL isn't available for $69 any more.MFL's standard price is $90, max discount is $69. Synsport standard price $120, max discount $96. so the difference between the two products is about $30 not the $50 you think.Synsport includes a whole collection of historical league reports. MFL requires a $30 add-on for these reports. so for the same amount of features, the prices are pretty similar. also CBS and Yahoo are $129 and have hardly any of the website customization or historical reports of either MFL or Synsport. i'm not in an auction league, but my understanding is that Synsport is adding auction support this season in the near future.

See this is the problem for me...I took over a league that started on Yahoo back in 2001. Since then, I have been trying to get everyone off of Yahoo, and onto a cheaper site (they insist on paying for the Plus League) with better options.

Problem is, NO ONE has the motivation to go to a new site. The only thing that has ever gotten them to even attempt it is the fact that MFL was much cheaper than Yahoo. We ran two leagues last year, one on MFL (free just to see what it was like) and one on Yahoo, and after week 1 everyone abandoned MFL because they have grown accustomed to Yahoo's setup.

I just wish some of these great sites with all these options, would actually make it easier for non-hardcore guys to get into, because it seems like the user interface is the ONLY reason my owners won't switch over.

If the interface is your league's primary concern, check out RTSports. It's cleaner looking than MFL (without doing the designing/tweaking to dress up the MFL look) and it supports nearly as much flexibility. We've used it for the past 5 seasons in one league and everyone is happy with it. It's $90, but talk to them, you might be able to swing a discount for moving your league from another service.

This year, I decided to join leagues on MFL, Yahoo and ESPN, plus decided to commish my league at FoxSports.Com.

I had read Fox had partnered with Microsoft to some extent, that they had addressed the concerns from last year, and that they were ready to roll.

Wrong. Just as bad as ever. Wide spread complaints about their drafting system. We had an offline draft, and it took me about 24 hours of trying to get the rosters submitted. But the real problem was performance of the servers during the season. Ten minutes to login, if at all. That is completely unacceptable. So I packed up and moved my league over to www.fleaflicker.com

So far, it's been a great FREE service. Live scoring, pretty customizable scoring, links to player news, great waiver viewing, user friendly, clean (albeit simple) interface, league chatter chat room. It could be considered "no-frills", but honestly, it's my favorite site this year.

http://www.fleaflicker.com/showLeague.do?leagueId=21716 is my league this year.

The other thread made me go hunt this down. Bodog COMPLETELY botched it. Very little worked from the beginning, and there are STILL severe issues with scoring, displays, BB FA, etc. They're support has been awful as well. They took a great product and totally destroyed it. Will never get a cent from me, and they will start charging next year.

bump for 2008. i'm surprised no one else revived this thread. so what's new in the world of FFL Management? FFLM is gone, i know that much.

Synsport is cheaper - only $100 this year including live scoring. list of new features

New Features

- Full site customization with CSS editor in RS7 (also, this announcement explains the full capability of our site customization)

- Ability to upload custom league and clubhouse banners to give site ulta unique look and feel to league website (see example 1 and example 2 and note unique graphic across top of page for each team)

- Custom Draft Sound creation directly within RS7

- Ability to create announcements on frontpage that display across multiple leagues for which you're in charge

- Expanded the Future Draft Pick trading to allow for trading up to a configurable number of future years (previously allowed just 1 year in future)

- Lineup constraints expanded to allow for maximum flexibility

- Updated team autodraft execution so that it now has extra protections against teams not participating in the live draft (e.g. lag)

- One click rules setup based on default rules used on ESPN, CBS, Yahoo!, Fox Sports, or nfl.com

- Import of XML formats (this is the beginnings of ability to import leagues who want to move from other providers)

- FCFS, Minidraft, and Blind Bidding interfaces improved
here are my two leagues - work in progress. i'm waaay behind schedule, only started tweaking this weekend.http://football.bigffl.com/index.php?id=1

I don't know why anyone would use anything BUT MFL. Here is our league site for this year:

Sin City FFL

It has every customization you could ever want and the community and support is top notch. And, if I believe, out of all the 'pay' sites, it's the cheapest to boot!

Does anybody know about any websites that offer a live WEEKLY draft?

For a long time, we've thought some kind of weekly redraft league would be cool. You just draft your starting 10 (or 9 or whatever) players each week.

I found this site: http://weekly.playerline.com But it really feels like a work in progress. Their Help and FAQ doesn't answer a bunch of the questions I have. Any other sites like that? Anybody ever even hear of such a league?

I run two leagues now, both off of Fanstar. I use the same scoring, so I run them out of the same site to save money (I call them AFC and NFC). Fanstar has been extremely reliable and extremely cost-efficient (it was $59 to renew, so $30 a league).

The support has always been extremely prompt and they have a site that is extremely customizable. Anything you want you can do, pretty much and, if you don't see it, ask for it and they will put it in at no extra charge.

We actually left the site two years ago to go to another site that had what I thought was a cooler interface, but that season was a debacle, so many thing went wrong that I refuse to name them. The league voted overwhelmingly to come back and I have not been happier. It just works and makes my job so much easier.

I've seen their site evolve through the years and every year they offer new and exciting options, all free, as well as new looks and enhancements. I'm very happy with them.

I've also played in a league at RTS and the site is good, but Fanstar is better. They only thing I liked at RTS was their waiver wire. That was perfect. But Fanstar's is almost as good and that is good enough. Our RTS site has looked the same for 8 years now. The Fanstar site looks different/better every year.

I highly recommend Fanstar. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed.

I have used the standard freebies, going with AOL for the last few years and they have bought Fleaflicker. They have some changes to make, but their customer service has been terrific and it is easy. I highly recommend it so far..........

I remember looking into them back in the early part of the century, but ended up going with MFL. I recently checked them out this summer again since MFL has resisted implementing some features I think would improve roster flexibility (NFI list, PUP list, Suspended list, etc; seriously how hard can that be?) but I digress...Fanstar looks great, Mike Gregoire is still running the company and providing prompt replies to questions. It looks very aesthetically appealing and I would've switched our league over except he wrote me back and honestly told me they cannot support the features i'm looking for :(
