Basic run down of the league - 10 team ESPN standard, co-worker/friends of co-worker, $25 a team. Basically just a reason for all of us to play for fun. Personally only know 3/10 (LM is 1)

Problem: 2-3 weeks ago the LM asks me if I know how ESPN breaks ties for the playoffs. I tell him I believed it was based on points. He then asked me how ESPN chooses who makes the playoffs. I tell him I think it's based on who has the best records. He then asked me why we have 2 divisions if its best records and I said I wasnt sure exactly because I have rarely played ESPN but it was most likely due to scheduling. He doesnt get it then says he thinks the top 2 teams from each division should be the playoff teams. Told him not sure and guess we'll find out. I didnt really give an opinion back because I had the #2 seed locked up at this point. Also been very busy with work and other things so I didnt look into it.

Fast forward to this week: Top 2 seeds are locked. Both teams are atop their divisions. Then you have an 8-4,7-5,7-5 & 6-6 (both playing each other) fighting for the last 2 spots. 6-6 (LM) beats 7-5 guy making both tied record wise. 8-4 loses and the other 7-5 wins. I notice last night that the LM needed the 7-5 team to lose with a few players going in the matchup and he replies "huh?" to my text. I explained how I thought it was going to be best records that made it not the top 2 from the divisions. He disagreed.

Morning comes and work was busy so I wasnt able to check the league until now. Click on the page and see the LM has written a few paragraphs and explained how the tie breakers were made and how the top 2 teams from each division would be the playoff teams. Then I see the log on the front page under his LM note that he had modified the schedule and I text him to ask why. He doesnt reply..so I check the playoff bracket and his #5 seed is playing the #1 seed. The #4 seed is playing in the consolation bracket.

He also puts a $25 prize (own pocket) on who scores the most points out of this week to "keep the league competitive" at the bottom of the 1-3 prize breakdown. I didnt get that either and actually felt that he should disable the non playoff teams from making pickups and drops since they're done. Is this wrong of me to ask?

Should I basically just call him out and say hey, you didnt make the playoffs based on the ESPN settings and tell him he should put the other guy who has a better record (#3 ranked in other division) back into his playoff match like ESPN had it? I realize this is just a "fun" league with low entry level fee but the guy who's 8-5 played all year and finished with a better record so I dont think its fair that the LM just determined what he was going to do without anyone else giving opinion after the fact.. Just seems shady and wrong.

This stuff needs to be written up and agreed on in August (prior to the season), not December :lmao:

your Commish is a total doosh. Find a new league

Talk to him privately to start with. Give him the chance to set it right without the public embarrassment, and it's more likely he'll do the right thing. Especially if it's a co-worker league.

If there are no rules or league agreement on the playoff format beyond what the system generates, then should have stuck with it.

On the teams in the consolation games... my personal opinion is if you are going to have them play a game then they have as much right to waivers as anyone else. Don't schedule them a game and expect them to take it seriously and then take away their normal abilities to manage their team. Though if a league decide they want to do it otherwise, of course feel free... just that's my take on it.

Let me tell you something, this guy won't make it right and $25 isn't worth arguing over. Just drop all your players and give him the double dong

I agree that he shouldve written everything out especially since $ was involved but I also knew this was just a fun type league so I didnt get to wrapped up in everything.I even told him months ago when he was setting everything up that if he had a question about any of the settings that he could call ESPN to ask. Obviously he didnt.
