League setup question (1 Viewer)

I'm curious to find out how many of you guys leagues allow player or draft pick trades on draft day?? Is allowing player trades on draft day a uncommon thing? Would you allow trades even if you had 2 newbies in your league and you were not sure if they really knew what they were doing??

Keeper league here, and I allow trades of both players/picks on draft day. Had one go down this year, no problems.

if you're doing a serpentine draft, i wouldn't allow trading of draft picks. that defeats the purpose of a serpentine format, and can allow for the possibility of a fair bit of collusion if you let it go unchecked.

No we don't, I don't know, and no I wouldn't - but ONLY because they're "newbies." If you have a group of guys who for the most part know what they're doing, it's idiotic not to allow it. Obviously you have to be on guard for collusion, but if that's a concern, then your league probably sucks anyway.

Ditto on the keeper league that I run. We allow trading of picks and players during the draft. And I'll also point out that we DO have a serpentine style draft and it hasn't been a problem.

Our redraft league announces draft order two weeks prior to draft.

Trading of draft picks and/or already drafted players is allowed up to the end of the draft. Then no trades or waiver moves are allowed until the Tuesday morning after Week 1 games (unless a player is OUT in which case you can use an IR, or if you drafted a player that was suspended - in which case you can't move him). We do not allow trading draft picks from future years at any time.

Allow the trades (unless their's collusion). This should probably be discussed in your rules though.

For the newbies it will be a great learning experience.
