Leon Washington (1 Viewer)

the hype is nowhere to be found this year but the opportunity is still there.

Anybody else have their eye on this guy in the late rounds?

not really seeing it. Thus far in the preseason - no one has been able to do much. add the fact that there's three guys battling for one spot. Not that interested but Leon is the one going really late so you could take a flyer & cut bait after a week or two.

I think Leon is awesome but that was one of the five most gruesome football injuries I have seen (Napoleon McCallum being #1).

I see it and tried to get him late in two drafts. Washington is just the kind of runner that can maximize a bad situation upfront because he has the quickness and balance in a short frame to get through small creases that other backs can't. Think of MJD's situation in Jacksonville and you can see the comparison. Washington isn't as good as MJD IMO, but he's good enough to be a valuable bench player/bye-week starter that could surprise enough to crack the top 24 if the Seahawks click offensively.

Justin Forsett is a good young player, but I think Washington will prove to be better between the tackles if at full strength.

Definitely worth a late round pick.

Leon has the most talent of any rb on the seahawks. The coaching staff will realize this soon enough and I expect Leon owners to be rewarded handsomely.

I smell RBBC.

Both backs bring a comparable size and skill set to the table. Neither are protypical first down backs, and seem more adept on sweeps, delays, and catching the ball and making yards in space than they are running hard north south between tackles.

I think Seattle will -- and should -- platoon these backs and use Julius Jones or even Ganther to pick up the short yards.

I watched someone who started out on fire in the first 5 rounds last night take Washington at 8.01 last night and bring his team back to reality a little.

situations like this I sometimes try to pretend the injury never happened and just take a look at the current skill set and the situation....

1. skills: I don't think there is any denying that he has at least as good, if not a better skill set then many comparable RB's out there.....dude still has quicks and can take any play to the house....to me it looks like he is recovered, so that would be my mentality when drafting him....

2. situation: could be better, could be worse....in this day and age of RBBC he actually may have a better situation than most....SEA went after him, even with the injury, so that tells you right away how they feel about Jones and Forsett....there were other RB's SEA could have gone after (Lynch, Westbrook,etc)....I don't even really factor Jones into this equation, which may be a mistake....so really his only comp for touches is Forsett.....once the regular season starts, I could see Leon getting a bulk of the work and becoming one of those real good stories.....dude works hard and you can throw in some cliches too like having something to prove and playing with a little chip on his shoulder,etc.....but bottom line some of those things don't matter as much as the offensive line or the passsing game......but when looking for production, I can see him being a pretty fairly consistent fantasy scorer as I think he is going to get a bunch of touches.....he can make plays....comparing this guy with other guys in questionable RBBC's (Huggins, Caddy, Slatons, Jacobs, Taylor, D. Brown, Maroney, etc)....I think you could do worse and I think the guy that gets him will get value....

Well, they only gave a 5th rounder for him. With the risk involved( considering the scope of his injury), it didn't really indicate a lack of faith in the returning rb corps.

Pete Carrol just stated that Leon Washington will be the primary kick returner now that Josh Wilson has been traded to the Ravens.

I just cannot see a team using its #1 runningback as a Kick Returner. The lead-back ball is in Forsetts court.

9/1 The trade of CB Josh Wilson also means the Seahawks are without last year's best kick-returner. Pete Carroll said that RB Leon Washington, who excelled as a kick-returner with the Jets, will fill that role.
Fred Jackson and Jammal Charles last year both fit that bill, but there were some extenuating circumstances there. It certainly is very rare: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/tiny/G0uuZ

I'm willing to gamble on Leon. I got him in the 15th round in a 12 team draft. He's my 5th RB.. Why not?? I think he has something to prove after the Jets situation and he has/had?, skills. Nothing but upside and I'm not emotionally attached to him and have no problem dropping him in the 3rd week.

bones heal nearly perfectly. they dont limit range of motion or flexibility regardless. ligaments are the opposite. the only issue is that his long layoff would cause him to lose explosiveness. his injury, while ugly looking, is not near as bad as a torn acl, patella, achilles, certain meniscus problems.

i just read someone that since they traded Josh Wilson, they want Leon to concentrate on kickoffs more

they want to increase Forsetts workload now....and "save" leon

which is good for me....all my other sleeper rb"s i couldnt grab....i only got forsett

Right now the situation is muddy but at the end of the day it will come down to production on the field. If Forsett gets the opportuintiy and runs with it he'll likely be the workhorse and likewise with Washington. Washington is cheaper and IMO the better back so he's the guy I've placed my bet on. He's gotten good reviews from the staff and he seems to have gotten back his explosiveness which was feared he would lose due to the injury. I see this as a low risk bet with moderate potential return. He's the type of guy that if he becomes a starter after the 1st few weeks that I'd package together with another player for an upgrade.

After reading that he'll be the kick returner I am thinking of dropping him for LJ in one league. That is very, very bad news.

I've always been a big Leon fan, but for whatever reason he's been going earlier in drafts than I felt comfortable taking him.

I had him checked for a while in my subscriber contest team, but I've gone away from that now. I just don't have a great feeling about him this year.

This guarantees he'll crazy go nuts this season and be Carrol's new version of SC vintage Reggie Bush.

i think Pete is gonna be a fantasy killer this year....####### usc

my guess would be Forsett saw return game action cuz lwash didnt dress.....and im sure they rested leon cuz his metal leg

No touches in tonights game....Guess he didnt dressAny info is appriciated
did not dress
Can we read into this?Is he the starter, or was it for rest? Thanks for the fast response
he started the important 3rd game and sat the meaningless 4th game. I'd say that he's the "starter" now but what that exactly means no one knows. Go with the better talent when push comes to shove which is Washington.

There's definitely alot of speculation about who the starting Seattle RB is. Having said that, I looked at the box score in last night's final preseason game. None of the offensive first string players were in the game. I'm going to conclude that Washington is going to get first dibs on the starting role. To me the writing is on the wall. If it was Forsett then he would not have played and Washington would have been in there to audition the change of pace role with Julius Jones. Coach Carroll isn't declaring one as he wants the RBs to stay hungry.

However, temper your expectations. We are looking at a first year NFL coach. The trend in the NFL is RBBC. I think in order for Washington to put up solid fantasy stats this year, Forsett will have to be solid and vice versa.

I would think that the fact that Washington didn't play last night is a very good thing for Leon's owners.

No we're not but I understand your point. I couldn't tell you who is the better back in SEA. but if Leon W. can get 12 touches a game he represents good value at his ADP.

My bad.

Picked up Leon in the 14th round but considering dropping him for the Huggins hype train...
done ;)
I'm not sure why you'd want the backup RB in TB over a RB that could be the opening day starter. Neither situation is particularly sexy but I think the Huggins hype train is getting a little carried away.
I'd rather have Leon. I kinda like Huggins but think Leon will get every chance to get a big slice of the RBBC in Seattle.

Pete Carrol has a history of being a passing coach so wouldn't a guy like Leon Washington have a ton of upside in a PPR?

I just did the opposite...I dropped Huggins for Washington. I figured at best, Huggins is Washington.

Leon has proven to be a weapon. Huggins has proven to be better than Ward.

I have Leon and don't expect too much but am waiting to be pleasantly surprised.I bet he and Forsett could be a pretty good duo just because Seattle always seems to have an ez schedule.

The way I see it, both Forsett and Leon will see playing time. I wanted to avoid this mess all together on draft day. Although, Leon was the best player available in the 14th round of my 14 team league. I drafted him thinking he would more than likely be a back up. After starting game 3 of the preseason and not playing at all game 4, I am thinking he may be named the starter. If that happens, he may be fantasy gold in this PPR and return yardage league as my flex! Any Seattle homers care to chime in. I am sure we will know as early as Monday if he is named the starter just curious what others think??
