LeSean McCoy traded to the Bills (2 Viewers)

sorry mccoy owners
Sorry for what ? Philly totally mismanaged how to give McCoy the ball last year he barely got any goal line looks and went from the #1 dyno RB to a guy who scored less than 200 pts in PPR because they give him the ball 10 times a game from shot gun and he would lose 7 yards on half of them. In Buffalo I would guess he gets back his goal line job and has a normal offense to go from again.

Glad he is out of Philly after last year's crap season.

Spiller to Eagles would make this pretty interesting. If nothing else, it raises the value of the 3rd/4th RB in rookie drafts as I'm sure the Eagles will spend a day one or day 2 pick on a RB right?
A lot of possibilities here, including signing D Murray to simultaneously help themselves and hurt their primary competition, Dallas.

For this trade to have gone down I have to believe Spiller is already half way to NY to play for the Jets and his old OC right? That would make a lot of sense that the Bills already knew he was gone so they made this deal.
Or Rex Ryan doesn't care about Spiller at all since McCoy is way, way better and more well-rounded.

I don't know any of that to be true myself and but if we get to see them switch teams will be nice to see that put to the test. All I know is give me the choice next season of McCoy on he Bills or Spiller on the Eagles and I'm taking Spiller.

People have short memories. Spiller looked like an ELITE player when he had an OC that had a clue. 6 yards per carry, 1244 rushing yards, 6 rushing TDs, 43 catches, 450 yards receiving, and 2 passing TDs. He's better than people think if you just judge him on how the Bills used him. Remember how Randy Moss looked in Oakland, and then 1 year later in NE? Teams and OC can GREATLY affect a player's value...

Big question I'm wondering right now is can the Bills pay or want to pay McCoy's $12 mill and Freds non-guaranteed $3 million? Seems harsh to cut Fred, but that's a lot of money at RB.

I think Spiller is a Jet and we just don't know it yet.
The Bills had no intention of signing him. He wants at least $5-6M a year. And between his injuries and insistance on bouncing everything to the outside, the Bills were moving on.

That was going on three years ago. Since then he's proven to be just as injury prone as he was before that miracle season. Now he's going to be 28, and he's a RB that relies 100% on speed, so who knows when he declines.

They will keep him - the Bills are going to run A LOT.

philly dreaded 3 headed RBBC coming with Sproles/Pol/Rookie

silly move to pay a RB so much, surprised Philly got a taker

I imagine Bryce/Freddy is depth

We trade McCoy to Buffalo so out of spite Spiller wants to come here now? What's going on here ?
He wasn't run out of town, his contract was too big for today's NFL.
I agree. I'm wondering why it's automatic that Spiller now comes here in Shady's place.
It isn't automatic obviously, but it doesn't have anything to do with spite either- rumor was that Philly tried to trade for Spiller before getting Sproles, so people are just connecting the dots.

ETA- Spiller happens to be the guest on NFLN right now, lol. Said something about "I'm sure my agent will be speaking with them".

Eagles fans not sure how they feel about this (hint: you should be really happy) should take solace in the fact that Bills fans HATE this trade.

McCoy is $9.7M this year for the Bills. $6.9 next and $7.6M in 2017

Where you getting $12MM?
I was thinking of his cap number to Eagles, not pay. Sorry. Still at least $9.75 mill, maybe more if his workout bonus are not part of that pay which I don't think they are.

Might be a good time right now to sell high on Sproles in dynasty. He's running out of shelf life and this might bump his perceived value a little.

Spiller's has one good year out of 5. Moss had one bad year out of 10.

By adding LeSean, the Bills drop about 4 spots down the list of teams with most cap room. They can afford him, no problem. And his salaries are a lot easier to take the next two years.

Has trading good defense for a running back ever worked?

Bailey for Portis was one of many mistakes for the Redskins.

No they don't.It's a great trade for the Bills.
From all the Bills fans I know, they absolutely adore Kiko. It's a bad trade for the Bills in almost every facet other than filling a RB hole, although filling that hole with such a big contract isn't exactly a "win"

I think its more shock than lack of happiness. Shock that we'd not only unload an aging RB making $10mil but get a young stud LB back.

Alonso was a backup in Buffalo

McCoy is an elite RB

It's a big trade and shocking to most. But it makes the Bills better. Easily.

LeSean McCoy - RB - Bills
CBS' Jason La Canfora reports new Bills RB LeSean McCoy is expected to "make noise about wanting an extension," and could even threaten to decline to report to training camp.
Per La Canfora, the Bills are "bracing for that already." A trade is a perfect time to angle for a new deal, but already due at least $6.9 million each of the next four seasons, Shady isn't going to get it. McCoy will likely/understandably be sour about the deal for some time, but he's going to work for one of the league's great salesmen in Rex Ryan. By the time camp rolls around, Shady should be hungry to prove he's still one of the game's best offensive players.

@AroundTheNFL: C.J. Spiller says Bills called him and thanked him for his service with the team.

@PFF_NateJahnke: Kiko Alonso a top 2 coverage ILB in 2013. Mychal Kendricks a top 4 coverage ILB in 2014. Will be a nice duo at ILB

He didn't look elite last year. He's got a ridiculous contract for a RB in today's NFL, even though you guys can afford it.

You can never have too many good LB's, especially given how good he is in coverage and the fact that he's on a cheap contract.

There are silver linings to this deal if you're a Bills fan, but it's a bad trade.

Man.

If he's not thrilled to come, why trade for him?

Yes I corrected that as I was discussing his cap number. His base pay is $9.75 but he's got another half a million in roster and workout bonus which I don't think is included which pushes his pay up to as high as $10.25.

It's not a horrible contract for the Bills to inherit due to his declining and non-guaranteed base. If today we heard they signed him to a 3 year deal with no signing bonus and $10.25 million guaranteed in year one followed by no more guaranteed money and total value up to $25.25 million for the first 3 years with an easy out after years one and two, I don't think most of us would think the Bills signed a player to a bad contract.

But either way McCoy might be highest paid RB in the NFL next season and I'd guess Fred's $3 million would make him one of the highest paid backups. So they may plan to run the heck out of the ball but that's a ton of money to pay two RB's in today's NFL.

Spiller's has one good year out of 5. Moss had one bad year out of 10.
And Spiller only had Chan Gailey for his OC in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, when he finally got starters touches in weeks 13-17, he scored 19.20, 8.60, 37.70, 21.80, and 20.50 in PPR leagues. In 2012 he was the 6th highest scoring RB in PPR leagues.
