Levy Hurt again (1 Viewer)

Guys DeAndre Levy is killing me. I have him as my main LB in 2 dynasty leagues. So basically I'm screwed in those leagues. First he is out practice with a back injury. Now he was hurt in the preseason game vs the Browns, (groin injury).

THis is so frustrating.

I am glad that I traded him for Vilma in a recent startup dynasty I am in.

I was VERY happy to get Levy as my LB3, and expected big things from him this season. But he seems to keep getting dinged up.

Man I hope Levy is ok for the season I traded some of my vets like ray lewis thinking I found a Gem in the last round last year in our rookie draft. I wish they would have shut him down for 3 weeks and brought him back week 1, know he has a groin and bback problem!!! Any and all homers please keep giving up dates on his status!!!

Levy was healthy enough to play yesterday and last week and looked good. A young player like Levy needs to be on the field.I'll update his injury as soon as I hear something.

Thanks Anthony. Let us know if he is good for week 1. I think the Lions sorely need him and that is a position that could be there weakest for the season. As far as depth goes with Dizon out for the year.

No real news, but latest from Tom K at mlive.com

Louis Delmas, DeAndre Levy sit out of Lions practiceALLEN PARK - With less than two weeks before the start of the regular season, the Detroit Lions' defense is in shaky condition. Two of its top young players - safety Louis Delmas and middle linebacker DeAndre Levy - are down with groin injuries and there's no telling when they'll return.Delmas played about 20 snaps in Saturday's preseason game but was held out of today's workout - which isn't a good sign in terms of his recovery. Levy injured his groin on the first play from scrimmage against the Cleveland Browns and his status is unknown.

Any chance they try and trade for Derrick Johnson of the Lions to take Folletts spot or backup Levy? I think A) If they don't bring anyone in there aren't concerned about the injury. b) If they bring someone in they are concerned about depth and the injury.

I have Levy too but hesitant to start him on his 1st week back.. Besides, if Vick runs wild again, doubt Levy will catch him much.

I have Lofton and McClain. Levy was my third LB. Saw Harris dropped due to a bad week and snatched him up while dropping Levy. Levy should have a great year at MLB if he can only stay healthy. But, for now, I am happy to have Harris instead.

Awful matchup so makes leaving him on the bench a lot easier, looking forward to see how he does to see if he can be tossed back into the lineup week 3.

Activated Weatherspoon even though I also have Lofton. I may have to play 2 Falcons LB'ers but they did well last week.

Hmm, I haven't thought about it much, but with Shaun Hill at QB, I figured their D could see a lot of time.

I'd expect a lot of passing and Vick running. The Lions strength on D is up front and the Eagles don't like to run. I don't want to bank on Levy repeatedly hunting down Vick if I don't have to, a part of me hopes I'm wrong so I can feel more comfortable starting him next week. Tulloch/EJ/Weathersppon isn't a bad starting lineup, but Levy over the one with the worst matchup that week would improve it significantly.

He obviously played, but two solos isn't what we were all hoping.

Anyone watch the game and note his action? Was he in for 3 downs? Did he get reinjured?

Admitted that his groin isn't yet right and that he had trouble reaching away from his body and leveraging to shed tackles. He wasn't moving well laterally or tackling well either. Also limped off in the fourth quarter with what looked like an ankle injury.

There is some reports that he may have re-aggravated the injury, but no confirmation of that.

Just dropped him in a redraft for Betts due to a terrible RB situation this week. I'll pick him back up next week if available and injuries/byes allow, but right now he's just a waste of a roster slot if he's hurt enough to not play this week.

What is the situation with Levy

12:07

TomKowalski: the ankle injury to levy is worse than they thought .. he's not practicing and he might not return until after the bye week

Ugh. This is going to be painful this week for me - Timmons and Harrison on bye, Lofton banged up and Levy probably not playing.

Ugh. Even if Levy does heal from the ump-teen injuries that have cropped up since training camp during the bye and returns Week 8, does he still have the rosy outlook that was predicted? Or at that point is he still to much of an injury risk to drop into the starting lineup.

I'dbe hesitant starting him right away - but I do feel like he's a guy who most have given up on and may just end up help a few teams win a championship :lmao:

ALLEN PARK -- While most of the NFL news Tuesday dealt with injured players who might or might not miss a good deal of time, the situation was much rosier at the Detroit Lions' practice facility.

Coming off a bye week, the Lions are in excellent shape health-wise. Only quarterback Shaun Hill and linebacker Zack Follett did not participate in any activity Tuesday.

Neither player is expected to return any time soon. Hill has a broken left forearm, and Follett will see a specialist this week following the neck injury he suffered two weeks ago.

Rookie running back Jahvid Best (toe) did some running on the side and is expected to be in the lineup Sunday against the Washington Redskins.

The rest of the Lions participated in some form of the practice drills. During the bye week, the Lions held three practices during which 16 to 19 players were sidelined so they could heal.

"The encouraging thing is we're getting our players back,'' Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "You see Monday night that Dallas is going to be playing without Tony Romo for a long time. I don't know what's going on with Brett Favre, but (Minnesota) might be playing without him. Green Bay lost a bunch of linebackers, and you start seeing other teams having to deal with the same things we've dealt with.''

Some of the Lions' notables who are back and healthy -- or at least relatively healthy -- are quarterback Matthew Stafford (shoulder), receiver Calvin Johnson (shoulder), linebacker DeAndre Levy (ankle), defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch (knee), guard Stephen Peterman (foot) and cornerback Nathan Vasher (biceps).

The Lions limited Best's activity because they don't want him to risk aggravating the turf toe injury.

"We'd like to get that in his rear-view mirror, and I think we're close to being able to do that,'' Schwartz said. "That's definitely part of our agenda, not setting him back along the line. But you have to balance that because you're talking about a rookie.''

Levy has been hampered since the start of training camp with back, groin and (most recently) ankle injuries. :wall: He practiced Tuesday for the first time in weeks but was limited in his participation.

"I think everybody will be in the mix this week. Whether they'll be ready, I don't know,'' Schwartz said.

Detroit's linebacking corps already is thin because of the loss of Follett.

"He's going to see a specialist in the next couple of days,'' Schwartz said. "I think we'll have a much better idea then. We've got a pretty good idea now, but we'll gather as much information before we make a final determination of whether we'll continue or shut it down.''

So Follett's injury could result in a long-term absence?

"It's too early to comment on that,'' Schwartz said.

Practiced again Wednesday :lmao:

Practiced again Wednesday :yucky:
Last Updated: October 27. 2010 2:27PMLions' LB Ashlee Palmer practices with first-team defense

Chris McCosky / The Detroit News

Allen Park— In the portion of practice the media was allowed to watch Wednesday — the stretching and position drills — it appeared that outside linebacker Ashlee Palmer was working with the first-team defense, which means he could be starting in place of injured Zack Follett (neck) on Sunday.

Recently-acquired Bobby Carpenter was working with the second unit. Landon Johnson was taking reps at middle linebacker. He would likely start there if DeAndre Levy (ankle) can't play.

Levy practiced for the second straight day, but he is clearly not working at full speed. Coach Jim Schwartz said Tuesday that Levy was "in the mix" for Sunday, though he wouldn't commit to him being ready to play.

"We feel very strongly that he's still that guy (to lead the defense)," Schwartz said. "It hasn't been the same thing that's slowed him down. Maybe if it was just one thing it might be a little more frustrating for a coach. But he's going to put all this behind him and he will play well when we can get back on the field.

"This hasn't changed his talent. This is nothing that's going to have any long-lasting effect on him."

Follett and quarterback Shaun Hill (forearm) were the only players not practicing in at lease some capacity Wednesday.

How has Levy looked at practice? I have heard mixed results

12:14

TomKowalski: we only get to watch the first portion which is really nothing ... i don't think he's doing everything yet, but he was in on some nickel packages today (and he was out of others, so i don't know) ... i don't think they want to count on him 100 percent and then, if he can't go, they're unprepared ...

I know it took all year but Levy is finally starting to play and even though they say he is not 100% yet, looked pretty good. Was anyone else blown away when he tracked down Holmes on the OT play? If he is not 100% he is going to be beastly when he is, that was an impressive burst by a LB.

I was about to post the same thing. He had a head start speed and momentum wise, but Holmes looked to be in top gear by the time Levy brought him down. He can fly for a big man.

He was all over the field, shed blocks pretty well and looked pretty decisive. It was a good start.

Picked him up 2 weeks ago and started him when Patrick Willis was on BYE last week. Looking like a pretty good pickup, which I desperately needed following Daryl Washington's horrible stats lately. Trying to acquire Jon Beason in a trade (we start 3 LB), but not getting a reply to this point. Willis, Levy and Dansby to finish the season should still be a solid trio, though.

Is Levy a good bet at double digit tackles from here on out? I'm not sure how his future matchups play into his potential of getting high tackle numbers.

Double digit? Seriously? I know of few lb'ers that can do that not even Willis.

Since 1994 (when they started tracking tackles) - Spielman has the highest with 195 total tackles, which would be the equivalent of 12.2 total tackles (but only 7.8 solos). Ray Lewis had 156 solos in 1997 - still just under double digit solos - and Willis' rookie year is third. http://www.squidoo.com/most-tackles-in-a-single-nfl-season

So, is he a "good bet"? No... I'd take the under :goodposting: That said, I think he'll definitely be an LB1 play the rest of the year assuming he can stay healthy. It's probably too late to acquire him if you haven't listened to this point though ... because anyone who has hung on to him through this is happy to see the patience rewarded so far.
