I think you'll see the NFL modify the rules on a punt so that if a receiving team player is pushed into the ball once it touches the ground, then the ball is dead at the spot it was touched. They might even give the punting team a 5 yards penalty. I think it happened in the Eagles game, and Pitt tried to do it last night. Such a cheap play, but it isn't illegal right now.

That's all I got out of last nights game, other than it was finally an enjoyable SB to watch. Props to Buck and Aikman. They did an excellent job IMO.

Why change it? The Packer player should never have been that close to the ball to be able to be pushed into it.

Exactly. Tramon Williams made two stupid plays on that one. I never understood why they stick around the ball. Absolutely nothing positive can come from it.

IIRC, if a player from Pittsburgh touched the ball first, but didn't secure it, the Green Bay player could have attempted to pick it up and run with it without danger of losing possession if he fumbles the pickup. Once a player from Pittsburgh touches it, it's "illegal touching" and a free play for GB until it's downed. I think. Or maybe that's kickoffs?

unless refs are blind, this usually makes no difference, refs usually know if the player is pushed into the ball.

Aikman and Buck are terrible.

Wouldn't matter. If the ball touched a Packer first, it's a live ball. And to answer a previous question in this thread, it's only on punts. On kickoffs, it's always (past ten yards) a live ball, up for anyone's grab.

So long as the guy can stand there and wave for a fair catch he's only pretending to make, I'm sure there's players that feel like a push is just fine after all that acting trying to fool them.

It was finally an enjoyable SB to watch.
I don't know if I am interpretting this wrong. Did you mean it was finally an enjoyable SB to watch in that it was the culmination of a long season and two weeks of hype so it was nice to watch the SB? Or did you mean it was nice to finally have a SB worth watching after countlesws boring SBs?

Not exactly. If a member of the punting team touches the ball, but doesn't gain control of it, then any member of the receiving team may can advance it without fear of loss of possession. So if the ball had hit one of the Steelers players, Williams could have picked it up and ran with it. If he doesn't gain control of it, he's lost nothing, because Pitt can't gain control of the ball after touching it first. But, he might be able to catch them "sleeping" and gain some valuable yards.ETA-Philo beat me to it.
