Links to classic coach sound bites: please post here (1 Viewer)

It would be a cool ongoing project to post links here for coaches who went off during a press conference.

We could start easily by posting the links for the Denny Green press conference last night. Others I can think of right now are

Herm Edwards (you play to win the game)

Mora (these fans are sick - after the crowd cheered because a player was injured)

Mora (playoffs?)

Parcells (several, the dian 1-800 quarterback is one of my favorites)

Is anyone up for this project? I'll hunt for some links as well.

:lmao: I really think this is the funniest coach blowup ever. He honestly can't believe that someone asked about the playoffs.

I hope someone can find the other Mora quote "our offense sucked, our defense sucked, we couldn't do diddly poo". I can't seem to find it.

I'm still looking for the following video clip from Parcells when Quincy Carter was booted for testing positive.

"You know what I like about the media? I really do. This is funny,'' Parcells said. "They think you can just dial 1-800 and get a quarterback. There's teams been trying to dial that for 10 years. They think you can just dial it up. You think we don't look around? . . . They say, 'Well, you've got to get a quarterback.' No [expletive].''

I quickly tried looking for John McKay's response to the question about the execution of his awful Tampa Bay OL:

"I'm all for it" ......but maybe that wasn't on video?

The alltime greastest coach/manager meltdown has to be Hal McCrae Sr., when he declares nuclear war on his own office. At one point you see a reporter walk by with a trickle of blood going down his face from being hit by some debris.

McCrae concludes his meltdown with the classic one liner: "Put that in your motherf$%$#n pipe and smoke it!"

And of course there is John Chaney at the post game press conference: "I'm going to kill you!!!!" to Calipari, lol.

Is the Rick Pitino "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door?" speech available anywhere, in any form? That would make my year.

Great thread, guys. I admit, I played the Green one over and over today, and I miss Jim Mora Sr. more than I could ever adequately describe for this general theme.

Parcells is :moneybag: at a press conference.

Consider your year "made". You're welcome in advance.#46

Don't forget Ditka's "Gutless Wonder" retort.

**** Vermeil had a few good ones too, although not tirades... "These players..." and "Tough.... to say goodbye to Greg".

ETA" Detroit homers will also know of a few Bobby Ross rants... "I'M A GOOD COACH!" is a good one.

You're the man, YDub. Thanks so much for tracking that down! I'll have to throw that on my Ipod. I love it when I'm rocking to tunes and then a random rant comes on, like one of the Mora classics.

"I'm in favor of it"... but who's counting. ;) My favorite McKay quote was:"Well we didn't block anybody today, but we made up for it by not tackling anybody." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: The guy was :moneybag:

When Earle Bruce was fired at Colorado State he had a press conference where he began sobbing and yelling out the names of those who he deemed responsible for his dismissal. He yelled out two or three names, but the only one I distinctly recall was someone named "Al Yates".

Here's a nice little compilation from ESPN. some of the rare cut's include Mora's "diddly-poo", Ditka's "What do you care?", and Fassel's "poker game".

Check it out

Great to hear the Elia/Weaver clips again. Those never get old! :lmao:

Gotta include a couple of gems from Tommy Lasorda as well. The rants on Dave Kingman and Kurt Bevacqua are classic!

"What's my opinion of Kingman's performance!? What the #### do you think is my opinion of it? I think it was ####### HORSE####. Put that in, I don't ####### care. Opinion of his performance!!? Jesus Christ, he beat us with three ####### home runs! What the #### do you mean, 'What is my opinion of his performance?' How could you ask me a question like that, 'What is my opinion of his performance?' ####, he hit three home runs! ####. I'm ####### pissed off to lose the ####### game. And you ask me my opinion of his performance! ####. That's a tough question to ask me, isn't it? 'What is my opinion of his performance?'" -- in response to a question from reporter Paul Olden about slugger Dave Kingman's hitting of three home runs during a June 4, 1976 11-0 victory by the Mets over the Dodgers
And I guaran-#######-tee you this, when I pitched and I was gonna pitch against a ####### team that had guys on it like Bevacqua, I'd send a ####### limosine to get the ####er to make sure he was in the mother####ing lineup because I'd kick that ####er's ### any ####### day of the week. He's a ####### mother####ing bigmouth, I'll tell you that."

I posted this in another thread, the poll between Mora and Green. It fits this thread much better, though it isn't a coach.

Alright, I know this is NFL, but this has simply got to be THE BEST sports rant ever. If you live in the Detroit area, or Lansing, you might know this guy. Mike Valenti is a former MSU student, who has moved on to sports talk radio in Detroit (1270). SI did an article centering around "The Rant" and the MSU collapse during the Notre Dame game. Its kinda long (12+ minutes), but worth listening to the whole thing.

Just a little info, Mike left the show early after this, and missed the next day of work from losing his voice. Long suffering Michigan State football fans will completly agree with this. Everyone else, its great entertainment.

Mike is a friend and I can feel his pain.

Mike Valenti - The MSU Rant

you have to download the file, sorry for those using dialup still

the RANT starts around the 7:30 mark into the segment
