Lions vs. Bengals Preseason 7:30 Eastern (1 Viewer)

One thing I've noticed about Cinci's offense is the Qb's Palmer and Fitzpatrick don't really look to dump the ball off to the RB much. I mean, they don't even look at the guy and both Perry and Watson can catch the ball.Very nice scramble by Fitzpatrick, went for just under 20 yards for a first down.
Believe me, maybe because it's preseason, but Palmer looks plenty to his rb's. It's almost annoying.
Ya, I know he did last year, Watson was solid in PPR. After watching last week and this week, I've just noticed the difference. Maybe they've talked about it, but you're right...it's funny what you notice when you own a player on a team. Last year, I would root for a screen pass to Watson. I'd be like, yep sweet, another point for that 3 yard catch LOL.

Please explain how you search for and find these. Someone had the 49er - Packer game linked last night too. Please forgive an old dunderhead for needing the explanation.
They have an entire NFL forum over at http://www.myp2p.eu/ and generally have all the games listed there. Also good for when I'm stuck at work, or don't wanna watch the local broadcast.
:lmao:

Nice!!

Here's the link in that site for the forum.

No sign of Simpson or Caldwell yet. Stanton either.

Should show the Megatron highlights here in a few minutes (halftime).

Woo hoo. Thanks!

Score is 7-7 at the half but I felt Detroit was the more physical team and the Lions starters outplayed Cinci's starters.

Highlights: The first 2 drives by the Lions belonged to Calvin Johnson. He's just a mismatch with his size and speed for any 1 DB and IF the Lions can give the QB enough time to give this guy the ball, he's in for a big year.

If both guys are healthy all season, I don't know how Calvin Johnson isn't clearly the top guy. Roy Williams will do OK and has looked pretty good too this offseason, it's no knock on him but Calvin can play this game at another level than Roy. Do not hesitate to draft Calvin over Roy in any kind of league, PPR, TD only, it doesn't matter.

The running game was pathetic. Kevin Smith had a 16 yard run, but that was on 2nd and 17 which the defense thought was a pass play coming. Outside of that, both Bell and Smith really had nowhere to go.

Orlovsky looks decent when he's not forced to move out of the pocket. He is reasonably accurate but it's easy to see why a guy like Kitna outplays him because Kitna is effective when rolling out and moving. In fact, the Lions plan on rolling Kitna out more this season, allowing him more time to throw the ball, something I don't think Orlovsky will be able to do well.

Looking forward to seeing Stanton in the 2nd half.

Fitzpatrick looked pretty good for Cinci. Obviously there's no QB controversy there but he's also got the No.2 job locked up, a nice 99 yard drive for a TD. Many of the plays were dink and dunks as the Lions weren't really aggressive.

2nd half about to start now, Cinci getting the ball.

Am I the only one who thinks Kitna is undervalued as a QB2?

How do Calvin J, K Smith, etc etc look?

Oh and where are TJ and Chaddy J?

Edit: thx for comments above......

First play of the 2nd half, a Lions sack by Davis. He stripped the ball and Fitzpatrick landed on it.

3 and out by Cinci, Orlovsky in to start the 2nd half and B. Calhoun in the backfield.

Kitna looks great so far. Calvin looks uncoverable. The run blocking is atrocious, the pass blocking has been very good. Same as last week. TJ didnt play. Chad hurt his shoulder. He was in a lot of pain when it happened, but walked to the locker room and didn't look to be in pain then.

Calhoun looking average on a few plays, then fumbles and the ball kiced back to Orlovsky who falls on it. 3rd and 14 and ugly incompletion to Ellis.

49 yard field goal by Rayner

1st play of the game, Kitna throws up a jump ball and Calvin Johnson just jumps up and grabs a 45 yard pass. It was single coverage.
Did Megatron look 10x better than Jerry Rice in his prime? :bag:
yes ;) he's uncoverable....db's can only hope he drops passes.
Reality check time. First, it's only the pre-season and it is the BENGALS we're talking about on defense.
Did you see any of the catches?

The 40 yard pass was not even fair. The CB could only watch Calvin come down with it. However i would rather not see him have to go up and get it like that. No CB could have covered him there. The TD pass there were 2 guys following him as he smoked them.

Fitzpatrick to Dorsey for a zero yard screen pass.

Cinci attempting the no huddle off a 1st down pass to Simpson. Dorsey up the middle for 6 yards. A very nice catch by Utecht, about a 20 yarder over his shoulder.

The Bengals gave up an average of 251 yards a game passing last season and had little to no pass rush. Anytime I see a player compared to Jerry Ricein a pre-season game against a defense that has been that bad against the pass, someone needs a reality check.Do I think Johnson will be a very good receiver? Sure. But a comparison to Jerry Rice and the season that Randy Moss had last season is a little over thetop.

Naked boot by Orlovsky, he almost got killed and almost took the safety.

Bad call, nobody is going to buy a boot leg by Orlovsky, the dude doesn't have any wheels.

Big blocks on the cinci punt team and they returned the ball down to the Lions 30ish.

Jeff Rowe now in at QB for the Bengals.

No. 5 Drew Stanton is warming up, he should be in on the next series.

Is that a yes or no to the question I asked?

I lied....Orlovsky STILL in. Artoose Pinner now in at RB, blast from the past.I said earlier the 2nd string QB job was still open for Detroit, it would be hard to make a case for that to start the season off. Orlovsky has gotten a lot of work, at least an entire half of play compared to whatever mop up time Stanton will get in the 4th quarter. You dynasty guys, no need to dust off Drew Stanton anytime soon if you're still holding onto him, he looks buried to me.

11:37 left in the 4th, no Stanton yet. It's 3rd and goal for the Lions in a passing situation, timeout Orlovsky. The previous play was a slant on 2nd down to Standeford which went incomplete.

Standeford wide open for Detroit, OK thrown ball by Orlovsky, 45 yard gain, a perfect pass would have been a TD.Pinner looks slow. Artoose is not loose....
don't let Assani/jvwdcw hear you say that
LOL, I forgot all about that.Is Assani, that poker guy the same as jvwdcw?I lied again, apparently it wasn't a passing situation, they run a draw play that went no where. Chip shot field goal, up 13-10.

This Rowe, the 3rd string qb for Cinci won't play long. He's terrible.....I don't bet preseason but I'd feel very comfortable if I had the Lions right now with the 3 point lead.

I don't see that guy leading them down for any scores.
