live Grateful Dead (1 Viewer)

im seriously thinking about a road trip for this - anyone from the area to give a hotel rec close to the stadium? Does Soldier Field have a good tailgate lot or is it better to cab it from the hotel?

There's a couple small lots south of the stadium for tailgating but not a ton of space. No hotels super close, but anything downtown in the loop is close enough.

I'm putting in for Tickets. Me and four friends were at the last five shows in 1995. All five are trying to make it for these shows.

Would be a cool "come full circle" deal.

So no Donna right? I am going to be pissed if I she'll out $200+ and she starts screeching on stage.

I bet the boos would rain down like glow sticks.

$215.50 Reserved & Limited ADA Tickets
$95.50 Reserved Tickets
$115.50 General Admission Pit & ADA Tickets (Both Limited)

This is going to be a hard ticket, probably harder than any Grateful Dead mail order with Jerry ironically. There was at least 10-15 people at my local P.O. for mail order at 10 am. Never seen anything like that on any Dead tour before. My buddy was at another post office at noon and he said there were 20 people there for mail order. Crazy.

Same here - bunch of 40+ yr olds getting money orders at the P.O. with decorated envelopes - quite a scene! Going to be tough ticket.

I am at the point of my life where if I want to see a show (and my wife and I are going to the 4rth) then I can understand that I am going to have to pay above face for a ticket and not really be that bummed. Hopefully though I can get one through the normal channels.

Hopefully when they release the packages on the 21rst they will not be astronomical and I can just go that route. But seeing how this is being considered a money grab......................

I'm on the fence. Chicago. Plane tickets. Accomodation. Already have plans to be in the Florida Keys with wife and kids. Logistics......

Is this going to be so overhyped? I never got to see the Dead (tried several times but didn't get miracled) and I'm a huge Phish fan - was a Tweezer fest in Bomb Factory '94 ;)

i saw them in philly, March 18, 1995. meh of a show, but i was glad to have been there close to the end. enjoy!

how long does it take to manufacture high

quality acid and doesn't anyone have a recipe?
a friend got tickets for all 3 shows, he plans on

tripping on 1 of the nights. any recomedations?
Find liquid, not paper. Take one hit and after 45 minutes when he is starting to feel it he should take a hit of ecstasy. His best bet with ecstasy is to buy powder, not press.
he all ready has the liquid. he is more curious as to which of the three shows to indulge.

Ha. My last lysergic experience was with e at the Phil & Friends (Kimock) run at Red Rocks in 1999. It's like training wheels, but that was pleasant.

Nobody has tickets yet.

They used to have shows aired live on public television from time to time and then PPV, and obviously were famous for having shows simulcast live on local/national radio. But that was primarily Jerry's influence. Phil and Jill have proven that they are not much like Jerry. I'm not sure what to anticipate. Obviously not free, but I have to assume there will be one. There is too much additional money to be made. Also read a rumor that the guy directing the Scorcese-produced GD documentary is going to be shooting. No idea if there is any truth to that or how it would impact the likelihood of a webcast.

candy flip

ratdog.org message board has a lot of good info re: mail order.

* GDTS has a significantly higher allotment of tickets than in the past

* Chances of getting tix should be good if you went for the $215 tix; if you ordered for GA PIT only, start planning for stubhub

* demand for these shows will be greater than anything GDTS has ever seen, likely including shows with Jerry

I am here to a mea cupla. The package deals for 2 people start at $2300 and add everything else in airfare, food, etc I can see this pushing 4-5K. Damn all of a sudden this gets expensive for one show. Going to have to rethink this. This kindof sucks

Definitely night 1 so that he can indulge the next couple nights if he enjoys.

Right when Donna opens her mouth?

Recently spent $3.99 for "the Archivist" app in the iTunes store. It's a 3rd party player for accessing Archive.org's motherload, and it's light years mo better than Archive's native app which caused me to never access Archive from mobile. Highly recommended.

As such, I've been listening to a lot more Dead lately than usual. I've run through all the JRAD shows which are fantastic - those guys really have found something. They are must see when they come to your city.

I'm now starting an ambitious project - listening to ALL of the Dead live catalog in sequence. I've developed a bad habit of going straight to '72, '73, and '77 shows and feel like I'm missing a ton of good ####. Probably never finish, but the fun is in the journey.

Started with the '65 recordings this AM. Boys were raw - but I can hear the seeds. Going to be a fun trip. :bye:

I started doing the math, thinking in terms of a show per day while at work, and the number starting getting into years very quickly, so I stopped. I'm content with doing Republican "math that makes me feel better" and acknowledging that it's a multi-year project.

Already paying dividends. An early Rider, though short, brought a smile. A 20 minute Good Morning Lil Schoolgirl from '66 is something I'd never heard but is great stuff.
