Liverpool FC - The Climb to a Superclub (1 Viewer)

Its probably a good thing that Liverpool did not have to play a lot of mid-week games this season.

And, now they have two more games in the next 6 days :scared:

It's awful man.  Nothing worse than a team that can't score and is struggling.  It feels like the net is 3 feet wide.

I expect a whole lot of kids in the FA cup this weekend.

the congestion, on top of the AFCON certainly came at a difficult period.

Liverpool now have to put a lot of faith in youth players to keep the FA Cup hopes alive, while facing a difficult Chelsea squad early next week.  I am guessing they secretly assumed they would have beaten Soton today, and could have made for a successful season by making a Cup Final.

Now they will be under a lot of pressure to keep a top-4 spot to salvage the season.  They could, of course, still beat Wolves with the utes, and open up a FA Cup run.

If they finish out of the top-4, then I think Klopp will be under a lot of pressure to deliver something next season, and any blip could be costly.

:lmao:

I like the thread title.

In keeping with that spirit, I saw this elsewhere:

Only Liverpool could spend £100m on Southampton players and still fail to beat them

Calculated risk by Klopp and FSG to go with a smaller sized roster this season.  Might bite them.

Hopefully, Mane returns and the teams remembers how to score.

Under the heading "Liverpool's Season in Unraveling," ESPNFC reports that LFC "are in crisis."  With that bit of information digested, I had no need to click - message received and appreciated!

Thin squad, Coutinho injury, Mane AFCON and major fixture congestion did this team in.

Klopp has to pick the pieces up for the Chelsea game.  But the good news is that there are only epl games the rest of the way!

Hard to spin this week positive, but this team just isn't built to compete on multiple fronts.

Fortunately the fixture congestion is almost over.  Klopp got rid of a ton of dead weight this past off-season, and he didn't "back-fill" those spots.  He's not one for wasting money, and to be honest, there wasn't a lot of game time.  So while Chelsea brings in Willian and Fabregas off the bench, we are bringing in Ben Woodburn and Ejaria.

I understand what Klopp was trying to do, I just don't think he thought it would go this wrong.  Right when we needed them, (with Mane gone) Sturridge and Origi both completely fell on their faces.

Good news?  Only 3 games in February.  Also, from now until the rest of the year, we don't have FA cup or Europe.  Hopefully that will be enough to get this team re-energized and to get back to the Champions League.

But yeah...you were right.  That fixture congestion killed this team.  They just aren't built for multiple games in a week.

This run isn't as bad as a LLL in the league

they're out of the cups, not a bad thing with a shallow squad. bummer the way they've played, but the FOCUS ON THE LEAGUE WILL BE STRONG #MANE
How do you lose 3 times in the league or FA cup?  Just a weird comment.

In context, I agree with him,  If you have to lose 3 in a row, it's good that only one is a league game.  Because whether the players or Klopp care about the domestic cups or not, I know that I sure as hell don't.
that's the wrong attitude to have, cups always matter when either Liverpool or ManU are losing in them :banned:

Well, on the bright side.  January is over.
Arsenal and Tottenham dropping points to bad teams was really big for Liverpool.   The fixture congestion is ALMOST OVER.

A win over Hull City and this rather thin squad is finally back to one game per week for the rest of the season.

This top 4 battle is going to be unbelievable.  Man City and ManU are both going to play a big part in it, and both teams have to be salivating over today's results.

3 transfer windows down, Klopp still starting 9 Brendan players from an average team.

One of the thing many LFC fans hoped for when he came was that he could attract elite talent.  That isn't happening and I think this squad has been figured out.

Such a Klopp out

I hate that Spurs are facing Liverpool when Pool are in a must-win situation.  A loss to Spurs probably makes top-4 untenable for Liverpool.
