Please post any updates...this the latest from the Injury Thread:

"Herm Edwards just said on the radio his starter Sunday against Denver at QB would be Huard. If there were any questions, there aren't any anymore. He also said Holmes, and Kolby Smith would be likely replacing LJ next week should LJ not be able to play. He said it was too early to count LJ out, but it is never a good sign when a player is unable to come off the field on their own weight."

Is Priest ready to take on a full load?

per Herm Edwards on the radio. (from another KC board)

It surely looks like an ankle sprain. How long is the recovery for this type of injury?
Depends on the degree of the sprain. Third degree sprains are the worst and involve ligament tears. I'm in pretty good shape as a marathoner and it took me nearly two months to run pain free after a 3rd degree sprain two years ago. It was a complete tear of the ATFL. Of course, I didn't have multiple doctors dotting over me on a daily basis, receiving constant treatment and the willingness ($$$) to run through the pain.

FWIWHerm says it's a sprained foot, not an ankle.(KC radio)
Yikes...until it can be formally diagnosed, don't they generally classify the dreaded Lis Franc, a sprained foot?
Lisfranc injuries occur at the midfoot, where a cluster of small bones forms an arch on top of the foot between the ankle and the toes.
same thing kevin jones had.
Kevin Jones, who had Lisfranc surgery on his left foot last December, must still deal with some soreness early in the week

... or worse yet, ball cancer!Speculation spiraling a little out of control?

So...any insight on who the guy to go get should be...Holmes or Smith?
Why would you think it would be one or the other????It will be both, Kolby is a rookie and Priest is a 34-year odl RB who has been out for 2 seasons.Hwo anyone can expect either one to carry the load is crazy. If LJ is out it will be RBBC.

FWIW -- they just rant burp again on radio score -- LJ went out with ankle injury -- looks bad could be break . I am thinking now maybe they are just speculating as well.

Remember this is a man who had his head turned all the way around and played the next week -- LJ is as tough as it gets

I guess, all in all, the news sounds positive compared to what people thought right after it happened. Although there's no official word, it seems like about 90% of the time the news would have leaked by now if there was an obvious season-ending injury.

Not out of the woods yet, by any means.

Guys - save the comedy for the Free For All. Please keep this on Larry Johnson and his foot / ankle injury.

TIA.

I don't know why doctors would feel the need to spend entire days putting small roundish marks on Larry Johnson.

Per Rotoworld.

The Kansas City Star's Jason Whitlock expects Larry Johnson (ankle) to miss at least one game.Johnson was fitted for a protective boot and needed crutches to get around after Sunday's loss to Green Bay. He was unable to walk, and his injury looked ugly when it happened. Priest Holmes appears likely to start against the Broncos in Week 10, with rookie Kolby Smith getting a few touches.

If he's out longer, I hope it's Brodie time. We may still be sitting in 1st in the AFC West, but you won't find many Chiefs fans that are drinkin the KoolAid. This team has a long way to go...

For those who don't know but write as if they do:

Lisfranc injuries are rare, complex and often times misdiagnosed. I would venture to say that it is actually difficult to fracture the Lisfranc, so please, for the sake of people browsing through this thread, stop writing about a Lisfranc injury when there is absolutely no indication that this is the truth. I have no problem with speculation, but ever since Kevin Jones had that injury, everyone throws the term around like it's a hot potato, when in fact they no nothing about the type of injury the lisfranc is.

that being said, i fully expect him out for 2-3 weeks with a bad foot sprain.

Is this one of those cases where they can't determine what's wrong until some swelling subsides?

I can't believe we have nothing...this could be at either end of the spectrum.

it must have been the 400th carry last year that caused this injury. or it could have been the 419th.

I was arguing against Brodie starting too soon, but I think *if* the coaches think Brodie has seen enough and is ready to take a stab, the time could be right soon. I personally think it is GREAT to wait on rookie QBs *at least* 2/3 through their first season. But the staff has to use their best judgment at this point, and I would like to see what the kid has. BTW, KC would be smart to keep Huard as the backup moving forward - you have to like the situation with those two IF Croyle shows promise.

I'll second that :goodposting:

Pure Speculation here--

The telling part of the replay for me is when it shows his foot/ankle come out from under Hawk's body. I replayed the play at least 10 times on my DVR and the foot/ankle looks to be at an unnatural angle (as its coming out of the turf and Hawk's body) in relation to his leg and looks to be "dangling", it looks as if the foot/ankle did not spring back to its normal position, similar to a broken ankle if you've ever seen one.

I'm hoping for the best, but I just don't feel good about this one.

I know nothing is definitive until there's an X-ray, but why would they be talking about the injury as a "probably won't play next week" situation? I know the answer is spin but if it was as serious as out for the year, I don't know why they would seemingly be downplaying it a bit so far.

I was looking at the same thing too, but then if you notice right before the injury that LJ's feet already point out that way before. But I do agree that it didn't look right at for glance. Also after watching the way Musa's ankle snapped last year i think there's no way they dont put that thing in an air cast immediately. I think if it was a break (not ruling out a fracture) i think he would have known right away.JMO

sounds like Broken foot - out for the year
 New news or speculation?
Going by Joe Kidd's analysis - he says the foot was dangling - sounds like it is broken
To be clear, what mac is saying here is that based purely on what the poster above said about the way his foot looked, mac is speculating that it's broken. This is just us talking here right now.It did look ugly to me too as I replayed it but definitely no way to know for sure just from the video. My PURE GUESS right now, is at least 2 weeks for best case. But that is purely speculation on my part. J

fracture is a break. break is a fractrure.

Seriously?

i dont have any concrete information on LJ but i really dont think there's any chance in hell he plays this week after seeing that and I think he'll be out a few weeks at the absolute minimum. Hoping i'm wrong but after watching the NFL for years, I dont think i'm going to be unfortunately

Shouldn't we have heard the results of the xrays by now? It's seemed to me like bones broken or not are generally cleared up pretty quickly.

While I tend to agree that we'll see RBBC, it's not unreasonable for people to speculate how this load will be carried, nor is it unfathomable that it might be Holmes shouldering the bulk of the duties, especially given that it was Holmes on the field, and not Kolby, when LJ came out. Indeed, Kolby has yet to get a single carry this entire season, while Holmes has been used, admittedly infrequently, over the last few games.Personally, I think it we'll see both backs come in to help carry the rock. But getting info/opinion on which one might be the primary ball carrier when there is uncertainty around LJ's injury, with many playing in leagues with deep rosters and thin waivers, is a worthy discussion.

*fingers crossed*

Here we go boys... Expect the worst, hope for the best.

I'm sure we'll have an actual update from docs by lunch today.
