Look at these league trade shenanigans (1 Viewer)

Wait til you see what the commish and my league did/said...

Start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, Flex, K, DST

My Team/Team A (4-0…luckily):

Stafford, Romo

CJ, Steven Jackson, DWill, Jacobs

Nicks, Steve Johnson, Denarius Moore

Gronkowski, Lewis

Kickers

Titans, Saints

His Team/Team B (3-1):

Henne (This was early in the week), Sanchez

McFadden, Jones-Drew, Best, Tolbert

Bowe, Dez Bryant, Decker

Keller, King

Kickers

Texans, Vikings

THE TRADE:

I give Romo, DWill, Titans

I get Jones-Drew, Henne, Vikings

**This was right after his QBs got him -2 and -5 points the week prior. He’s been in need of a QB and I got one to spare. He tried giving me Tolbert the week prior and I told him to pound sand. He came back this week and HE OFFERED ME the trade above. I could use the RB help, so I took it. It was basically a Romo for MJD...with a few pieces tossed in. Yea, I win in the deal...but it’s not unreal lopsided. (Defenses score quite a bit in this league...so the Titans are a good add for him.)

THE TWIST:

Our CBS money league is set up so it takes 8 objections to a trade, which is then sent to the Commish for review.

At about mid-day today...the “Setting” is changed so that it then only takes 7 objections...minutes later...big surprise...the 7th objection appears. This is shady, but ends up being a moot point because there end up being 8 objections...and the setting is changed back to how it was originally. It gets the required objections, and the Commish (whom I play this week) naturally disallows the trade.

Here is a correspondence I got from the commish:

That was my error. When reviewing the trade rule I noticed it stated the following:

Trade Policy Trades are subject to a 1-day voting period, where at most 7 objections are allowed. Trades receiving more than 7 objections are sent to the commissioner for approval.

The "more than 7 objections" was what I was confused about so I went into the setup to examine if this meant 7 objections or 8 objections. I inadvertently changed it to 6 while in this and did not notice it till later in the day and it was subsequently changed back.

(Yeah right!!! You can't inadvertantly change league settings....but I digress)

And as you pointed out it ultimately made no difference since THE ENTIRE LEAGUE except for the two involved in the trade and Team B's division voted a resounding NO since this would have clearly made your team way better (already at 4-0) and hurt Team B hence his division foes voting yes for the trade.

(REALLY??? How kind of the Commish and the rest of the league to look out for the betterment of this other team...who btw has one of the more dominant teams in the league as is, and has scored the 3rd most points. Mind you, my team is 4-0, but it's 5th in points. Is it justifiable for a league and commish to act like this? I certainly think it's bs. Or am I way off base?)

I hope this clarifies your question / concern.

The Commish

Fair trade. Leagues - I'm in 1 with friends where owners can veto I actually don't even attempt to trade.

We had one trade where league vetoed and said it was fair but improved both teams so they vetoed.

You got hosed. I commish 2 long standing leagues and we generally let people trade freely without even a review. The only time we even look into it is when it reeks of possible collusion. Other than that unless a trade is egregious (like Craig lumpkin for megatron) we let it pass.

And that's how it should be.

Your commish sounds like he has a lot of "moral flexibility" when it suits him and given all these setting changes are logged and publicly visible, probably isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer either...

Quit any league that allows other owners (including a commish) to run your team for you (by vetoing/approving trades). HTH.

In my money league we went with a three man trade review, seems to work better than commish or league vote.

No trades have been vetoed this year.

Just quit.
Drop your roster, its the only classy move at this point.
:goodposting: Normally I'd think that's childish and immature but that's a terrible veto. That guy obviously needs a QB and has pretty good RB depth. It's one of those trades where both sides win. Please do something drastic and keep us posted. You and team B should be putting up a huge hissy fit about this.

I think allowing the rest of the league to veto trades is lame for this very reason - it encourages owners to exercise veto power when it's not called for. I think any trade should be allowed unless there is clear evidence of collusion available. But if those are the rules you agreed to at the beginning of the season, you can't really cry about those same rules being upheld.

I agree the whole thing with changing the veto threshhold could be fishy, but like you noted, 8 people did eventually veto so it was a moot point. And he did change the setting back to what it originally was. Whether or not you want to drop out because it's a crappy league is up to you, but I don't see any infraction of the rules by the commissioner here.

If it is a money league, then you probably want to stick with it for the rest of the season and not return next year.

Otherwise, unless it's a league with your co-workers, I think the best thing to do is probably do the one finger salute to the other league members and drop your entire your roster.

If you are smart enough/serious enough to be on the FBG boards, then you should know better than to be in a league that allows other owners to vote down trades they don't like.

Go to the Looking for Leagues board, find the right price, and join a league with LeagueSafe.

if you are friends with these guys, hey, no problem. Everyone that has dooshbag friends should find out sooner or later.

im close to being special and getting extra time on tests but even i dont see a problem here except for your league members voting no on this and basically the only ceahters here are the guys who said no because they did it only to help there teams and not because thetrade was bad and basically i hope they all sprain there ankles tonight
