Wait til you see what the commish and my league did/said...
Start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, Flex, K, DST
My Team/Team A (4-0…luckily):
Stafford, Romo
CJ, Steven Jackson, DWill, Jacobs
Nicks, Steve Johnson, Denarius Moore
Gronkowski, Lewis
Kickers
Titans, Saints
His Team/Team B (3-1):
Henne (This was early in the week), Sanchez
McFadden, Jones-Drew, Best, Tolbert
Bowe, Dez Bryant, Decker
Keller, King
Kickers
Texans, Vikings
THE TRADE:
I give Romo, DWill, Titans
I get Jones-Drew, Henne, Vikings
**This was right after his QBs got him -2 and -5 points the week prior. He’s been in need of a QB and I got one to spare. He tried giving me Tolbert the week prior and I told him to pound sand. He came back this week and HE OFFERED ME the trade above. I could use the RB help, so I took it. It was basically a Romo for MJD...with a few pieces tossed in. Yea, I win in the deal...but it’s not unreal lopsided. (Defenses score quite a bit in this league...so the Titans are a good add for him.)
THE TWIST:
Our CBS money league is set up so it takes 8 objections to a trade, which is then sent to the Commish for review.
At about mid-day today...the “Setting” is changed so that it then only takes 7 objections...minutes later...big surprise...the 7th objection appears. This is shady, but ends up being a moot point because there end up being 8 objections...and the setting is changed back to how it was originally. It gets the required objections, and the Commish (whom I play this week) naturally disallows the trade.
Here is a correspondence I got from the commish:
That was my error. When reviewing the trade rule I noticed it stated the following:
Trade Policy Trades are subject to a 1-day voting period, where at most 7 objections are allowed. Trades receiving more than 7 objections are sent to the commissioner for approval.
The "more than 7 objections" was what I was confused about so I went into the setup to examine if this meant 7 objections or 8 objections. I inadvertently changed it to 6 while in this and did not notice it till later in the day and it was subsequently changed back.
(Yeah right!!! You can't inadvertantly change league settings....but I digress)
And as you pointed out it ultimately made no difference since THE ENTIRE LEAGUE except for the two involved in the trade and Team B's division voted a resounding NO since this would have clearly made your team way better (already at 4-0) and hurt Team B hence his division foes voting yes for the trade.
(REALLY??? How kind of the Commish and the rest of the league to look out for the betterment of this other team...who btw has one of the more dominant teams in the league as is, and has scored the 3rd most points. Mind you, my team is 4-0, but it's 5th in points. Is it justifiable for a league and commish to act like this? I certainly think it's bs. Or am I way off base?)
I hope this clarifies your question / concern.
