What's this have that Boom 2 doesn't? I got Boom 2 for $180 and I'm wondering if I may be better off with the mega.Got a UE MegaBoom for $250 and I absolutely love it.
- Freakishly amazing 360-degree sound with deep bass
- Waterproof (IPX7) grab n' go shape that is shockingly light-1.93 pounds
- 100 ft. Bluetooth wireless range, 20-hour rechargeable battery and ultra-fast micro USB charging ( Actual wireless range and battery life will vary with use, settings and environmental conditions)
- UE MEGABOOM app for additional features and control
- Gets better all the time through wireless, over-the-air speaker updates
I was actually thinking one of the Ion Audio speakers.Marshall Stanmore
Size matters.  The mega has better battery life,  I would assume increased speaker size etc. What's this have that Boom 2 doesn't? I got Boom 2 for $180 and I'm wondering if I may be better off with the mega.

Just tried to cancel my boom 2 order and replace with this. Boom 2 is on its way...Had the Mega at family gathering all 4th of July weekend and all the guys were very impressed (the ladies didnt care). It played music from sun up till sun down and was plenty loud. We used on the deck, at the camp fire and on the lake. Zero issues and it was plenty loud.
I have this one too, zero complaints, sounds as good, better? than my buddy's Bose.I just got this one: Anker SoundCore for $36 on Amazon. Really good sound, easy to pair, and the battery seems to be really good on it too.
My dad has a Bose and even he was saying that the Anker sounded as good as the Bose and for a 1/3 of the cost.I have this one too, zero complaints, sounds as good, better? than my buddy's Bose.
It's $28 compared to $300. We use it on the patio, picnics and my daughters use it during there 2 hour showers.I had an Oontz prior to the Megaboom and it doesn't compare. Granted it was a few years ago and much cheaper, but the Oontz sound had very little bass and the volume was maybe half of what a Megaboom has. I was embarrassed to take it on the golf course. Now, with my Megaboom, people 3-4 fairways over can hear my hair metal if I want them to.
You may struggle with this price range to find something loud enough for outdoor/beach use. 20' feet on the patio is probably no big deal, but a beach setting is more challenging, and you likely want something water resistant. There are some lower cost ones with decent sound...great for an office or a room in your house, but bigger sound/water resistance will come at a slightly higher cost.Bump for Christmas 2016. Looking for a Bluetooth speaker, mainly for use at home, but would like to take it with to the beach. So looking for one that can be plugged in at home and not be on regular batteries, but unplugged and portable for the beach. (Not sure if all are rechargeable, and if they are, can it be plugged into an outlet or USB brick in an outlet? I don't have a computer on my patio where it would be used most often) Doesn't need to be super loud, but loud enough to be 20' away and still hear well outside)
Sorry, I'm pretty clueless on these and there are a ton on the market. If it matters, would be streaming from Apple Music from iPhone. Can a decent one be found for $50-75 ?

I have the same one and have used it at our cottage (over 20' but no other noise) and a music festival (lots of other noise but not 20' out) worker great in both situations. I think it sounds great and fantastic for the price. It's not waterproof if that's a beach concern.Galileo said:I bought one of these from Anker a couple months ago. I have been very pleased with its sound quality and long battery charge life. It isn't beach loud, but I use it in a 1400 sq ft classroom without any issues.
I had the HK Onyx too. Sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, the battery life is terrible. Less than 1 hour in reality, which takes away its portability factor.A couple deals on Groupon
HK Onyx $79
I know a teenager who loves it though one of the legs broke too easily. It was originally $399, which was absurd. It's been $109-149 for the past year with good enough reviews at that number.
Jawbone Big Jambox $89
It's typically been around $150. Has good reviews and won some awards, made plenty of top rated lists. My guess is it's worth the extra $10.
List a few in that price range. I'm making gifts of a few of these.I had the HK Onyx too. Sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, the battery life is terrible. Less than 1 hour in reality, which takes away its portability factor.
Jambox, while once a leader, is no longer competitive with the units currently on the market. Many better options now.
