Looks like MBIII may get his chance to start.... (1 Viewer)

Julius Jones-RB-Cowboys Mar. 12 - 1:50 pm et

The Cowboys have told teams that Julius Jones can be had for the right price, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

The new coaching staff may be poised to let Marion Barber III, who scored 16 TDs last season, get his chance at the beginning of games. Jones was inconsistent but averaged 4.1 yards-per-carry in 2006 and is only 25, so he should bring back a third-round pick, if not more.

Where will JJ fit in, in this "was crowded" marketplace? GB? There aren't many starting jobs left.

And, if this happens, where does MBIII climb to in redrafts and dynasty leagues, respectively?

So glad I drafted Steven Jackson instead of Julius Jones. I guess for a second rounder he's not as much of a bust as a high first rounder. Still, I thought the kid would do better.

I would not trust this.....sounds way to speculatory.

Who is the Philly Inquirer's source.....do they even have one?

And before anyone asks, I am not a JJ guy or a MB III guy.....just wanting to show this is not "fact".

What do MBIII owners think of this?
this makes me happy if it pans out but I've been hearing rumurs that dallas was shopping JJ for a while now so I'll wait until something actually happens before I start jumping for joy.

Makes me feel even better about trading rookie pick 1.09 for him last week. I agree with Kevin though that this statement shouldn't be taken as fact just yet. Although MBIII is the better, more complete RB, IMO.

Since I own them both, I'd LOVE to see them split up.

Julius in Tennessee would be just what my team needs, after watching every other f-ing RB change teams this winter!

You got him for 1.09? That was a STEAL even before this news.
 The previous owner of MBIII probably would have had to cut him for cap reasons. He has a nice group of RBs and MBIII was his #4/#5 anyway. Even though it favored my side, he at least got something instead of cutting him and getting nothing. Chances are he might have been able to get more if he activly shopped him. I like to move in before anyone else and make a deal fast so that helped it to work out well for me.

not convinced there is much to it. I am an MB3 owner..

if true, this tells me Parcells actually had a say when the Jets came sniffing about Julius last year at this time...

EVERYTHING else that happened last season tells me Bill may have placed the grocery order , but Jerry decided what brand, and the expiration dates..

Isn't Julius on his last year of his contract?

I would think maybe Green Bay would perhaps give something for him.

I think he's fairly cheap.

This is going to make my decision of what 2 RBs to keep very difficult.

I'm picking between Benson, MBIII and Brandon Jacobs.

I think MBIII may be the best of the bunch talent wise but I'm going to have to wait it out and see who has the best opportunity.

 seemed obvious even before this news. barber and benson.

I wonder how Jerry Jones views this
Depends on how Marcus Spears turns out, who they got with the Bills 1st in 2005. Right now I think he'd prefer SJax over JJ and Spears, but at least they got MBIII for a 4th round pick.

Cowboys would be better off just keeping jones than what they are going to get for him imo.
I agree, if this trade go down though, JJ will be in a very very good position. If I was a JJ owner this will be something to I'd be looking forward to, trust me. That's all I have and I'm out.

What trade are you referring to? Is there a particular team JJ has been linked to?

Yes, but they just signed a rb. I'm trying to be careful with my words. But the team is mentioned in this thread. He's been told that he'll get his chance to start, considering the trade goes through. If I was an owner of JJ I'd hold him again if this trade goes down he'll be in great shape.

Well, since it's gotten out the team is/was Buffalo but the signings may suggest that things have not gone according to plan. I'm also curious as to whom the boyz were/are bringing in to spell III.http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=308715

That would be interesting. As for the folks thinking JJ would be a good fit in Green Bay, I would agree except that they throw alot to the RB and JJ has not been a good receiver in the past.

Funny. Just saw this on nfl.com http://nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10057134

I bet the "nfl source" is the Philly article.

With the new coaching regime, any chance MB3 gets the nod anyway? Or is JJ the "starter" as long as he's there?
