Only one reason to delay this announcement. Ferguson (and Oakland, I guess) are going to explode.Just heard. Public announcement on Sunday. So do I watch football or riots? Touch call. What a stupid day if true.No announcement yet?
http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/19/justice/ferguson-grand-jury-ruling/index.htmlFerguson, Missouri (CNN) -- The grand jury hearing evidence on the Michael Brown shooting is preparing to meet Friday for what might be its final session, and a decision on whether to charge Officer Darren Wilson could come the same day, law enforcement officials briefed on the plans said.
40's and rain. Perfect weather to keep these losers inside.Interesting day to pick. Uses up the whole weekend, so you don't have Friday night & Saturday night issues. Of course, the NFL will have a lot of people occupied. And, as of right now, weather.com shows the Sunday forecast for the St. Louis area as upper 40s with 100% chance of rain during the day.Just heard. Public announcement on Sunday. So do I watch football or riots? Touch call.
The only thing more they could have asked for is a windy, bitter-cold snow day. But all-day rain in chilly air will suffice.
I was being sincere in my thanks to you- I assumed you posted that for the laughs. You seem too smart to take that kind of race-baiting nonsense seriously.Gary Coal Man said:You're welcome.TobiasFunke said:Thank you to the poster and the trusted folks at the National Review for bringing their wide-ranging expertise and insight in these matters to us.
In the future I'll be sure to only post things that TobiasFunke approves of. Hopefully Ta-Nehisi Coates publishes an article on Ferguson tomorrow.
Well the piece is particularly awful, but the entire publication has taken a huge turn for the worse lately. Three weeks ago they devoted a massive cover story to trashing Lena Dunham. It was just an excuse to call her fat and privileged- seriously, the National Review, a conservative magazine founded by the Yale-educated son of an oil baron whose current banner ad asks readers to "enjoy fine wine, and help National Review", trashed someone else for their privileged upbringing. Also to allege a false rape accusation despite zero support for their allegation, and to relay detailed information about the genitalia of the women in her family. Really top notch journalism, as cataloged here.I reaize The National Review is a conservative publication, but I did think that it had a good journalistic reputation. For instance, they have declined to endorse the Republican Party candidate for President many times (e.g. no nod for Reagan in '80 or '84, ditto for Bush Sr. in 1992 and Mitt Romney in 2012).
But then, what Gary C posted was an opninion piece by Heather McDonald, not a news piece. Tobias, surely your fundamental beef is with McDonald's ideas, correct, rather than the outlet itself?
there's not "all the rioters". Most of the protestors have been peaceful and did not riot.I ate lunch in Ferguson yesterday after a client meeting and it seemed fine to me. On top of that, there were probably 60-70 people in the restaurant, and all but 2 were black, and one of the black guys was a cop. Where do all the rioters come from in that demographic?
HOW heavy are the rains? If the cold weather joke was tabled, you know someone's going to bring up swimming....Doug B said:Interesting day to pick. YeahYou're in Clayton? I'm guessing you're already know this, but the protestors are planning on shutting down your town on decision day. Should be fun.Just got a work email that the announcement is Sunday.

Water cannons and cold weather should help. One of my best friends on this earth works at a hospital in a St. Louis suburb.
He's been placed on call Sunday because hospital officials have been told to expect no charges to be filed for the officer.
My city is going to burn. :(
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/fbi-arrests-2-men-for-buying-explosives-near-ferguson/The FBI arrested two men Thursday night accused of purchasing explosives they apparently planned to use during protests in Ferguson, Missouri, a law enforcement source told CBS News.
The men, who live in the St. Louis area, are allegedly members of the new Black Panthers. They were arrested as part of an FBI undercover operation near Ferguson and intended to use the explosives in pipe bombs, the source confirmed.
The suspects, whose names were not released, were arraigned in federal court on Friday.
I had my leg blown off by a domestic terrorist, and I understand why.Black Panthers busted buying explosives. This thing is gonna get real ugly.

They're probably the same two guys who were standing outside that polling booth in 2008. So far as I know, the New Black Panther Party only has two members...Black Panthers busted buying explosives. This thing is gonna get real ugly.

I think they were to busy getting ripped out of vehicles and beaten.God, I can't wait until this city burns to the ground. Nothing but opportunists.
How many white people rioted after OJ was found not guilty?
So you would rather an innocent man be railroaded into a grand jury charge than hold the people who are going to burn your city responsible? One of my best friends on this earth works at a hospital in a St. Louis suburb.

WTF are you Obama, are you to stupid to see what is going to happen, you encouraging it by doing nothing. Of course he is doing nothing on purpose, he will show his outrage and understanding after it is too late. He should be held responsible for his non action. What a POS he is.Many protestors have arrived by bus and by car from Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn and elsewhere. They will not give their names. But their leaders say they are ready to fight, some with guns in their hands. “This is not the time for no peace,” said one man, a
27-year-old who made the trip here from Chicago. Police on the streets Monday night said some of those wearing red bandannas are members of the Bloods gang. DeAndre Smith, fresh from looting the QuikTrip on a recent night, told reporters: “I’m proud of us. We deserve this, and this is what’s supposed to happen when there’s injustice in your community. St. Louis — not going to take this anymore.” Dennis Brown, a community activist, described St. Louis and suburbs such as this one as a pot ready to boil over. He said social media has become, in ways similar to its use in recent popular uprisings in the Arab world, an essential organizing tool.

What scares me is that there are a lot of people with absolutely no training buying guns to protect their families and businesses from harm by the thugs that will loot and burn because they are allowed to. I fear there will be a lot of deaths on both sides and because the cops are being held back and will not be able to protect life and property things will spiral out of control and be mafe worse than if the cops were able to do their jobs.
Why is not the president out in front of this along with the Justice Department.

I don't think you can be AG when you owe $4.5mm in back taxes.Al Sharpton would have made a better AG than Holder. Holder is the worst possible mix of incompetence and a total hackoff.
Interesting point. There's a high chance of riots eventually. Might as well get them out of the way so they can start rebuilding...again.I have no idea of whether or not Darren Wilson is guilty or innocent, but the way this is being handled is setting up a race war regardless of the outcome. I guess if he is indicted there is a higher likelihood of no riots because white people are busy preparing their Turducken - but then what? More riots if he doesn't get the death penalty or his burning body hung from a bridge?
Pardon him.I don't think you can be AG when you owe $4.5mm in back taxes.Al Sharpton would have made a better AG than Holder. Holder is the worst possible mix of incompetence and a total hackoff.

He should contact a Dr. if it last more than 4 hoursThe riots are finally upon us. This is the moment many of you have been waiting for. I'm not sure how icon is going to make it through the next two days with that constant erection.

Where the hell did I say that? It's long been established that these knuckle-dragging mother ####ers will get violent with either decision, but no charges will really incite them.GrandpaRox said:So you would rather an innocent man be railroaded into a grand jury charge than hold the people who are going to burn your city responsible?Brady Marino said:One of my best friends on this earth works at a hospital in a St. Louis suburb.

Is that one guy holding a mop?You mean their threat to use retaliatory violence on violent rioters? Yeah, horrible. What kind of miscreants want to protect innocent civilians from harm or their property from destruction. They're almost as bad as the Koreans who defended their neighborhoods with rifles during the LA riots and the Sikhs who defended their neighborhoods with swords during the UK riots. Oh wait, both of those groups were positively received by the public.seahawk 17 said:Anyone cover the KKK threats yet?
http://dailycaller.com/2014/11/21/black-panther-leader-indicted-on-federal-gun-charges-near-ferguson/Prediction: he won't be indicted. There will be a few instances of violence as a result, but not nearly what people here seem to be expecting. The vast majority of protests will be peaceful. The media, especially Fox News, will make much more out of the few violent incidents than is deserved , and that in turn will be swallowed up whole by the GrandpaRox types of this country who believe that "these people are savages who can't control themselves".

And as I wrote earlier, when you're referring to "they", it's probably the same two knuckleheads.http://dailycaller.com/2014/11/21/black-panther-leader-indicted-on-federal-gun-charges-near-ferguson/Prediction: he won't be indicted. The Black Panthers should stick to voter intimidation...they are much better at that...
I am not sure what exactly you expect him to do. Send in US troops? Report: No 'excuse for violence' in Ferguson, Obama says
Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) -- President Barack Obama joined the call for calm with word a Missouri grand jury considering whether to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown was close to making a decision.
"This is a country that allows everybody to express their views. Allows them to peacefully assemble, to protest actions that they think are unjust," the President told ABC News in an interview excerpt broadcast on Friday.
"But using any event as an excuse for violence is contrary to rule of law and contrary to who we are."
And the funny thing is that they didn't actually intimidate any voters (according to reports). It was an almost an all black precinct and everybody just ignored them, no complaints or reports from voters or potential voters that they felt intimidated or didn't vote because of this. No one took these clowns seriously at the time except the Fox News crowd, but it remains a big story in the right wing blogosphere.Because I just don't believe there's that many people (I use that word advisedly) in this whole organization. They're a white racist's dream of what the "angry black man" is truly like.
OK if they're not the same two dudes then they probably know each other. Cousins maybe.
