NOPEIs anyone expecting Sproles to be very productive going up against Baltimore?
I agree, and if LT were to miss significant time this year (which is unlikely, imo) Bennett would be the play.I think you'll see a good dose (10-12 carries + 1-2 Receptions) for Michael Bennett. Should tiny Sproles get pummelled by the tough Ravens D, those numbers could go up dramatically.Bennett looked pretty good in preseason and in the playoffs last season.
I hope you're right.Good. Much rather have him rest than test that banged up ankle against the Ravens. I would not have started him anyways this week. Makes the decision easier and cannot second guess now. Expect Gates to have a big game now given the Chargers will be in a lot of 2nd and 3rd and longs all game.
Norv Turner was quoted as saying Bennett was his "back-up plan" should LT get injured.Ravens coach John Harbaugh notes that the Ravens have to account for Bennett. "That's always been the case with LaDainian. We expect him to play. If not, Michael Bennett can play. Darren Sproles, everybody has been talking about him all week, but Michael Bennett can play. We've seen him before."I agree, and if LT were to miss significant time this year (which is unlikely, imo) Bennett would be the play.I think you'll see a good dose (10-12 carries + 1-2 Receptions) for Michael Bennett.

could the Bolts actually be better with Bennett/Sproles combo over LT/Sproles combo?
No.could the Bolts actually be better with Bennett/Sproles combo over LT/Sproles combo?
It was supposed to be a jab. I shouldn't joke about LT like that in these parts. A lot of sensitive folks.Good. I've been looking for another trend to latch on to.

sigh.Gotta love week one.LT punked out of playing Baltimore, called it yesterday. Week 4 I doubt he'll play, he won't want his rep hurt from playing the Steelers. Week 3 he plays a stingy Miami D so he might be out for 3 weeks, it's all about appearances. Week 5 he has a bye so i'm sure the bye will do miracles since he will be out there for week 6-8 run vs. denver, kc and oakland, surely he'll sprain something just in time for week 9 at NYG.
I really think you nailed it ColomboI am OK with LT getting some good rest for the FF playoffs. Don't rush back LT. AgreedAnyone who took him in RD 1 is saying "I knew it!!!", anyone who passed on him is saying "I knew it!!"Either way, LT has a few cake games later in the season, might be worth sending out feelers for him of you can afford it.Lets go ahead and call a spade a spade. Anyone who took LT in round 1 has an uphill battle this year. LT apologists have to stop.
Oh, I think I can handle LT on my Bench. Lets see... I have ADP, Sproles, Bell, Bush, Moreno, and Brown in a pinch....Lets go ahead and call a spade a spade. Anyone who took LT in round 1 has an uphill battle this year. LT apologists have to stop.

ADP fell to you in RD2?Oh, I think I can handle LT on my Bench. Lets see... I have ADP, Sproles, Bell, Bush, Moreno, and Brown in a pinch....Lets go ahead and call a spade a spade. Anyone who took LT in round 1 has an uphill battle this year. LT apologists have to stop.![]()
No, I traded Pierre T, and Brees after Brees had that huge week #3 presesaon game for ADP. Basically my 2nd and 3rd for ADP....Oh, I think I can handle LT on my Bench. Lets see... How about you guys stop consuming yourself with "calling" situations and I told-you-so posts.....especially after a week. This forum is littered with them and the SP is almost un-readable the morning after games. LT had a decent week 1 and is vs Bal this week. Nobody was expecting him to have a huge game this week. I think 9 out of 10 LT owners are glad he's sitting this week.AgreedAnyone who took him in RD 1 is saying "I knew it!!!", anyone who passed on him is saying "I knew it!!"Either way, LT has a few cake games later in the season, might be worth sending out feelers for him of you can afford it.Lets go ahead and call a spade a spade. OK, just checkinIf I were an LT owner, the most concerning thing to me would be missing games do to injuries..You realize LT is OUT this week?Just saying, anyone on either side of the fence is now feeling the same feeling. How about you guys stop consuming yourself with "calling" situations and I told-you-so posts.....especially after a week. That's just crazy talk. I don't think anyone is ever happy when one of their players is sitting. Even if Baltimore is a tough matchup and even if I might have considered benching him anyway (I wouldn't have), it's always better to have the option. How about you guys stop consuming yourself with "calling" situations and I told-you-so posts.....especially after a week. It's a little deeper than just a player sitting. It's a high pick, mostly likely your #1RB that just rolled his ankle and is up against one of the best run D's in the league. The extra week of rest is worth it to LT owners in the long run, especially when he wasn't going to really win anybody games this week.Alot of feedback from LT owners in these threads seem to think you are wrong. That's just crazy talk. LT owners that have Sproles are much happier with the situation, than those w/o him. They are going to be passing a ton obviously and he should have 5-6 recs easily.Hmmm interesting. KC offense with Croyle played very well against the Ravens vaunted D. I think Sproles puts on good numbers this week. It's just hard to shut this guy down.
Good RBs have had good games against good defenses in the past. If the choice was "have Tomlinson sit for one week" or "have Tomlinson at reduced effectiveness for the whole season", then I'll choose the former... but nobody knows that that's the reality, they're just guessing. And if given *ANY* choice, my choice would obviously be "Tomlinson doesn't sit for one week *AND* Tomlinson isn't at reduced effectiveness for the rest of the season".When players miss games, it's always bad. Granted, it might be better than the alternative, but that doesn't mean it's a GOOD thing.imagroid said:It's a little deeper than just a player sitting. If this was true, wouldn't Bennett have gotten a carry last week when LT was out for 1/2 the game? Maybe they didn't have enough plays in the gameplan for Bennett, but that would essentially say they don't trust him to run their offense, or that sproles was a better fit. I wonder if the Bennett stuff is a little smokescreen.BAT1man said:Norv Turner was quoted as saying Bennett was his "back-up plan" should LT get injured.Ravens coach John Harbaugh notes that the Ravens have to account for Bennett. USA Today says: "Darren Sproles and Michael Bennett will likely split carries for the Chargers in Tomlinson's place when the Ravens arrive in San Diego for Sunday's game."
Scout.com says this about Bennett, "Plus, there are some decent alternatives to Tomlinson.
Darren Sproles showed again in the opener why he is such a weapon. Although considering his slight frame and his kickoff and punt return duties, he's not a back asked to do the heavy lifting.
If the Chargers want to have Sproles around late, they can't overwork him early.
Michael Bennett was once a 1,000-yard back in Minnesota. And while he likely won't get 25 carries against the Ravens, Bennett, a nine-year pro, is ready to help fill in for Tomlinson.
Bennett came to the Chargers late last year after being cut by Tampa Bay. He saw the field briefly in the two playoff games when Tomlinson was ailing and was brought back against somewhat stacked odds to make the team out of camp.
But the Chargers kept him on the roster -- even at the expense of losing fourth-round pick Gartrell Johnson to the Giants on waivers.
That move could pay off if Bennett can produce Sunday, taking heat off Rivers from a pass rush which would love to have him in third-and-longs."
Don't just assume its going to be Sproles all day long. Bennett will get his. Maybe more than we think.![]()
