Lucky to be alive... (1 Viewer)

Wow. Any injuries involved?

That situation is the one that makes the most nervous when I'm driving. Seeing someone coming up in me fast while I'm sitting at a light scares the crap out of me. Especially when my daughter is in the back seat.

Someone was watching over you. Amazing that you're OK given the damage.

Was the driver who hit you texting? I don't know how you plow into someone who's stopped like that unless they simply weren't paying any attention.

Or passed out, or dead or a lot of things

Glad you're okay dude.

Holy crap what did that feel like?  Did you see him coming in the mirror or totally off guard?

Glad you're ok man.  Looks like a Prius that was ripped apart like confetti.

My wife drove a prius and one day I decided to stay home with the kids and told her to take my SUV.  That afternooon she was in a similar accident as yours - some guy in a larger SUV driving well above the speed limit who didn't stop in time.  My SUV was totalled.  All I could think of was how lucky she was to not be driving her Prius.  The image you shared is what I imagined would've happened to her.

Holy ####. Glad you are ok.

Send that pic to Toyota and tell him you lived to tell about it. You'll be famous and they will probably reward you with a pigeon meal with all the fixin's.

the good news....no broken bones...

the bad news...my golf clubs and push cart are history.... :(

That photo seems like kind of a metaphor for the Cardinals' season.

Seriously though, that's pretty scary.  Glad you're okay.  Hope the other driver gets his license revoked.  How the hell can you rear-end somebody at that kind of speed?

I was #5 in a moderate speed 6 car pile-up a few decades ago.  I had stopped inches behind #4, but looked in my mirror to see #6 coming hard enough to knock me into #4  To this day, when I brake suddenly, my eyes still shoot to the mirror and I tense up.

ydoc, glad you're OK ...hopefully you didn't see it develop in your mirror.  Take good care!

yep I was rear ended once pretty bad (not as bad as above) and had post traumatic stress for months at every traffic light.

I was in a similar situation but slower speeds of about 35 mph.  I saw in my rear view mirror a car approaching fast and not preparing to stop so I quickly moved to the passing lane.  The car locked up its brakes and stopped in the space where I would have been and missed hitting the car in front of him.

Especially in what looks like perfect weather, no rain, no snow, no ice. Understanding that in those conditions you should slow down anyway!

Hope everything is OK, ydoc.
