THE NEWS

Marshawn Lynch continued to rotate in with the first team during the Bills first day at minicamp on Monday. "We're doing a lot of the same things that I did at Cal with coach [Jeff] Tedford," Lynch told the team's official website. "Lining me up at receiver, making catches out of the backfield and getting carries. I feel good about all that I'm being asked to do."

Our View

Tedford ran a pro-style offense at Cal, which is one of the reasons we fully expect Lynch to step in and be an impact rookie right away. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield will also give the Bills another dimension that they didn't have for the last few seasons with Willis McGahee. Lynch continues to rotate in with Anthony Thomas for the time being, but it's expected he'll earn the No. 1 job without much problem by Week 1.
He may have a better season than ADP.

He'll get his share of the work. He's been working some with the first team from the beginning. He got more work the last couple of days with the first team though because Thomas has some sort of minor leg injury right now.

He probably will due to opportunity but his schedule against the run is pretty ridiculous. Here's their schedule and the run defense rank from last year...DENVER BRONCOS (12)@ Pittsburgh Steelers (3)@ New England Patriots (5)NEW YORK JETS (24) - but improved significantly in the 2nd halfDALLAS COWBOYS (10)BYEBALTIMORE RAVENS (2)@ New York Jets (24)CINCINNATI BENGALS (15) @ Miami Dolphins (8)NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (5)@ Jacksonville Jaguars (4)@ Washington Redskins (27)MIAMI DOLPHINS (8)@ Cleveland Browns (29)NEW YORK GIANTS (14)@ Philadelphia Eagles (26) Of course things change from year to year but a lot of those defenses are pretty stout year after year, (Pitt/Balt/NE/Mia/Jax/etc.).

Lynch will have a big impact this season. He's a very solid receiver and has some nice speed. I can easily see him going for 1,000 rushing yards and 400-500 receiving yards. The big question will be whether he can score some TDs. But as a late-round pick, I like Lynch a lot.

With all the hype that Peterson and CJ are getting Lynch has been the forgotten "stud in progress."

This makes me feel a little better about taking him over CJ at 1.2 (had Caddy and Norwood as my RB2-3).

Last night on Bills cam (NFL Total Access) Derrick Dockery was comparing him to Marshall Faulk with his all around ability & quickness! I know that's a serious stretch, but things are sounding pretty positive for him so far.

 I was glad he fell to me at 1.3. CJ has extremly high praise to live up to, while Lynch could very well end up as the best player of the class and a steal at 1.3.

The more I hear about Lynch, the happier I am to be drafting from the 3-spot in the rookie draft.

Other than the fact that he can catch, I don't think Lynch's game is at all like Faulk's. The closest analogy for his running style is probably Curtis Martin, but even that's quite a bit off.

I don't think many are predicting A.D. to have a better season, anyways.A.D. is the higher selection in dynasty, not re-draft.
A.D. is the higher selection in dynasty, but it is not unrealistic that Lynch has a better pro career.
 Also true.@ ff, no one said that this was a dynasty or a re-draft. I've seen some predict A.D. to have a better season, even say he'll take over by either the begining of the season or by the end of the season.

Not sure even I expected this thread to morph into a "Lynch drafters gather here to pat yourself on the back over some tiny news from minicamp" thread so quickly.

It's a bit early to anoint Lynch the next Faulk, but hopefully this will squelch all that ridiculous RBBC talk. Lynch is easily the best back on Buffalo's roster. Barring injury, he should be good for 250-320 carries next season.

I'm not really patting myself on the back for some tiny news, I'm just saying that the more I hear, the more I like his chances of being a 300-touch RB this season.

I don't know of anyone in this thread that has drafted him yet... I'm happy because the more hype he gets, the greater chance AP or CJ fall to me at 3, since a number of my leaguemates live in the Buffalo area.

Interesting, looks like Lynch starts out the year with a tough schedule. When I look at the average though, it doesn't look terrible: 16 gamesSum of defense rank = 216Average rank = ~14Obviously the league average defensive rank is 16.5, so 14 doesn't seem all that terrible.....worse than average, but not horrific, especially considering the Bills have to play Miami & NE twice each. It wouldn't shock me to see Miami's defense slip this year....so perhaps it won't be that bad for Lynch. As a previous poster mentioned, the last few weeks (@Cleveland, NYG, @ Philly) look pretty good.
