M Lynch... major Fantasy BUST (1 Viewer)

Fantasy football & stock trading is all about makings decisions based on your expectations.

It can be fun when you're right or wrong if you let it.

You don't always have to be right to win either.

I think calling people out with nothing more than "nyah, nyah, you got this one wrong" is pretty pathetic. But it can be interesting to look at the reasons for a bad call; what caused the analysis to go wrong?

In this case, I think it's a combination of three things:

Over-valuing the results of an extremely limited number of pre-season carries.
Failing to differentiate between per-season totals and per-game totals when assessing whether Lynch was a feature back. He didn't have a huge number of carries on the season, but he was clearly the workhorse back if you looked at the game-by-game results.
Failing to watch the games. Everyone watching Lynch's Cal career saw him as a viable pro running back, in ways that went well beyond his great statistics. Those are the things that reasonable (but incorrect in this case) people did which caused them to miss on Lynch. Try to avoid doing that in the future.

Then there were also the "Boller, Arrington=Lynch" guys, who got what they deserved.
Don't forget ignoring his week 1 performance vs Denver. I don't know how anyone who saw him score that huge TD vs the Broncos could continue to call him a "major Fantasy BUST".

I think if you are going to come out and make a stand like this you should expect to hear about it when you are completely wrong. KellysHeroes should man up and admit he royally screwed up.
Hey man... nice to see that you found and joined FBG this season... but its a little extreme to PM people and call them out about posts that were written in early Sept; Everyone makes bad calls. And yes; Lynch looks very good / very solid... similar too Westbrook. But as you can see; this type of behavior is usually froud apon in the Pool.I think we can move on now.
I may be mistaken, but isn't fantasy football all about the trash talking? ;) Interesting sig you got there....Yeah, we can move on now. Like you said, everybody makes bad calls. I think everybody make lots of bad calls this year. So many surprises this year!!!!

The Shark Pool is a dangerous place. If you start a thread like this and turn out to be COMPLETELY WRONG, you gotta expect to get ripped.

So sorry to offend your delicate feline sensibilities "Edward".

It is okay. I know you'll grow up one day.
It is not good to point out bad predictions, but it is ok to make personal attacks? Very classy! :potkettle:
Just pointing out the obvious *shrug*

Exceptionally lame. Pointing out where people got predictions wrong is just pissing in the pool.
:goodposting: can't point out very bad predictions , only correct ones I suppose. If you are going to strap 'em on and make a bold prediction you have to take a little if you miss badly
pointing out and discussing is a whole lot different than ripping someone. You suppose incorrectly, sir.
Actully, I love the fact we're accountable in the Shark Pool for our opinions. Sure I've been wrong, Onterrio Smith mr. pothead himself comes to mind, and I still hear my share of it. But on the other hand, when people are held accountable, you know who is more often right or more often wrong, and then you know how to view their opinions - good or garbage. I've found a number of posters who have excellent fantasy acumen because they had the cajones to make a prediction and stand behind it, and heck even admit when they were wrong. On the other hand, the people who want their wrong predicitons buried, just sholdn't post in here, because the reason they want them buried is because they are wrong more often than not.

That is so not true. I've been on this board since old yeller, and bad (and good) predictions are usually called out. BusterTBronco (aka Donkey IIRC) just hasn't learned the gentlemanly way. BTW, BTB - How is Kevan Barlow? Still have him on your FF squad? He sure was the STUD you thought he was going to be, wasn't he?See, we all get razzed for our bad predictions. Most of us just do it in a nicer way :bye:

You must have me confused with someone else. I've never owned Barlow in my life and certainly would not have touted him as a fantasy stud.

Completely agree. It's cool that KellysHeroes had the cajones to go out on a limb with Lynch predictions. He was dead wrong, but at least he took a stand. Of course, if he continues to make bad calls (see: LHUCKS), then he'll develop a reputation of "do the opposite". But hey, that's why we're all here, right? Now, with all that in mind.....when I check out a topic that has player predictions, I don't care about the stats being projected....anybody can make up #'s.....what I care about is the logic behind those predictions. Which is why the Lynch projections here were so confusing. Using pre-season stats to project regular season results is basically worthless. Claiming that impotent Anthony Thomas will poach carries.....just didn't make sense.

On the flip side, concerns that the o-line was poor, Losman sucks and the Bills generally lack offensive talent...well, that makes more sense.

End of the day though, Lynch is a top-10 RB in most scoring systems right now.
