He's been fully cleared and reports says he's been looking good in Chargers training camp. He's being undrafted in a lot of leagues. Could end up being a sleeper WR3 for fantasy purposes. Thoughts?
If they employ the 2nd half 2013 offensive approach, they probably won't pass enough to support Floyd as a WR3. At least not as an every week play, unless you don't mind boom/bust production.
I think Floyd is quite underrated as a NFL WR. But as a fantasy WR, the issue is targets. Barring injury, the RBs and TEs will probably combine for 300 targets and Allen should get 120+. That leaves 100-150 targets for all remaining WRs. Probably not enough there for Floyd to be useful.
They are deep at RB (including Woodhead) and have 2 solid receiving TEs. You put that together with Allen and they'd do best to use the WR2 spot as a decoy, with only a few targets a game. Floyd is going to have to show something special to get significant targets.
i just scooped him up for $12 on a $200 budget in a PPR dynasty league. He was dropped last week for somebody, so I felt he's worth it as a WR6 in a start 3-4 league. Needed a little depth there so this will work well while my younger prospects develop. Word is that he has played very well in camp and he will see single coverage all day
I like him as a player, but has a 33 year old WR ever broken into fantasy relevance? Brandon Lloyd was 29, not that Floyd needs to break out that much to be useful...but at that age he is what he is IMO.
