Manning Press Conference-Noon today (1 Viewer)

Gut-wrenching stuff.Wow.
Very true. Irsay: "We just don't have the surrounding team for him right now"...said he wants Peyton to go on and join a team he can win with right now. Irsay also said they are in a full "rebuild" mode and I thought that was interesting. He basically said the team as a whole is a total waste and he is doing a complete overhaul for the most part. Manning could not have been more respectful to Indianapolis and the people.

This sucks. Plain and simple. It's gonna be extremely weird not seeing him with the horseshoe. Awesome press conference too, very professional, and good to see he's not pulling a Favre and burning bridges. Very classy by Peyton and Irsay

Yeah, they couldn't have handled this situation any better.

I'd be surprised if he's not the Colts' OC / HC one day. Glad they've done this joint news conference and parted as amicably as the situation would allow.

per Chris Myers (@The_ChrisMyers):

In the midst of all peyton manning had going on..he mailed a hand written note of sympathy to my home last week when my son lost his life..

Going to be hard to see Peyton in another jersey. Who's the better Colt (even though it was Baltimore at the time) Johnny Unitas or Peyton Manning?

It was inevitable based on dollars alone. It is nice to see Irsay have more respect for his quarterback than was shown for Favre. Favre was able to tutor and show Rodgers a thing or two. Too bad Manning did not want to do the same for Luck. At least Irsay and Manning went out with mutual respect and glad to see Irsay did not kick Manning off the team as was done to Favre.

Manning will not play in another Super Bowl though.

The difference was in this situation it was the player who behaved like an adult. And Favre kicked himself off the team. And of course we all know Favre did not "tutor" Rodgers. He famously said that wasn't his job, remember?

Manning famously said he would not tutor Luck. Favre acted like an adult, too bad Thompson did not. Just shows that Irsay has more respect for his QB.

Or perhaps Manning thought Luck's best shot at success is being thrown into the fire Day 1.

You know, like Peyton himself was....

He has said that, for sure.I haven't heard/seen him say he wouldn't have mentored/helped Luck as Favre did with Rodgers..

Classy presser. Manning has always been about class so it shouldn't surprise. But lets not ruin this classy thread with stuff about Favre.

Are we going to relive this as if Favre was innocent in all of that? Both sides in this acted well. Both sides in GB acted poorly. And I will say this...had Favre been owed $28 million and coming off a major injury...he would have gotten a release rather than the pissing match that went on.The overall situations are far different.

When did Favre act like an adult?

Can you Green Bay/Viking/Detroit/Chicago fans go start another thread where you can argue amongst yourselves about Favre?
