Might as well, there is a new one every day, lol. Maybe we could start the next one Manning vs Fran Tarkenton.

I'd take Manning over any other quarterback ever. But I'd rather have one mini-Ditka than 6 Mannings.

I look forward to the Ryan Leaf poll.
The Colts would have actually been better off taking Leaf over Manning. Had they done so they could have already been deep into the rebuilding process. Now they're stuck with several more years of postseason disappointment and Manning walking off the field in January with his head hanging.

What team do you root for......because I root for the Cowboys and Lions. The Lions haven't even made the playoffs in years and have been in the rebuilding process for the history of their franchise. So to say that they'er "Stuck" with Peyton Manning is a silly statement. The Lions don't even know what it's like to walk on or off the field in January, as they're meaningful games are done before Thanksgiving.Peyton Manning is a very, very good QB and most teams would take him in a second. The problem with him is with the media and people like us who constantly compare him to the all times greats. Have you ever heard him say he's better than John Elway or Steve Young or Terry Bradshaw?? I haven't, so I'm not quite sure why you're down on him.

I don't care, he's still a good QB. Have you watched him play...........if so common sense tells you he's a good player. You mentioned they'd be better off taking a guy like Leaf who's a bust so they can be rebuilding. To a fan like myself who's lived in Detroit, that ridiculous talk. The bottom line is Peyton Manning will make the Colts a playoff contender every single year, great fun for that city. Will they win the whole thing, I have no clue. But I do know, because I'm on the other side of it with a losing team that you do not wish to have someone like Ryan Leaf as your pick instead of Peyton Manning!

Several Colts fans on this board have already stated the playoff runs that end in complete disappointment aren't so fun anymore. This was the absolute best chance he'll ever likely have at winning a Super Bowl. Sure he puts up great numbers during the regular season, but how many more playoff gags does it take to realize the guy just doesn't have "it" come playoff time?

I thought this year was a great shot. But, last year I also thought he had a great shot to light up the Pats, and he didn't. W/ Hank Poteat, that the Pats pulled off the street in week 16, and Troy Brown manning the corners, he still oculdn't light them up. Don't get me wrong, I think Manning is a great QB. The knock is that he consistently doesn't play up to his potential in the playoffs. Not all playoff game. He's had some good games, in the wild card round. But, when men measure their football meddle, he comes up woefully short time and again.

Warsteinner is right with my frustration of Peyton come playoff time. However, there is only 1 "winning" QB each year. I guess I like what Peyton does, but I think the Colts needs to be more balanced when it comes to their dependency on the QB.Peyton was off in the first half of the Steelers game, but he came around. He gave us a chance to win. These silly polls are rediculous, however, I will damn sure remember to hold my enthusiasm for years to come until the Colts and Peyton have a respectable shwing in the playoffs.I remember what it was like pre-Peyton, we were the lovable losers. I hated that, so I'll take Peyton. I'd rather have 16 weeks of great memories and 1 disappointing week of memories, than net even having the chance to make the playoffs!

I am sorry that you are starting to find out that your franchise QB will never lead you to a Super Bowl win.If polls like this make you feel better, I hope it helps.

:lmao: how the mighty have fallen.

Manning has gone from the GOAT to still being a good QB.

he'll be nice for us fantasy :nerd:s but if I were a Colts fan I would want to trade him and get value for him while I could and build a team around someone else.

In my leagues I send out numerous trades that are totally bogus in hopes that an owner accidently hits accept instead of reject. I got lucky once doing this, maybe Indy can do the same.

When's the last time a QB played by himself against all players of an opposing team?

I don't think Tee Martin did it all alone, but he did with many of the same players that Manning couldn't do it with. Hard to ignore the fact losing on the big stage follows the guy whereever he goes, no?

Anyone who knows anything about UT football knows that Al Wilson and Travis Henry / Jamal Lewis took UT to that National Title. Tee just operated within the system. I'll agree that until Manning wins a championship, he'll be tagged a choker, but like I said it takes a team to win the title. People are quick to give Brady all the kudos for the Patriots' Super Bowl wins, but what about all those other guys. They had a stellar D and Special teams, etc. It's ridiculous to think that Manning is the sole reason for no championships. That's all I'm saying.

Too bad Ty Law wasn't on his team, he completed a ton of passes to him in the playoffs a few years ago.

Hearing the Colts fans complain about Manning reminds me of the SF 49er fans who used to complain about Steve Young. Same criticisms, same ultra-high satandards. I am guessing those same 49er fans wish they had a QB the calibur of Young right now, and these picky Colts fans will long for the days of Manning once he's gone.

We're bummed right now. Give us some slack. (Not only the last loss - but the embarassment of Ron Artest on top of that).

I understand. I just think that comparisons between Manning and Brady aren't always fair because they play on different teams. To make a comparison between QBs, one has to factor in the total team.

Ya know., I'll bet those Broncos fans sure wish the team had bailed on elway when he was labeled as a big game choker...

The Broncos had room to upgrade for Elway, where else can Indy upgrade for Manning? He has a damn Pro Bowl team on the offensive side of the ball and a top 10 defense.

No way do we trade Manning he will always be a Colt.Colts fan here will take what we can get from no# 18 this is are guy win or lose.We might get mad and cuss him out a few hundred times, but this is are qb and we are dang glad he is.

Earlier this season, according to a lot of people I talked to.

You know, this is a great point. Manning has never proclaimed that he is the all-time best at anything. Why he draws so much crap from armchair QBs everywhere is beyond me.

Randy Moss is constantly telling everyone who will listen that he's the #1 WR in the game. Manning has never made such proclamations, and yet he draws an enormous amount of hate when his team fails.

In case nobody is noticing, Pittsburgh blew through 3 pretty good teams this postseason. They're clicking on all cylinders. The Colts ran into a buzzsaw, just like the Bengals and Broncos did. End of story.

pf - why stop at QBs? In fact, why stop at the NFL? Let's compare him to every ball player of every sport ever. We should follow that up with a poll of who plays better or worse basketball than Owens. That should be then followed up with a poll of what people who have ever walked the Earth are closer to being demi-gods than Bush. And I don't mean GW.

85 Bears, 2000 Ravens, ....... who else has had a defense like this? It's not required to win a SB.

So you'd contend that this year's Rams team is as good as the Super Bowl Rams?

When comparing Manning vs. Brady or Manning vs. Roethisberger or Manning vs. a loaf of bread, that assumes that all factors are equal. They are not. The Pats have long had a better defense than the Colts. Comparing all QBs to Brady is like comparing all basketball players to Jordan. The fact that Manning isn't as good as Brady doesn't mean that Manning isn't a top tier QB.

This has been my point. However, when the playoffs come around Manning goes from top tier to merely average.

Somebody forgot to tell the Chiefs and the Broncos over the last two seasons.

I remembered. Then when I took those number and combined them with the six losses it all equals out to an average performing QB.

Well, now we are sort of entering a different area of the discussion. Since Brady has been dominating Super Bowl victories lately, does that mean all the other QBs have been merely average? And since Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl, does that make Dilfer better than Manning?

Man, I wish there had been a Footballguys messageboard around for the first 13 years of John Elway's career, so we could have heard about what a talented loser/choker he was, and how much misery he brought to Denver and how the Broncos would have been better off trading him and starting over. That would have been cool. . .
