Manning's neck injury leads to loss of arm strength? (1 Viewer)

I was made of aware of this through @fantasydouche. Apparently ESPN's injury expert Stephanie Bell was on Fantasy Focus on thursday and she stated that his neck injury could very well have affected his arm strength late in the season. Manning's accuracy on deep balls were clealy affected and it could still be a problem this season. Until we hear he's back to 100 procent, I think we should downgrade Manning, as well as the offense as a whole.

Thoughts?

Even without full arm strength Manning is still a No. 1 QB IMHO. But he may be more human than machine this year as opposed to years past.

I think this is a contributor to possibly reducing his stats and those of his X receiver, but it also makes me wonder whether he is going to use his slot receiver and TE more often. If he is not healthy, it would not surprise me at all to see Collie, Clark and even Tamme out perform their preseason predictions. But for those expecting great numbers from Manning, just because those guys' numbers go up, it does not mean his will too.

So, we don't know whether it affected him last year, but after having surgery, something that might not have affected him last year will maybe continue to affect him this year. That's a lot of hedging and not much expertise.

Manning might help come FF playof time, but if you're drafting him to get you there, and don't have a reliable regular season starter..... You're screwed.

Who cares if the source is reliable? It's still pure conjecture:

ESPN's injury expert....stated that his neck injury could very well have affected his arm strength
No different than saying "He could get run over by a truck this year"
:goodposting: My thoughts exactly. Who the bleep is Stephanie Bell? Tell me something about her history that suggests her conjecture here has a better than average chance of being correct. Until that happens, her thoughts have no impact on my evaluation of Manning's fantasy prospects this season. Even if she does have a positive success rate with guesses like this, any relevance is still mitigated by the fact that this is still nothing more than a (possibly educated) guess.

First of all, it's Stephania Bell, and :LINK

and it could still be a problem this season

It seems he is still having issues with the injury as she stated he could.

I don't think it's funny. On the contrary, I think it's a loss for the NFL and us as fans. My point is, don't disregard these injury analysts entirely, some of them are very accurate and are a valuable resource for fantasy players.

Thanks for the clarification because when you ask, "Who is laughing now?", a reasonable person may infer that you think something is funny.

What is a procent anyway?

Did you guys ever hurt your neck? Everything else hurts as well. It's miserable.

His back...another thread. His arm strength....this thread. Let me beat ya to it-he probably has headaches. He probably doesn't feel like running much or wearing a helmet at all so he's likely not in tip-top shape or well-drilled.

he should probably just retire then, which will probably be the case.

I was under the impression its the same things his brother had, its effects have been compared to muscle exhaustion but over large portions of your body.

His brother had the same thing and was poised to be a successful receiver, they didnt catch the nerve problem in time and it ruined his career, he wasnt able to catch balls anymore because he wasnt able to produce grip in his hand, he couldnt even form a fist.

His brother had Spinal Tenosis, not sure if thats what Peyton has, but that is what ive always been told.

Small snippet of Cooper Mannings life: Doesnt cover his injury much, ive seen it in more detail in other places, sorry I couldnt shed any more light on this topic.
