There was significant talk in the summer after Linehan got the job that Bulger wasn't his type of quarterback. All looked good early with only 1 INT in the first 6 or so games. Then he and the offense started to stagnate a little.

Fast forward to the offseason: Do the Rams make a change at QB or does Bulger keep the job for 2007?

Guy's still having a solid year.

281/443 (63%) 3,172 yards, 16 TDs, 7 INT. His 90.2 QB rating is good for 8th among all QB's in the NFL.

In a league where there is a lack of quality quarterbacks, you better have a damn good alternative if you're going to yank a guy playing like that. And that alternative is not Ryan Fitzpatrick or Gus Frerotte.

The talk was more situated around Linehan drafting one of the 3 QB's, not going after a free agent. The Rams had that opportunity and they traded down to allow Denver to take Cutler. I think most of what we heard from St.Loo was a smoke screen during the draft.I think year 2 will be much better under Linehan. He will need to design more plays for Holt to get the ball, his production has been un-Holt like the past 4 or 5 games until this week of course.

Yeah, the before:after comparison is brutal if you're a Bulger owner. He was the #3 or #4 FF QB until Pace went down and there's not much reason to think he'll be a lot worse next year.
