Mario Williams Facts (1 Viewer)

Video of Mario going to dinner in Buffalo. He looks like he's going to a funeral. Did someone die while he was there? No wonder he got out of town. http://www.wgrz.com/video/1505386302001/1/RAW-Video-Mario-Williams-with-Bills-Management-in-Buffalo
At least it was semi-warm today for his visit.
He's smarter than that. Go to Chicago, Mario. Way more exposure and the press would be all over Peppers and Mario in Chicago and around the league. He would get shut away in Buffalo and never be heard from again. I'm sure he knows this. He's not going there. It's a place sinners go to die.

You seem to have some serious hate for Buffalo man.

Naw - Flap just loves Chicago. Mario + Peppers = Superbowl (especially given the other moves the Bears have made already). Flap knows it, Bears fans know it - heck even Packer fans know it (half the posts in the Marshall and Bears Offseason threads are Packer fans vocally terrified that the Bears land Mario too).

Mario is still in Buffalo!
NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports free agent DE/OLB Mario Williams will leave Buffalo without signing, and is expected to make at least one more visit.
HTH.

per Tim Graham of the Buffalo News:

For what it's worth, Mario Williams spotted leaving Buffalo Medical Group office this morning. That would seem to be a physical, folks.

That seems like a positive if you're a Bills fan. Shows that he at least takes the Bills seriously and isn't just using them for leverage. I hope.

For what it is worth, I am hearing that the Jaguars consider Williams to Buffalo close to a done deal and expect the Bills to make an announcement soon.

Keep hating, bears aren't even canidates

Looks like OBD isn't going to screw this one up. I'm truly shocked the Bills just might pull this one off. Now if Kyle Williams can return to the field healthy, this might have the makings of a pretty good DL. Which is a good thing considering the state of the secondary.

per Fantasysharks:

Williams presser coming-- It is being reported that the Bills are in the process of setting up a press conference to announce that they have signed DE Mario Williams. All that's left to find out is how much money they threw at him.

It will probably be a ton.

No, its God that hates Buffalo. Isn't that common knowledge?

:goodposting: Two things:1) In almost every player's career he gets to chose between winning and money. Apparently, Mario likes $>W2) As soon as the Bears realized they could be off the hook for $6 million of Marshall's deal (i.e. had more $ to spend) - they should have gotten on the phone and asked Williams' agent and ask if he'd be willing to sit down with Phil, Lovie and Mr. Peppers for a Superbowl talk.

I know the wheels fell off in Buffalo but Williams is a difference maker. I think that D line is gonna be a beast. Heard K.Williams talking on a local station about how healthy he's been feeling and how excited for the season. That line is gonna be tough and make the rest of the defense better. I dont know why anyone would think Chicago would have a better chance at winning than Buffalo.

Makes me sad as a Texan fan. Good luck Mario!

But yeah, Buffalo? That'd be like signing with the Texans a couple of years ago. A team always on the cusp of competing but always falling short. Must have thrown some huge money at him if he's not even bothering to visit anywhere else.

Ummm...seriously? Let's start with the Bears being 8-8 while Buffalo was 6-10. After Cutler went down, the Bears went 1-5 (i.e. they were 7-3 with Cutler.) The Bears just added Brandon Marshall and Eric Weems (two Pro Bowlers). I realize you are a Bills homer, but honestly, did you type that with a straight face?

Well lets see, Green Bay is in your division along with Detroit so Id say they play against harder competition. The bills were 5-2, soon after they lost the leading rusher in the NFL at the time in F.Jackson, their pro-bowl DT in Williams. Throughout the end of the year player after player went down on the O-line. They lost Merriman(? maybe not a huge deal), and they lost half of their WRs for one point at another. When this team is back healthy, and with Williams I think people are going to be surprised.

If an Andrew Brandt says otherwise I'll yield to his ability to read lawyer-ese, but I double checked the CBA after someone asked about this in the Brandon Marshall thread. From what I see there, I expect Marshall's normal cap charge would apply this year, and then if the $6m is not paid it would be added back into the Bear's cap next year. There is some language where a player's cap number is re-evaluated at the time of a trade, but IIRC that's more to do with things like if a non likely to be earned bonus has already been earned as of the day of the trade, it would be included in the new team's cap immediately rather than waiting until the next year.

Hey Bears fans, enjoy your new big acquisition in 2013 when he comes back from suspension. We'll enjoy Mario's doninance this year.

I'm a Bears fan... And FWIW I don't see that big of a difference between the two teams' overall talent levels. It's not like the Bills are devoid of talent or like the Bears are bursting with young up and coming players.

Both teams have some nice players, both have some significant 'warts'. I wish Mario were coming to Chicago, but the price tag was probably too high given the number of other team needs that the Bears have.

IF Buffalo gets Williams, then I hope they do well, and I would rather see him go there rather than to another NFC team.

Good luck Bills fans!

I hope it works out and that you beat the pats twice a year for as long as bell-i-cheat is at the reins!

Let me preface this with, I'm not saying that Mario definitely won't sign with the Bills.

But I notice that we've seen things posted in the Shark Pool that suggest how imminent his signing is. Yet I subscribe to most of the national NFL reporters on twitter, and I'm not finding a single tweet by one of them saying they believe his signing is imminent.

Clayton reported he was still at the facility, but wouldn't go further than that. Given how these guys like to break news, you'd think if there were any whiffs he was actually close to signing that they'd be saying more on it.

That kind of classy display has no business here fella!

FWIW, I'd much rather Williams end up in the NFC than with Jax, Tenn, etc., if he doesn't sign with Buffalo. It would be a huge gut punch at this point if he were to leave Buffalo and sign somewhere else. Par for the course for Bills fans of course.

But if he ended up in Chicago. It certainly would be fun to flip on a game and see Williams and Peppers getting after people.

Well, he's been in Buffalo for close to 24 hours now. That's both good and bad. A visit that long is certainly more than just trying to use a team for leverage. But it also means that he's been there an awfully long time to not be signed still. On the other hand, his fiancé is currently getting a tour of the city by the Bills and some of the players' wives and girlfriends. Seems pretty positive.Lastly, John Clayton is wrong so often on the Bills it's ridiculous. He had a long running feud with Bills fans and has lashed out at them in the past. I think it clowds his judgement when reporting on the Bills. He is the one that reported that Williams was definitely leaving Buffalo to visit other teams. So he has something invested in downplaying any potential of Williams to sign with the Bills now as well.FWIW, Mario and his fiancé are both back at One Bills Drive right now. It would be one of the all time biggest free agent gut punches at this point if he doesn't sign with Buffalo.
