That surprises me. If he comes back healthy and ready to play I'm all over it, but so far I have no reason to think that will be the case.In all of my leagues the time to grab him was last week. Went right before me in waivers and went for about 15% in FABB. We have short benches too.
Checked his twitter feed. He says he's doing really well. Was doing contact drills and stuff like 4 weeks ago. Says he's read to go probably at Dallas. He's on my radar in the one league I am thin at WR, but I don't have the room right now. I'm thinking now is the time, though. Waiting until it's confirmed that he's off PUP seems like a good way to lose FAAB or waiver priority. Free is the way to go!
Probably should have mentioned in the one league everyone lives in Saint Louis so there may be some emphasis on STL news and the Rams. The FABB may have been early and high for that reason.I am desperate in the other league where I missed him for WR with underperforming Harvin, L Moore and David Nelson to pair with V Jax.I thought it was a good risk to take early. We all saw his upside in limited time with the Rams in a PPR. Clearly he operates well with Bradford and since Bradford has not really developed any chemistry with another WR as of yet, I think you can educatedly guess that when Clayton gets in there that he will get the ball alot.As a con, the O is not running nearly as many of the dink and dunk routes it did under Schurmur as it is under McDaniels. Because of this, the offensive line is having to pass protect longer and they are doing a horrible job of it, especially with no SJax to take the heat off the passing game. The change in offense could present a problem but he came in and performed with almost no practice time last year (IIRC Clayton was a late training camp cut by BALT)I just think that Clayton has way more upside in PPR than that the guys available in my league (Breaston, D. Williams Ten, and Little). The Rams D is horrible and they will be passing a ton.'Wadsworth said:That surprises me. That isn't necessarily true. I wrote a little bit about it on another thread in here (medical student here so take it for what you will). The recovery is typically harder BUT you would assume the return to 100% to happen possibly faster. No link but I read something that Clayton would be ready to practice first day eligible– Oct. 19.Also read he was ready to play Wk. 1 but the rams wanted to buy some time to evaluate their other WR's. No Amendola's hurt, the rookies Salas and pettis have done crap and Sims-Walker and Gibson aren't cutting it. Only D. Alexander seems to be worth a damn.I think the question isn't will Clayton get his looks and opportunities, more like what are the lingering effects of this particular surgery. Thought i had read it as an easier recovery and quicker to 100% than a normal ACL surgery.
Definitely Clayton if he comes back healthy. He will immediately become a target for Bradford. Mason on the other hand is now an after-thought on any roster he's on - Texans or otherwise.Who you guys think is the better longshot Clayton or D.Mason in ppr?

He'll be rusty for the first 3-5 weeks, but even so the Rams play from behind and he should see a lot of targets.Didn't Clayton last play, last year? No preseason? No camp?
I am not sure that there should be a Welker to Clayton comparission in injury, performance, situation etc but if we want to... WElker hurt his knee in January 2009 then came back to post 86/868/7. This would be 9 months after suffering his initial injury. Clearly he was not the same player as he was pre-injury.From week 10 on he posted 42/493/4 over 6 games. This string of games would be approximately 11 months after the injury occoured. That is an average of 7/82/.8 or about 19 points per game in a PPR.Clayton has had a full one year to recover and rehab (think it will acutally be 2 or 3 weeks more). He may have to shake some rust off but I still believe there is a realistic apportunity for WR2 numbers from week 8 on.I am not saying that Little or Williams or some type of younger, inexperienced player may not end up posting better numbers than CLayton but we have already seen what Bradford to Clayton has produced. You can't really say that is the case with Little or Williams or any other rookie that just got promoted to first team. You all remember how Welker wasn't 100% after his knee injury, right? From everything I have read this is much worse...there were rumors he might not be able to walk again without a limp. I can't see him being a force if he is only 75% of the way back. Rams were trying lots of guys, signed MSW, drafted 2 more WRs, doesn't seem IMHO that they were counting on Clayton this year. I think he is 29 but I could be wrong. Darrell Jackson was in his late 20s when his knees fell apart. I like him as perhaps a dynasty pick up. He has been on the waiver wire in several of those leagues but in redraft I think it's a stretch in must start 2 and 3 leagues. I would focus on one of the rookies who is promoted to first team, seems like maybe a better option. What's to say he doesn't hurt it again, doubtful he comes back off the PUP at 100%. But I'm open to reading more about him.
I am a big fan of Clayton but at this point you have to ask why they have waited this long. If he was truly healthy and ready to go I can't imagine the Rams would have waited until the 11th hour.4pm ET deadline is today...Rotoworld:All signs point toward the Rams activating Mark Clayton (Achilles, knee) off the PUP list Wednesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.The Rams have until 4pm ET today to make a decision on Clayton. But with Greg Salas (leg) done for the year, Danario Alexander taking it slow with a hamstring injury and Brandon Gibson nursing a quad ailment, they might not have a choice. Clayton has experience at both the slot and flanker positions, but has never played in Josh McDaniels' offense. The Rams plan on taking one more look at Clayton in practice today.![]()
To say they waited til the 11th hour isn't right. There's 2 injuries - the knee and the achilles. The patella tendon knee injury from last year is why he was on PUP, and that was healthy enough that he began practicing. Then when he started practicing he hurt his achilles and was in a walking boot. So it became a question of the achilles strain healing in time.I am a big fan of Clayton but at this point you have to ask why they have waited this long. Mark Clayton - WR - RamsRams activated WR Mark Clayton (Achilles, knee) from the PUP list.According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas, Clayton will be active against the Browns. Sam Bradford's favorite target before tearing his right patellar tendon in Week 5 last season, Clayton could be in for a big role from the get-go with Danario Alexander (hamstring) ailing and Greg Salas done for the season. Even though Austin Pettis is expected to man the slot in Salas' absence, Clayton is worth an immediate flier in deeper leagues.Source: Jim Thomas on TwitterNov 9 - 3:52 PM
Hmm hmm hmm... 3x Lloyd owner... Salas injury thrusting the Clayton activation? So we got Lloyd, Gibson, Pettis, Clayton and D.Alex soon. May be too many around to waste a waiver spot on Clayton...Activated.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said Mark Clayton may not be active for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Even if Clayton is part of the 46-man roster, his role this week figures to be limited. "We're still talking about a guy who didn't go through training camp, hadn't been in a game in a long time, so we'll have to slowly ease him in," Spagnuolo said. Austin Pettis is a good bet to act as the primary slot man this week. Related: Austin PettisSource: St Louis Post-Dispatch
Any predictions? Tempted to play this guy today over the likes of Simpson and Jacoby Jones. The St. Louis Rams twitter feed posted this on Mark Clayton: "Yes, WR Mark Clayton is active. Expected to play a lot. Don't be surprised to see a lot of Clayton and Lloyd on outside, Pettis in slot."
3/31Any predictions?
45 MPH gusts for a team used to playing indoors, not liking a guy that hasn't played a lick in well over a year. I like picking him up off waivers and holding him for a week or two.Any predictions?
