The colts website has him as the RCB.

However, on monday night he was all over the place from the RCB slot.

Can he produce like a Barber/Tillman/Winfield?

It'll be hard to reach that kind of production, but I've been a Jackson believer for years. He supports the run very well, is a sure tackler and seems to have a nose for the ball.

I think it's possible. He seems like a perfect Tampa-2 CB. I will guess slightly below the above, but the upside to get there.

Also, they've spoken about Jackson as a safety ever since he was drafted. I'm wondering whether he's going to be a de facto flex player on occasion, enabling you to get some safety performance out of a "CB".

Don't forget about Hayden on the other side. Lacking CB experience, the guy was drafted on skill-set alone a few years ago. If I'm a QB, I would rather throw away from a 1st-round talent like Jackson and focus on an inexperienced guy like Hayden.

i've been waiting for jackson to break out for a while...he looked a bit slow in coverage imo the past few years, but that may have just been him getting used to the pro game...he was all over the field against the bears & looked great... polian loves those big 10 DBs... doss (now in MIN), sanders, then jackson...i do think jackson could be in store for a monster year...

He played FS as a junior at Michigan and while he wasn't a liability as a safety he was far more effective as a corner.

from wikipedia:
The statistics for Jackson's senior season at UM are underwhelming at first glance, until you look at the statistic for the percentage of passes opposing quarterbacks threw away from Jackson - coaches and quarterbacks were concerned at Jackson's interception and pass break-up ability, so they threw away from him almost 90% of the time.
So there's a history of that, despite his matching up against the opponent's top target.

This will be interesting to follow, although it's not likely to be as much of an issue since the Colts play very little man coverage.

Jackson's going to play just corner this year. He's been very impressive, especially in run support, in the pre-season.

2007 (as of two games)Hayden: 15 solos, 4 assists, 1 FF

Jackson: 13 solos, 5 assists, 1 FF

It should be an interesting stat battle between these two for the rest of the year. :goodposting:

Will either of them be worthy of a start?

I picked up Jackson this past week.

However, it is usually the LCB that does better, i.e. winfield and barber and tillman

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that hayden is the LCB
