Maroney and D. Williams what does '07 look like? (1 Viewer)

I have both these guys in a Dynasty/Salary cap league, I am wondering what you guys see for these two "promising" backs.

Do they finally become starters or do they continue their roles as back up / change of pace guys?

Foster just got a contract extension at the beginning of the year...right

Is Dillon ready to retire?

The Pats have an option on Dillon. Dude is still a load to bring down, even if he has lost a step. The Pats should do something similar with him to what the Rams did with Bruce this offseason. Let him go, but re-sign him from the open market at a cheaper price. I doubt Dillon gets strong interest elsewhere. Maroney gets more work next year, but its not quite time for him to be the true feature back.

Would the Panthers cut Foster? I doubt it. His signing bonus was only 4.5 mil, so it's not a huge hit if they cut him, but he's still a useful player. They have bigger questions to answer than RB, and they haven't shown any inclination to give DeAngelo even half the work when Foster is healthy (despite Foster's middling production and talent). Like Maroney, Williams should get more work than this year, but not a feature back load.

Of course, the big variable here is offseason movement, so this is pure speculation right now. The bottom line is that I wouldn't automatically assume these guys get enough work to be RB1's for fantasy next year. The vets provide stability and security, even if they are unexciting both on the field and on the stat sheet.

i think maroney's got a good shot to be the man next year. i know that's no revelation by any means, but until his back got dinged up, he'd been getting more red zone action lately and was looking solid.

if he's the RB1 in NE (i do think dillon will still get opportunities), and if you take him off special teams, i think he produces like a solid top 12 back next year. not sure i can say that about any of the rookies, and that includes drew.

I would go with Maroney, Dillion has aged this year and looks like he is wearing concrete shoes.

Carolina has big time o-line problems and for some reason Fox loves Foster, so it looks to be RBBC at best for DWilly next year.

Has Jones-Drew made everyone forget about these guys?
John Fox made me forget about D.Williams.
:lmao: I don't understand his man love at all. Us D.Williams owners just have to hope that Fox gets fired after this miserable season and the new coach has more than half a brain. Williams has been a stud when given the touches. Until Fox is gone though I wouldn't bet on Williams being the #1 guy there unless Foster gets hurt.
