Marvel Contest of Champions - Time Killer (2 Viewers)

So how are you guys minimizing the damage with that strategy? Just building up the parry and other blocking masteries.
It is hard to explain, but it ultimately comes down to simply not getting hit. Dr Strange, Wolverine and a few others offer some forgiveness as they can regenerate. Whether you use parry or evade, it is up to your individual play style. I got by fine with just evade for a long time before I added parry, and I think you can survive just fine this way on the AQ pathways. The mini-bosses are much easier if you are good with parry, but if you get good at evading I think you will do just fine as well.

I am almost 100% counter attacks. Almost never dash towards the AI unless they have just missed an attack and they are open. I have seen a lot of videos of people a lot more aggressive than me, but I always seem to get countered by doing that.
I'll occasionally dash when the opponents in full block mode, just to tap him once or twice and try to draw out a special, but mostly counter attacks - ideally wait for them to try a heavy or a special, and dash in and pummel them.

I just haven't been able to get consistent parries down. And I know it's limiting against the bosses in AQ. I can land one at the beginning of a fight almost without fail, but outside of that it's pretty random even when I try and do it, and since I do a lot of hit/dash back I almost never get to capitalize when they DO proc. It's the main reason that's making me considering maxing Stupefy as soon as I have the credits.

. I'm fairly aggressive generally, depending on situation. Main tactic is parry parry parry, but if I'm close and have an opening I'm charging in.

Wow. This thread is intense for a relative n00b in this game.

I have 3 4*s.

A bunch of 3*s and a whole lot of abandoned 2*s.

Anyone have a quick synopsis?

Consensus top 6 characters by class?

Any strategies I should know?

1. Pray for a duped 4* Dr. Strange

2. Profit
I have a duped 3*...why is he so good?
By class I would guess as follows:

Mystic: Dr Strange

Cosmic: Gamora/Thor

Tech: Starlord

Mutant: Wolverine

Science: Captain America

Skill: Daredevil/

Dr Strange is good because of his predictable regeneration capability. His buffs rotate from shield -> fury -> life steal. You know exactly when you will be able to steal life if you need it, do additional damage if you have full health, or try to lure a special attack. The life steal is really useful in the Alliance Quests, Story and Realm of Legends.

If you aren't in an alliance you should join us once we have an opening.

Who are your 4*s?

Top champs are subjective based on your style of play, but as others have said Dr Strange is the unanimous top champ overall. Other great ones are Scarlet Witch (duped), Starlord (duped), Thor (duped). Part of what is great with strange is he's amazing even unduped. Ms Marvel is pretty strong too, colossus and cap both have great defense and decent offense. If you're purely offensive then guys like iron fist, rocket, and electro would be high on the list as well.

I invested a lot into blocking proficiency type masteries, so my blocks/parries take very minimal damage if not 0s. Even against mini bosses and bosses I parry the hell out of them.

I only have Magneto Marvel Now, Abomination and Iron Patriot for 4*

Missing that stupid rainbow sparkly thing to get Magneto to level 3.

I'm a big fan of the magnetos. His L2 can be quite powerful, plus does heal block for a nice length of time. Abomination is pretty strong. Can't speak for iron patriot, I know he's not a highly desired champ.

What you need to rank him up is an alpha catalyst. I believe you can get one from the groot quests, or once you get in a decent alliance. I have an abundance of them right now.

Oof. I have a hard time imagining a worse group of 4*s.

I used to be awesome a parrying, but now I barely can outside of the open of a match.

They changed it at some point and I never got the hang of it again.

How do you parry? Is that just back-swiping?
Parry is one of the masteries you have to buy and point mastery points in. It's a timing based block that briefly stuns the opponent. Timing can be quite tricky. I have it, but like Hulk, have trouble outside the start of a fight.

So I've been practicing with dexterity, and I'm pretty good at blocking projectiles like Punishers shot, but a couple questions:

1) What do you do for individuals with multiple projectiles, like a War Machine? I evade the first bullet but the subsequent ones hit me. Is there a way to evade all the shots, like hitting back rapidly, or can you only miss the first shot.

2) Really having trouble with timing when to swipe back on an energy attack. So if I'm fighting iron man and he is going to attack me with a L1 special, do I swipe back as soon as he starts his attack animation, or when the beam is about to leave his hands?

1) There are some specials that are near impossible to evade entirely I think. Some people claim they can dodge all of Stranges L2 but I've never been able to. The strategy then is to try and draw a special that you can know can be evaded. Or once you max Willpower, you can let yourself get hit by War Machine's L1 and it heals you...

2) Iron Man(s)/Ultrons L1 is easy to evade once you get the timing down. It is more towards the end when the beam is about to leave his hands.

1- I just keep swiping back. If you have Willpower, some of the multiple shot attacks will help you in the long run. They are either small bleeds, or armor breaks which stack. Both of which will give you a healthy dose of health back. Can you block both of Punishers bullets? Same idea, you need multiple swipes. Some of them you can't avoid all of them.

2-I swipe just after he starts his animation. You see his arms pull back, when they start to move forward I dash back. If you wait until the beam is visible it is too late. Cyclops L1 has 3 hits within it, so you need to keep dashing back to avoid them.

I just swipe back like crazy, sometimes I evade the first "wave" sometimes I get hit by all of it, but I have managed to avoid it completely, but haven't figured out the correct time.

We like to fight the first Realm of Legends match against Winter Soldier for practice. Try to get up to 100 hits or so before being KO'd. His L1 is a projectile delayed by animation so that's good dexterity practice.

You might even get good enough to actually beat Winter Soldier, and then the rest of the Realm, like Mj did.

Abomination isn't bad, and Iron Patriot gets way too much grief because his signature ability is garbage. Not a huge fan of Magneto at all though

So I thought I was done grinding, but kind of semi-push it this 2nd Thor arena to see what the Jane Foster cut-off was. I finished 114 (top 100 get the 4 star in the intermediate bracket). As I already have a Rocket, I guess I almost have to go crazy and go for it for the dup.

Ughhhh, just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Anyone try the main story act 4 chap 3 yet?

Its painful. Kabam's forum is saturated with complaints. I don't think it is beatable without buying a metric ton of health and revive pots.

So, is the last Realm of Legens t for real?

How is it even possible to progress? 9999999 team rating recommended? That's not even remotely possible to achieve, is it?

Kabam would never do something so sinister that it forced you to spend units on things such as pots and revives. They are here to help us, and to make the game more enjoyable for everyone, not pander to the top 1%.

Mj beat it. Lots of people have at this point.
But how?
tap tap, dash. tap, tap, tap, dash. L2 special, dash, tap, tap, tap.
Got it. Thanks.

I am sure I just don't know how to use Magneto. He is one of my newest champs and I haven't looked at what his skills even do.

Abomination has high health, strong attack, procs fury on attack, and is immune to poison. Unduped he is exactly like Hulk but better. I think Hulk is a lot better duped though.

Iron Patriot plays exactly like SIM and Iron Man, but has stun an armor break. Pretty awesome combo IMHO. His signature ability basically adds nothing.

So, now that I have 5* Ronan, I need to figure out my ideal AQ team. Him and Ms. Marvel are locks. The only guys they both have synergy with are hulk and iron man.

I have hulk 4*3/30 nonduped and iron man 4*3/30 duped to 60.

Synergies would be the same either way.

Iron man obviously is duped making him nice. Plus against colossus, but minus against venom. Hulk neutral against both, but poison immune which works well with my LC/DE/Coagulate/Willpower set up.

Also have The Vision duped, in case of heal block if we move up maps. But no synergy with the others.

Thoughts? It'll probably be a week before I can do it.

Iron man is awesome for normal path enemies - if you make a mistake or two, just let him get down in health until arc overload kicks in, and voila - you're back to near-full health.

Wish I could dupe my 4* IM. Without the arc overload he's nearly useless for my AQ purposes.

Should have the Doc to 4/40 when we hit the next SA. Hoping it gives him a little more oomph. He's still good right now at 3/30, but he's a little lacking in oomph compared to the 4/40s on my roster. It'd be great if I could dupe him soon, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

Thoughts? It'll probably be a week before I can do it.
Honestly, I'd probably go Hulk with your mastery setup. Poison immunity ramps up its panache significantly to me.

My hulk was great when I used to bring him, but he's also duped at 4/40 so it's a little different. I think in your case iron man is probably the better choice, especially triple duped. That being said, why don't you switch it up the first two days and see which you prefer while prestige is still "low".

FYI, when 5*s were released they said at rank 2, level 35 that they'd be slightly stronger than a 4*/5/50. Not true. I maxed my Ronan and he's got significantly less PI than my 4*/4/40 Ms. Marvel. :sadbanana:

I doubt they meant PI-wise. What are their stats like in comparison? For example a 4* at 1700 PI is gonna have better health and attack than a 3* at 2000

Ms. Marvel: ATK = 1,583; HLTH = 11,713

Ronan: ATK = 1,504; HLTH = 13,035

So, he has more health, but less attack than a 4/40. No way he'd be "slightly more powerful" than any 5/50.

Yeah I just looked. I'd have to find exactly how they worded it before to try and understand what they were trying to say, or how they were trying to spin it.

5-Star Champions are here!Their emergence within the Contest has been long speculated upon, and the day is now here. A few things you need to know about 5-Star Champions:

• They are obtained via 5-Star shards.

• 10,000 5-Star shards will be required in order to snag yourself a 5-Star Crystal.

• Upon release, 5-Star champions will not be immediately usable in arenas. We don’t want the first player obtaining a 5-Star champion to walk all over the competition. There will be a two week window while the team works on making some stamina-related changes in the game.

• That’s okay, because 5-Star champions will be difficult to obtain, and it may take players time to do so! Our intention with 5-Star champions is for them to be the best of the best, and a struggle to earn. As a result, players with 5-Star champions will truly be able to display them as a badge of pride.

• There are several ways that players can earn the shards needed for these prestigious champions: Event Quests, Alliance Events, Alliance Quests, Act 4, and duping 4-Star heroes.

• 5-Star champions will be much more powerful, but much harder to rank-up.

• They come with a brand-new mini-game feature that we’ll be sharing further details on over the next few weeks.

While we want to emphasize the power 5-Star champions will have, it is important to highlight that they will not instantaneously have complete supreme power over 4-Star heroes. As an example: A 4-Star, Rank 5, Level 50 is slightly weaker than a 5-Star, Rank 2, Level 35 (Which is the max level for a rank 2 5-Star).

The following characters will be released as the first wave of 5-Star champions, with more to come in the future:

Cosmic - Captain Marvel

Cosmic - Ronan

Mutant - Cyclops

Mutant - Storm

Mystic - Juggernaut

Mystic - Magik

Science - Spider-Man

Science - Rhino

Skill - Black Panther

Skill - Winter Soldier

Tech - Iron Man

Tech - Star-Lord

Have any questions or comments? Let us know.
This was the announcement. I'm pretty disappointed that my 4/40 is stronger than my 5*.

The mini-game on the level3 special is true though. Its just stopping a bar in the right zone. I haven't hit the sweet spot yet, but most of the time it adds 12% to my special.

So going to be bowing out soon. I announced in the chat about a month ago I was thinking of quitting my job. Instead I have found a new one that I start three weeks from today.

Won't be much time for "poop breaks" and I want to focus on doing well in my new position. This game has been a nice distraction for the last 9 months, but they keep making it more and more ridiculous. Someone want to explain the new "gifting" event starting today?

Is there a way to sell an account?

Money grab, pure and simple.

Everyone needs to buy at least the $30 unit package to get the gifting badge (if they don't already have it). Then everyone needs to start gifting around items. Each time you gift something it costs units (not sure how many since I don't have one). Odds are the amount of units it takes to gift the higher point items would require everyone to buy more units to keep passing the item around.

The rewards look nice, just not sure they are worth it. Would like to see how much money Kabam gets by the top alliances trying to get that 4* Kang though.
