Marvel Contest of Champions - Time Killer (1 Viewer)

If tier 4 cats are so hard to get, should we consider doing the alliance quests again for the alliance quest crystals? After this rank up event, I would think that we would be scoring more points and hitting milestones more easily than before (assuming they didn't up the milestones).
I think that was the general idea. The rewards to start are going to be crap though, we need to rank up within the alliance quests to get back to the good rewards.

but the alliance quest crystals have some small chance at good stuff, right? And the rewards aren't going to get better until we rise in the alliance rankings. Might as well give it a shot.

I'm okay with that. Once we get a few of our 4* ranked up those quests should get easier. At the time I thought that the alliance quests were the best use of our time/resources since there was a chance to get T4s, but the participation was brutal. They only took a few minutes per person to fully participate. We won't know how much effort it will take to get back to the alliance quest crystals being rewards, but I suppose we should try

IIRC, the difficulty of the quests scale to the strength of your alliance/heroes. So, the quests themselves may not be 'easier' to complete, but if our alliance/heroes are stronger, we should be scoring more points. So if the milestones don't/haven't changed, we should be able to hit milestones easier, even if our questing skills haven't improved. Does that make sense or am I off base?

Makes sense, but then I must ask how any alliance is passing the later quests. We got slaughtered on Q3 because we just were not strong enough.

Anyone know what's up with Crystal Shards? I'm afraid they won't even be giving out PHC anymore. I'm afraid you'll start winning shards and like 5 shards will make up a PHC.

It appears that you need 1000 of each shard to get the corresponding crystal. I don't think they are removing PHCs, but I don't know how we are expected to earn the shards.

If Kabam follows their standard practices, WE won't be expected to earn these at all. The top alliances will. ;)

So, does anyone recommend leaving some 3* and/or 2* unleveled to make 2-good-1-weak trios to sneak past the tougher arena sections until you hit the easier, endless matches?

I generally haven't needed it in the 2* arena, though this time the game kind of screwed me with a pair of opponents who did nothing but save up for double red specials on me in the toughest stretch.

Ok, I have 700+ units. Is Cruelty that worth it or do I save for a 4-star?
How are you spending your time in the game? Are you playing arenas enough to earn 3* heroes or better? Or playing story quests mostly, and maybe picking up some milestones in arenas but not really building up your stable of heroes from arena rewards other than milestone PHCs yet?

If you are mostly doing quests I might save for the 4*. Having one can let you go a lot further. If you're spending most of your time in arenas, then one 4* won't matter that much and I'd probably go for Cruelty.

As for how helpful it is, when you max it, every one of those hits where the damage is in yellow, you'll do an extra 50% damage. Just watch as you fight and see how much that would be.

But I would put points into Dexterity before Cruelty if you haven't.

I have Dexterity maxed and I've been playing both the stories and the 3-star arenas. I was able to qualify and get an Ant-Man but I've been falling a bit short lately going for Yellow Jacket. I have what I think is a pretty decent stable and I'm not sure what direction to take to be honest with you.

In order to get the most out of the game what should I do, stories or arenas?

That's what I said in the endless write up I did for you! I have about 6 2* that are at 1/1 that I use for those matches.

Depends. If you're just doing arenas to get milestones and collect a bunch of arena chips, you might have enough time to do both. This will get you a handful of PHCs and good rewards from the arena crystals, and still able to progress in the quests. If you have the time to keep grinding the arenas to build up your 3*s, that would help a lot to build your team quicker.

This game is running so slow on my android right now I can't even play. I've been deleting other apps/files but hasn't made a difference. Any tips for freeing some RAM on android?

What arenas are best to build up my 3-stars?

So, can some give me the Cliff's Notes on these "alliance quests" that are being mentioned? I stopped playing just before we started doing those a few months ago and have zero idea what is going to be involved there. TIA.

Alliance quests are long, multi-path quests. Up to 10 members of the alliance can join a battle map. The alliance can run up to 3 maps ( all the same ) per day. Each member can only join one.

The battles are effectively the same, but the map has "buffed nodes". Some are self buffed, meaning the champ you fight will have some enhancement. There also are nodes that buff another node. This is where strategy/coordination/teamwork comes in.

To handle these nodes, one team member will have to go done one path to take out a node that is buffing a champ on another path. A second team member will then go down that second path to the now debuffed champ.

You can scout the arena before joining, see the team that's assembled so far, including the champs involved, so you can coordinate your best champs to compliment the team makeup.

The alliance events are a week long, I believe. Each quest is for a set time ( 24 hrs? ). You select a team of 3 to enter, and these will be unavailable to you for quests, both story and cat runs, until the quest ends.

I think that covers the basics.

There's so

Sooo.....you're just randomly jumping into these things? Seems to need better coordination than that.
We've done some level of coordination. The spreadsheet tracking crystals also has a page tracking everyone's best champs, which can only help figuring out the best combinations.

Also, these alliance quests open a new chat. There was a lot of conversation around the team groupings.

I'm not sure. Guitarmonkey is the guy to talk to about that. Goes by Moljnir ingame.

So I ran the cosmic iso quest last night and instead of an iso I got some cosmic mastery tube looking thing. Wth?

I'm making a mental note to PM you the next time we have a spot

I mentioned in chat...

While crystals replenish from one event to the next... rank up points eventually are going to run out as we don't add new heroes at the same rate we finish ranking up the ones we have. I could rank up every remaining 2* and 3* I have to max and it won't score what I did in this single event. Not until tier 4 cats start to become available in a realistic way anyway.

So over time, will become important we not waste these outside of events.

So, I'm a little under halfway to having the credits saved to purchase a 4* crystal. I'm also at a point where I could buy another Stoney Core to turn on Dexterity.

What's the general consensus here? Is delaying the 4* crystal a smidge worth the investment on the Core to activated the Dex mastery? Keeping in mind, I am not doing the arenas in a crazy manner. My play style is more defensive, so the Dex thing seems like it'd mesh well. Just not sure it's worth it if I'm not playing a ton.

Thoughts?

Honestly I think those masteries are more important than adding 4* champs, but I am saving for one anyways. Dexterity is a good one to have for sure and helps in all aspects of the game.

If I had looked at your avatar before I would've sent an invite weeks ago :)

So for any other :nerd: who care, here's some early results on story map 3.4.1.

Ran it 31 times with MJ's help. On average received 2.5 quest crystals and 1945 Iso-8 not counting quest crystals which I still haven't opened yet. Over 60% of the Iso came from fights or finding it on paths, as opposed to chests.

1* chests and 2* chests are pretty much averaging the same amounts, around 175-180 Iso per chest.

So what I said earlier still holds... I wouldn't worry about chest levels when picking your path on this map. Instead prioritize choosing any path that has free Iso along it.

One other note, it's probably the best map for Iso. But if you are focusing on gold, you are better off running the grey catalyst tier 3 map to 100% exploration and selling the catalysts, if you're able to beat it without items. If you sell the Iso from map 3.4.1 you're looking it about 960 gold on average. The Tier 3 catalysts sell for over 1600 if I remember right, and I average gaining 2 of them per 100% completion. Less energy to run the cat maps as well.

Game name is Big E 78

Is it the FBG one?

I don't think the class specific masteries are worth it. Just from the standpoint that each one only helps 1/6 of your heroes. I think there are ones as good that affect all of your heroes, and you'll run out of mastery points at level 50 first by getting all of those.

Though not costing stoney cores is a benefit. I'm sitting on 7 unused points because I am hoping to earn some more stoney cores in game rather than pay credits for them for that 5 stoney core unlock of the +crit % cone.

Yea I don't like the class specific nodes, don't see the value.

If we were able recall specific mastery points though I think they might have been useful for alliance quests maybe?

I wish they would do more of these specific masteries. Like one for Heroes and one for Villians. Things like that, but maybe ones that don't dice the pool 6 ways.

3 day crystal event starts today, same poor rewards. Takes 750 PHC's for us to earn 60 back, and 1,000 PHC's for the Alpha. We probably need to let people open some crystals just for the release, but how much? I'm sitting on nearly 400 crystals right now.

How long ago was the 7 day event? Would hate to blow our wad here, but also don't want to wait another month before opening cystals.

I don't think the last event has any bearing on when this one will be, the timing of these has been all over the place. Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see the 7 day start right after the 7 day rank up ends.

I'd prefer to just hold all, but as always I'm fine with whatever the majority thinks.

I think this helps put the dupe event in perspective that we do the right thing going after the 1500 milestone PHC. We mostly get that from opening upwards of 150 2* crystals, which are worth 15k points in the crystal event. Not all are dupes and maybe it takes some dailies too so lets call it 25k to be ultra conservative. In this crystal event they want 750k for 2 PHCs, so call it 375k for one.

So 25k of crystals per group PHC instead of 375k. This makes it a no ####ing brainer that spending the 2* crystals in the dupe is better value than using them in the crystal event.

How long ago was the 7 day event? Would hate to blow our wad here, but also don't want to wait another month before opening cystals.
I figure it was about 24 days ago. I got up to about 12 dailies after it, then opened them for one of the smaller events along the way, and am back up to 12 again.

We're about due for a 7 day crystal event.

I say hold and hope there is a Iron Patriot milestone with it.
