Marvin Harrison : Dungy to Bears: Harrison would fit in Chicago

08/19/2009 01:37 PM

THE NEWS

Former Colts coach Tony Dungy advised the Chicago Bears to sign his former player Marvin Harrison on Wednesday, according to ESPN Chicago.

OUR VIEW

Harrison has had an offseason fraught with murky legal issues, and has played just 20 games the past two seasons. Still, it's hard to believe one of the most sure-handed receivers in NFL history can't catch anymore, and he could provide a huge veteran boost for a lot of teams, especially the Bears.

Is he worth picking up? Chicago doesn't have much talent at WR. He could become a reliable target for Cutler.

Dungy's work with Vick was easy. Harrison would be impressive, but let's see him tackle a couple of tough assignments: David Boston and Jerry Porter.

i see your boston and porter, and raise you a charles rogers

There's a boatload of wasted WR talent ready to light it up in the UFL or whatever that stupid league is.

Because he coached Harrison for years and likely built up a personal relationship with the guy. He had a personal relationship with Vick as well.

He doesn't have a personal relationship with Matt Jones, but that's clearly only because he's white.

I guess my impression has been that Harrison is just done... but as a Bears fan, I wouldn't mind if we at least brought him in for a look.

:bag: There is alot of youth in the Bear's WR corp, having a veteran like Harrison around who can teach and instill good work habits throughout practices would be very beneficial even if Marvin isn't a force on Sundays.

How pathetic is Marvin Harrison's situation that he has to have Tony Dungy go out and beg for any NFL team to give him a shot? Has he no pride? Just retire already and go out with some shred of dignity.
