Mass Effect Andromeda (Not actually called ME4)

Spring 2017 release now.

Never too early to start a thread (even though the search function will probably leave this lost in the board by then).

So from the details, this is a completely new story set in a different galaxy roughly around the same time as Mass Effect 3. A lot more emphasis will be placed on exploration but knowing Bioware, story and character depth will still be the main aspects.

Not to bring up the whole thing again but did you play it with the extended cut ending or the original ending? If it was EC, then yea the ending wasn't so bad.

I always worry about big changes this late and losing the lead writer seems, on the surface, to be a big change.  Then again maybe he/she was terrible and they will get the next Vince Gilligan on the job.

That seems to be the spin. He used to work for Bungie and now he's going back. Maybe Bioware let him leave. 

I would hope the main story is almost finalized by now.

We're obviously not in a position to know if the guy was very good or not, but Bioware absolutely depends on great writing.  anytime writing talent leaves what should be a great environment it is at least a little eyebrow raising.

Remains to be seen. If it's more freedom on how you explore and follow the story, I'd be ok with that. ME2-3 always felt like a race against the clock but we stopped for all these side missions in between. Didn't really flow well.

Dragon Age definitely gets the "open world" moniker.  It wasn't anywhere close to that.  (Still entertaining, though)

Listened to a Game Informer interview with one of the project leads, and the first thing he said was that he wanted to the side quests to be structured more like the Witcher 3 and less like the fetch quests DA:I. That's a flimsy enough pretext for me to justify pre ordering. Hoping they pull it off.

As an aside, this whole phenomenon of making digital copies of games more expensive than the disc versions is just weird. $47 for the disc through Amazon Prime and $59 for the digital copy.
