Matt Flynn - Has he gotten a fair shake? (1 Viewer)

As a starter 176 - 276, 63.8% 16 TDs / 8 INTs 4 wins, 4 loses.

Seems like he's been dealt some bad cards. First Wilson surprises, then Oakland thinks Pryor is the second coming of Wilson. Maybe he's one of those guys who does batter in the game than practice.

I hope he makes a lot of money carrying Rodgers clipboard.

Do those 16 TDs include the 6 TD Detroit game?

Because that's going to go down as an anomaly.

Take away that game and lifetime he is:

159/258

61.6% comp

< 90 rating

~7.4 ypa

1763 yards

10 TD

3.8% TD

8 INT

3.1% INT

2-3 record as a starter, with two 1-point wins vs mediocre ATL & Dal teams.

He apparently made 14.5 million for carrying Russell Wilsons clipboard....'

He's only getting about 60k per week in GB this year...

It would be funny as hell if he took them to the playoffs and got another fat contract somewhere.

Dallas hasn't stopped too many people this year. I think he's an ok backup whose limitations were brought to the forefront when he wasn't playing in a loaded offence vs. a terrible defence

Yes it does, but it doesn't include the Dallas game so I shorted his numbers.

He got beat in camp by a 3rd round pick. Granted, that 3rd round pick is one of the best QBs in the league now, but coaches don't often bench veteran players for rookies unless that rookie is a top guy taken to be the franchise QB.

I'll give him sort of a pass for Oakland, their coach is not of the same caliber; but he still got beat by a guy who hadn't done squat in two years. I didn't get the feeling Pryor set the world on fire in camp, but he still beat Flynn.

He also didn't do enough in Buffalo to even stay on the team over an undrafted rookie QB.

He's had plenty of chances, he just isn't good. Maybe he is better in games than in practice, but until you prove yourself, practice is vital.

No we don't.

We realize when he is sucking and call out his poor play.

We also realize that the team is desperate for someone to be the backup to Rodgers.

Dude needs to STAY IN GREEN BAY until he retires. He's not a starter but a great backup that can win the game for you. I wouldn't hang my hat on what he did against Dallas though, Josh McCown looked good against them last week and they've been without Claiborne.

I'm not trying to argue other way, but this whole "take away his best game ever" thing and writing it off as an anomaly isn't really fair.....why not take away his worst game (Thanksgiving against Detroit) as well?

Thing is there is so much more to assessing a QB than the vacuum of any one game. Flynn has performed at a very high level and a very low level in the small sample size of starts we have. I'd say the only way to really know what he is made of as an NFL QB would be to give him the keys for an entire season (at least). Who knows if that will ever happen.

I will say this - despite his flaws and athletic shortcomings, the second half of yesterdays game was a performance steeped in leadership and grit. Those are two qualities I very much like about Matt Flynn.

Hey, lets be real...he is a godsend. Flynn has been one of the top backup qbs in the league for a while now and has proven to pretty awesome when given the chance. The reason we lost all of the other games was the defense, not the Flynnmaster. I would say he is only a couple steps under erin, and if Erin doesn't come back, we could try to trade him for a couple first round picks.

You keep trying too hard...and you keep looking bad doing it.

You're gonna burn this alias into meatwad2.0

McCown and Flynn ripping apart an embarrassing Dallas secondary is causing some people to make some pretty stupid conclusions.
