McClure's BBQ (2 Viewers)

Hotels for new orleans I generally look at:

Hotwire.com
Kayak.com

I generally search in the quarter, CBD, and Warehouse district based on wanting to be in that area. You might want to adjust your search based on where the port is.

Hey guys. Need some last second help. Wife, son and I need to fly in and stay 1 night (sat) somewhere this weekend. Then too the cruise port the next am.

Any recommendations?
A billion options, Royal Sonesta, Monteleone or Bourbon Orleans in the Quarter, but the Hyatt Place and Marriott on Convention Center Blvd are right next to the cruise lines. The Hilton on Poydras is right in between. The Roosevelt is more CBD but just a block or so from teh Quarter.

Wow... lots of stuff booked up this weekend.

Downtown/Superdome has a 4 Star with 95% favorable feedback (read: Awesome hotel) with 2 beds on hotwire for $205 plus fees.

Thx guys. Booked the wyndham, right near rental drop off and port. Gonna check out bourbon St tonight. Good spot to start off?

Tipsy, well be hitting you up on next Sunday before the games start. See ya then

What's the delivery radius? Does it include Missouri?

Oh, great. Now I'm having BBQ cravings. Fortunately, I live inTexas so I can do something about it. But it's still cruel to tease us this way.

Congrats Tipsy! Are you still selling rub? Can you re-post how to order?
Send me a check for $25 to McClure's Barbecue @ 4800 Magazine St. N.O. LA. 70115 with a return address and I'll ship them asap. You get 2oz of each rub (pork, chicken, brisket, and ribs) along with smoked salt to play with as you will.

(yes...the price went up $5....shipping is more expensive than i thought.)

Matt is the kitchen manager / pit master over there. I trained him. He has my recipes. We aren't trying to sell me being there. I'll be the guy that shows up once a week to taste everything and ##### about cleanliness and food labeling & rotation.

I'm coming to NOLA Tuesday night through Friday afternoon. When and where can I meet the famous Mr. McClure (again)?
Lunch on Wed, Fri, or Sunday would be best...but I'm there often outside of that too. Thursday is a terrible. Saturday is terrible...taking a whole pig about 45 away for catering.

I had BBQ one time in that Biloxi/Gulfport area - AnJacs - so awful. Southern towns should have great BBQ, you are sorely needed over there. I will send my friends your way and will consider it doing them a favor.

That makes sense, just seemed like you were getting shut out on the credit.

I like how you're trending Eastward. The Shed's old building still sits vacant across from South Alabama. ;)
2nd this idea. Although horrible exit/entry, I know a lot of people that would go just to see college tail again.ETA not to mention there is a severe lack of decent bbq joints in the area.

I'll plan on Wednesday lunch assuming schedule permits.

Recs for dinner during my time there? I'm staying at the Sheraton near the CBD.

You need to give a price range for dinner. In New Orleans, there's a wide range of prices and choices.

Peche

Cochon

Butcher

Herbsaint

Root

August

Domenica

It's on the company dime, but I have a limited meals and entertainment budget for the fiscal year. I guess I'm looking for not ridiculously priced options near where I'm staying.

Butcher is a solid cheaper meal. The rest are all $25+ entrees for dinner.

Could probably get away cheaper at herbsaint, Dominica and Cochon for lunch

Enjoyed Borgne for dinner friday and finally got to try the brisket cheesesteak at tipsys Saturday... Very very good... Dare I say a touch too much on the Provelone sauce? If FORCED to nitpick an otherwise perfect lunch. Side of BBQ Jambalaya may be the best batch I've had (of half dozen times easily)... Had 3 ribs as well because i can't NOT have ribs there. ;)

Dominica has a great happy hour with half price pizza between 2-5 and .50 oysters and half price drinks - or did the last time I was there.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but I've have access to good bbq. I'm sure yours is top notch stuff, but I suspect in comparing your food to food in this area you would differentiate yourself with the sides IMO. Something tells me this menu would be a huge hit and play to your experience and strengths. Obviously as a business owner you have to follow the money not necessarily your strongest skill set. This menu sounds amazing and creative.

I'm telling you, if you opened a spot in Brooklyn, it would be riskier and more costly, but you'd knock it out of the park. Seriously.

Awesome. What about reservations at Domenica?
They take them, so its safer to make them b/c I'm not sure if there's a huge conference in town or if there are any plays/concerts nearby. Although if you're at a point where you can't make them, I'd imagine you could walk in just fine (not withstanding the play/concerts/convention thing)

I didn't make it out to McClures for lunch today as there was no time to get away from the conference. I called McClure's to see if Tipsy was there this evening, but the guy who answered said he was gone for the night.

I did however make it over to August for dinner. The food was really excellent, although I wish I could have lingered longer and enjoyed it more. My colleague isn't much of a foodie or one to take his time with anything.

I'm hoping to make it over to McClure's for lunch on Friday before my flight departs in the evening. I might be able to do dinner tomorrow night though that's not preferred. Tipsy, will you be there either of those two times?
