McGahee & Ray Rice owners what are you doing this year? (1 Viewer)

I'm just curious what the McGahee and Ray Rice owners are doing this year in their dynasty/keeper leagues. Obviously McGahee hasn't been healthy this year, and his numbers COULD improve as he gets his health back. But I'm growing impatient. Are you guys just holding on to him, trying to trade him (and if so, what are you getting in return?)

Is there reason for optimism later this season?

:lmao:

I hold both in one dynasty and have left both on my bench for the most part the last few weeks. It seems the Ravens feel Rice is not ready yet so he simply stays on the bench. His playing time last week was due to it being a blowout. It also seems that McGahee will still get his carries if he can stay healthy enough. I think both guys are clearly hold guys at this point.

I drafted Ray Rice. Holding him currently, as McGahee is still kind of gimpy and if the Ravens get out of playoff contention, they might want to see more of the rookie.

I haven't been overwhelmed nor bitterly disappointed with his performance so far, what there has been of it.

i dropped Ray Rice weeks ago when it became obvious McLain was the preferred backup to McGahee and was going to get 100% of the goal line love. Noone has picked him up in my 10 team league to date.

Same here - I drafted Ray Rice and tried to trade him to the McGahee owner early on in the season. I dropped Rice once it became clear that McClain was the #2 guy

I picked him up in my 10 team dynasty league as a hold and hope. He was dropped on Wednesday and I claimed him on Sunday morning. I had one of the last WW draws this past week as I am 6-0, seems there wasn't much interest. I dropped Leinart for him who I have been holding since our rookie draft 3 years ago.

I've had all three -- McGahee, McClain, Rice -- on my roster in my dynasty league. McGahee was a holdover from last year, Rice was added in the rookie draft and McClain was an in-season addition. I finally dropped Rice last week, and so far no one has made a move to pick him up.

If you're in a dynasty league, I think you jsut gotta ride the season out. If they ever settle on one RB for full-time work, then that guy will be golden.

I moved Mcgahee for an 09 1st....(but im sitting on R.Rice.)

but im 0-6 as well on this team and decided to roll with CJ3 Rice Smith and Graham and Fargas for now.

The pick will give me much needed help from a 2-4 team.

With Yanda out for year and Terry hurt, RG spot will be manned by Chester, which is a big downgrade and Anderson looked awful against Colts at RT, thus I would temper already muted expectations. Could mean more playing time for McGahee (assuming he is healthy) since they will be forced into more max protect schemes and he is a better blocking back

I have owned both in both of my leagues. In one league we have shallow rosters. I traded McGahee and a package of players for Gore very early on and have been very pleased with that result. I kept Rice after the new McGahee owner expressed disinterest in acquiring Rice. I kept Rice for awhile thinking he would be a great spot play, but instead to my frustration, McLain did what I expected Rice to do. So, I eventually dropped Rice in that league. In my other league, we have very deep rosters and both guys have been on my bench. Both are dynasty leagues and in the latter I am hoping that the value of both will improve, hopefully McGahee this year and Rice next year. I can afford to wait and see in that league because I have SJax, Ronnie, R Bush, C Johnson, and Lendale (amongst other, lesser, RBs) to carry the load.

I own Willis and Ray in a 12 team IDP dynasty league and I am holding both for the duration. one of them will rise up, I hope! I am thinking about trading TJ for McClain to hedge my bet!

Drafted both in a keep 2 league figuring I'd have Willis this year and Ray cheap for next year. Dropped Ray last week and will likely drop McGahee this week unless I can bundle him in a deal somehow - but no one is coming close to biting on anything including him at all.

I drafted Rice in dynasty and I didn't expect anything this year. I drafted him expecting him to be the back of the future. I still believe he will be. I can't imagine dropping him at least until mid-season next year. I would be surprised if we don't see more of him as the year progresses.

Who is the correct backup? Rice seemed to get the carries last game.
This was a product of the situation. They were far behind, they needed Rice to catch a pass and pick up big chunks of yardage quickly. If they play another 17-13 type game, then I think McClain will get more carries again.Rice is taking a Kevin Faulk-like role, but for dynasty leagues, I think this is only temporary and he will get a chance, maybe in November if the team is out of it. In a 3-keeper league, I don't think you hold any of these guys and I would rather have a waiver pickup like Rhodes or Mewelde.
