McGahee Traded to Baltimore (1 Viewer)

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2791831

"The Ravens and Bills agreed to a trade Thursday that will send running back Willis McGahee to Baltimore in exchange for the team's third and seventh-round picks in this year's draft, along with the Ravens' third-round pick in 2008, league sources tell ESPN.com's Michael Smith."

A lot more than we thought going in this deal for McGahee.

I don't know what's worse... Giving Joey Porter 20 million in guarantees or 3 draft picks for McGahee.

Buffalo definitely made out in this trade...

Lots of McGahee haters here already. We'll have to see how he can do in a real offense now. Seems like a fair deal to me.

Lynch to the Bills at 12 has been intriguing me for a while now - it seems like a full blown possibility at this point.

Am I the only one who remembers McGahee before mularky riuned him? I guess I'm the only one who still thinks McGahee could/should be an upper echelon back. Now I not sold that Baltimores O-line is still good enough to produce Big numbers but still were are talking about one of the most explosive rbs coming out of college. What Happened? Are people letting personally opinion cloud there judgement?

Just Curious..

How many 3rd round picks become sensations in this league? Seriously...trading 3rds and 5ths and 7ths...most of that stuff never hits the field. The larger percentage end up not on the team in 2-3 seasons.

Problem is, I don't see Baltimore as having a much better OL than Buffalo did LAST season. Buffalo has started to upgrade this season.

Brown in Buffalo is a waste of time.

Marshawn Lynch to the Bills? I think that might be a great pick for the Bills at this point.

McGahee's FF stock just jumped !!
I would agree, although it's modest. He definitely landed on a team in better shape to play grind it out ball control football - although these things can change quickly. The Bills Oline is getting better, and the Ravens just let Mulitalo go... The Bills defense is young and improving, the Ravens just lost Adalius Thomas...

Seriously. The 3rd they gave up is what the 3-4 picks from the last pick on day 1? They had how many wins last year? It's not as if they have a ton of holes in their team. They have a window of about 2 more years so they are paying for an upgrade at RB.If the Ravens improve their line I could see McGahee as about the #9-11 back going into the year.

What I don't understand is debating the merits of trading a late first, early second for Michael Turner, and feigning outrage at two 3rds for MGahee.

McGahee was ruined by Buffalo's crap surrounding talent...yes Baltimore's offence isn't gagnbusters, but the style of play, the lower scoring games and the stud defence will allow McGahee to have a ton of carries which should equal god numbers....Better then Buffalo.

:goodposting: Hopefully the Rabbid Turner Homers can stop saying what a idea it would be for a team to give up a 1st + 3rd for Turner. Wait til next year people.

Damn I'm good. I called this over a month ago on these boards. At the time, nothing was being written about the possibility.

Where's the pat-yourself-on-the-back smilie? :goodposting:

Thank you.Mid and late-round picks are vastly over-rated. However, I think the deal will look a little rough for BALT once we see the amount of coin in McGahee's re-worked contract.

I see your point, MOP.. What this does give Buffalo, however, is leverage. The extra picks give them much more latitude to swing draft day deals to land the players they've targeted on their board who may slip out of their fingers on draft day without those extra picks for maneuvering up and snatching them.Otherwise, 3rd round picks can be valuable providing your team has the scouting/front office to make full use of them. In Detroit, for example, they would be plundered. Heck, we can't even get our 1st and 2nd round picks right, so fahgitabout those third rounders. :goodposting:

Guys in his Prime and hes Battle-tested...The 2nd 3rd pick is what hurts.. but if you get past the Colts this yr in the playoffs.. then it worth it.

Next yr; they should look into a young QB. then that team will really be something

I don't think it's a lot at all. Considering a team use a 1st rounder year or so ago...would you trade a 1st for 2 3rd's and 7th? Answer = NO!

Just goes to show that RB's lose value in NFL, where RB's in FF gain value for the most part.

Buffalo definitely made out in this trade...
I completely disagree. They've been robbed of their best player for throw away scraps.Good luck to the Bills
Lee Evans was traded?I like McGahee as much as the next guy (not as much as the ladies), but Evans is the Bills offense. I'm loving this trade, but McGahee is my 3rd RB in a 2 start league. :banned:

On more than one occasion this offseason, Ozzie has said they are looking for that QB to take over in 2008 or 2009 this year. They know McNair doesn't have much shelf-life left. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take one of the 2nd level QBs after Quinn and Russell, with their first or second round pick. Maybe Stanton?

RBs lose a ton of value when they're no longer playing under affordable rookie contracts.

Actually, you would be suprised. The woman he's seen around town with are kinda ugly. Back to topic though.....

I really hope we are not gonna count on Brown, Rhodes or Dillon as our RB. It seems like all the RB's available are beeing snatched up and the Bills will have to choose between what's left. I think I would cry (tears of joy) if the Bills traded up to get Peterson. I would still be happy with Lynch, but the two of them don't even compare.

Gotta think Baltimore takes OL with their first and maybe second picks now. They need Ogden to stay one more year too.

 The O-line wasn't very good but with Ogden considering retirement, Pashos moving on and Mulitalo being let go, that O-line in Baltimore could be terrible. McGahee has averaged 4 yards per carry once in 3 years. He's just never got his explosiveness back after blowing out his knees.

My first reaction was, "is that it?". A late 3rd this year and a 3rd next year (equivalent of a 4th this year) and a 7th. I actually think McGahee is good.
