Some players bring more than just physical ability. Great signing by the Browns IMO.3 years? really? good player but $4 million a year for a 34 year old DE is a tad much.

Are you suggesting hes going to get $4mil base per year? Ill bet he'll never see half that money.3 years? really? good player but $4 million a year for a 34 year old DE/LB is a tad much.

McGinest, who visited with Browns coache and team officials on Tuesday as his first stop in free agency, will sign a three-year, $12 million contract that includes $6 million in bonuses and guarantees.
i don't disagree that he is a stand up guy with tons of experience and leadership. he's replacing chaun thompson, i gather? if not, who is he replacing? davis leave? Some players bring more than just physical ability. Replacing Ben Taylor which is a HUGE upgrade.i don't disagree that he is a stand up guy with tons of experience and leadership. he's replacing chaun thompson, i gather? if not, who is he replacing? davis leave? Some players bring more than just physical ability. no doubt. i think willie is an outstanding player but wonder how much gas he has left in the tank.Replacing Ben Taylor which is a HUGE upgrade.i don't disagree that he is a stand up guy with tons of experience and leadership. he's replacing chaun thompson, i gather? if not, who is he replacing? davis leave? Some players bring more than just physical ability. Hopefully 3 years worth.no doubt. i think willie is an outstanding player but wonder how much gas he has left in the tank.Replacing Ben Taylor which is a HUGE upgrade.i don't disagree that he is a stand up guy with tons of experience and leadership. he's replacing chaun thompson, i gather? if not, who is he replacing? davis leave? Some players bring more than just physical ability. OLB was possibly the biggest need of the team, followed by NT. Now they have short term answers at both positions. It would be nice to get some solid rookies in the draft to learn from these guys.Replacing Ben Taylor which is a HUGE upgrade.i don't disagree that he is a stand up guy with tons of experience and leadership. he's replacing chaun thompson, i gather? if not, who is he replacing? davis leave? Some players bring more than just physical ability. Solid player, but I don't see the paying a 34 year old this much and you are not ready to advance in the playoffs. Cleveland has set themselves up but I see it more in a year or 2 (granted it happens quickly in the NFL now) and McGinnest seems more of a last piece of the puzzle guy.I am not saying it is a bad signing, but I don't see it as real good either because I still think Cleveland is more than a year away.Solid move. He's essentially a known commodity in Romeo's defensive scheme and brings a ton of onfield and off the field leadership.
How much are bonuses and how much are guarantees? A $5M roster bonus due in March of 2008 is not likely to be paid.McGinest, who visited with Browns coache and team officials on Tuesday as his first stop in free agency, will sign a three-year, $12 million contract that includes $6 million in bonuses and guarantees.
I would disagree here. Last year, we went 6-10. This year, we now have 6 big free agent signings, we get Winslow back, Braylon Edwards back, and a year of experience for Charlie Frye, an entire year of the 3-4 defense under our belt, and rookies in the draft (we didn't really lose any veterans). We should easily be 8-8 if we can stay healthy, and very possibly 10-6 with a good shot at the playoffs.Solid player, but I don't see the paying a 34 year old this much and you are not ready to advance in the playoffs. So who doesnt make the playoffs now, Bengals or Steelers? Ravens will not improve?I would disagree here. Last year, we went 6-10. I don't really know, but I would think both could be in for letdown years. I'm not guaranteeing playoffs, I just think its more than a little possible. I think the Bengals will really struggle if Palmer doesn't come back strong, and could see them sinking again, and I've always thought the Steelers were overrated. If I were predicting, I would think the Browns would be the only team from the AFC North to make the playoffs. So who doesnt make the playoffs now, Bengals or Steelers? They all leave man, they all leave...*Patsfan*
He always seems to find a little something during the playoffs. Great football player although I wish it was another team who signed him.no doubt. i think willie is an outstanding player but wonder how much gas he has left in the tank.Replacing Ben Taylor which is a HUGE upgrade.i don't disagree that he is a stand up guy with tons of experience and leadership. he's replacing chaun thompson, i gather? if not, who is he replacing? davis leave? Some players bring more than just physical ability. Roye/Washington/Wroten?McGinest/Davis/Taylor/ThompsonI am puzzled ... Ben Taylor was an ILB. Wont Willie replace Kenard Lang/Matt Stewart?
Aren't you still looking for an ILB?
Stewart/Davis/Taylor/Thompson ... to Willie/Davis/?/Thompson
Shine on, you crazy diamond.I've always thought the Steelers were overrated. If I were predicting, I would think the Browns would be the only team from the AFC North to make the playoffs.
they seem to be walking the line perfectly between urgency and patienceI am really, really liking the Browns moves since Savage & Crennell came aboard.
Amazing what a good GM & Coach can do for a Franchise.
I like the moves but now you are just being silly, especially with Charlie Frye at QB.If I were predicting, I would think the Browns would be the only team from the AFC North to make the playoffs.
Agree. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the Browns take a QB in this draft.I like the moves but now you are just being silly, especially with Charlie Frye at QB.If I were predicting, I would think the Browns would be the only team from the AFC North to make the playoffs.
What color is the sky in your world? The Browns have moved ahead of the Ravens. Nothing else.I don't really know, but I would think both could be in for letdown years. Its just my non-biased opinion based on the offseason Anyhow, Pitt and Cincinnati both had great years and neither should have as good of a year this year IMOWhat color is the sky in your world? Cincinnati MAYBE slows down a little without Palmer, but how can you say that about Pittsburgh? Its just my non-biased opinion based on the offseason Anyhow, Pitt and Cincinnati both had great years and neither should have as good of a year this year IMOWhat color is the sky in your world? Because they won the Super Bowl, and it is hard to have a better season than that.Cincinnati MAYBE slows down a little without Palmer, but how can you say that about Pittsburgh? Its just my non-biased opinion based on the offseason Anyhow, Pitt and Cincinnati both had great years and neither should have as good of a year this year IMOWhat color is the sky in your world?
