Watching NFL Total Access...they just reported he may not play, and that he has a sports hernia that may require surgery(Which would end his season).Did anyone see this? (Yes, I own him and am now freaking out) :X

NOOOOO. I hate being in a TD only league. Guys like FWP, Mi. Clayton, Branch, Bruce aren't worth much. Hopefully Dilfer puts on a probowl campaign as the only QBs I could've taken in the draft (8 man keeper) was McNair or Carr.

:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I just made a post about Rex Grossman, possibly adding him at seasons end because I felt if McNabb made it through the season, he wouldnt next year. ### #### that Madden curse. I swear to god if Chad Johnson is on the cover next year I'm trading him.:goingtotryandtrademcnabbforanothertopqb:

As of yesterday . . .

Eagles likely to limit QB's reps in practiceAssociated PressPHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb is going to spend the rest of the season in pain.Already playing with a bruised chest and groin injury, McNabb has an abdominal strain that may not heal until after the season. While McNabb winced on many plays, the injuries hardly affected his numbers as he threw for 365 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Philadelphia's 23-20 victory over the Raiders on Sunday."I'm a little banged up. It would be great to go out and not have any injuries, but in life, you have adversities," McNabb said.Coach Andy Reid said the Eagles were concerned McNabb had a sports hernia, a tear in the abdominal area that likely would have needed surgery. Instead, the Eagles will likely have to limit McNabb's reps in practice. He's missed one practice each of the last two weeks after taking a hit to the chest in the opener against Atlanta"We'll see how he does the next week," Reid said. "Time should help heal that. You don't have a lot of time, that's the thing."After throwing five touchdowns in last week's win against San Francisco, McNabb struggled in the first half. He threw for only 99 yards with an interception and no touchdowns.McNabb found his rhythm in the second half, throwing touchdown passes to Terrell Owens and Brian Westbrook in the third quarter. He finished 30-for-52 for 365 yards."He just battled through it like the warrior that he is," Reid said.McNabb has played through pain in the past. He broke his ankle in the first quarter of a game against Arizona in 2002 but stayed in and threw four TDs. He had trouble playing with an injured thumb in 2003 but didn't miss any time.McNabb said he plans to seek more tests to make sure the injury is nothing worse than an abdominal strain."I've heard a lot of things," McNabb said. "We're trying to make sure we get the right answers."Backup Koy Detmer warmed up briefly in the first half but did not go in. Reid said he considered putting the career reserve in if McNabb couldn't go after a couple big hits rattled him."Donovan was constantly saying, 'I'll do it,'" Detmer said. "You don't want to see a guy putting himself out there in a harmful way. Obviously, I could tell he was in some pain. He had just taken a big shot. He was getting up kind of slow."
ESPN LINKNot sure if there was newer news from today.

If this is indeed true, I could see bumping up Westbrook a tick. The dumpoff's may be more frequent.

soooo, who takes over if McNabb is out. McMahon or Detmer? Detmer is listed as the number 2 on the "official" Eagles site. FBG's has McMahon #2.

Detmer was the one that came in and threw 9 passes.

Now that we're in full catharsis mode, linky?EDIT to clarify: I want a link saying that he's not going to wait to undergo surgery.

Boy I would think McMahon is a better long term option than Detmer. Not sure how this would help any Eagle, their scoring should come down considerably.

From ROTOWIRE today:Sep 27. Coach Andy Reid said yesterday that he expects QB Donovan McNabb to start Sunday despite his numerous injuries. Reid said McNabb played Week 3 with an abdominal strain, a bruised shin and a chest bruise. ''He should be fine for the game,'' Reid said. ''We need to get rid of the soreness and he should be all right.'' More: Philadelphia Inquirer

I think it was just one person's opinion, but that person said Detmer was listed as number 2 (and came in to throw some) because he was the holder.

I see nothing as of yet to indicate McNabb defenitiely has a sports hernia, that he will miss any time, that he needs nurgery, or he could miss the rest of the season, and I've looked at the usual places that would be quick to report this.So unless Total Access has a scoop, there's no place else reporting anything to that effect. This is not to say it's not true and won't be reported on soon, but no other media outlet that I've found is reporting it.

Sep 26 Already playing with a bruised chest and groin injury, McNabb also has an abdominal strain that may not heal until after the season, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: Of course, the injuries have hardly seem to affect his numbers -- in Sunday's win over the Raiders, McNabb threw for 365 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Coach Andy Reid said the Eagles were concerned that McNabb might have a sports hernia -- a tear in the abdominal area that likely would have needed surgery. Instead, the Eagles figure to limit McNabb's reps in practice and the QB will continue to play through the aches, pains and strains on game days.

He should have the surgery now. Can't really find it unless you do an exploratory since it effects the posterior wall. Put some mesh in there and most guys only miss 4-6 weeks. Eagles can survive until he gets back.

I just went to an all Eagle chat and they said McMahon would be the QB.
I really wish the language filter didn't work right now, because I really just want to say "####". ####, ####, ####,####!!!!!!!

Thanks--I feel better. (McNabb owner in one league, TO owner in the other).

He should have went in for an exploratory yesterday. If it's indeed a hernia, it's only going to get worse. They could have fixed him up and he could have been back after the bye, only missing two games.

So if McNabb were to miss any time, who would play in his place? Nfl.com has Detmer as the #2, and I don't really know if the people in the Eagles' chat are reliable.

I just talked to the Sports Editor at the CBS-TV affiliate in Philadelphia who was in contact with the team this afternoon, and he said there is no truth to the rumor that McNabb will be out for the season and that there is any plans for any surgery. He basically said McNabb is banged up right now, the team will give him limited to no practice this week, and the team seems to think that he will play this weekend but will give the other QBs the practice reps this week. That's current as of 8:15 Eastern on Tuesday, if you want to take the word of a Sports Editor in Philly.

Yes thanks!

:wall:  this is not good :X I admit I freaked out when I read the first few posts and as I saw the post from David it make me feel a little more at ease but if McNabb is gone for the year I will have a very hard time recovering from that. It means that I will have to play Griese as my #1 and pick up the leftovers on the WW.Maybe Bollinger will still be there :wall:

McNabb May Get Second Opinion - Day to Day

Here is a link to a story that claims McNabb may get a second opinion. I assume that means an opinion outside of the organization.

I am sure we will know more by Thursday, but trading McNabb or even possibly TO for any type of similiar value is probably a very wise move. If McNabb goes out, I would think Westbrook's value would drop as well, since defenses could key on him a little more than Owens. (since Detmer sucks).
