Mediterranean Advice (1 Viewer)

I have a friend getting married in Sicily this August and a small group of us are looking for recommendations.  Most of us have been through Italy a couple of times so that's out.

We're wondering if there are any must visit cities along the European side of the Mediterranean coast?  Basically Greece/France/Spain.

Thanks!

Corfu, Greece is a nice island, but I wouldn't consider it "must visit" (I've been spoiled by carrib islands).

The coolest place we visited in Greece were the monasteries in Meteora but they're a couple of hours inland from the coast.

I don't know if they're must visits- but I've only just discovered them on a map for the first time... some small islands between Italy and Tunisia- Lampedusa, Linosa, Pantelleria- that have completely captured my fantasy. I think you can ferry there from sicily. for that matter, Tunisia or morocco would be interesting as completely alternative options. I was working on some projects in Tangiers and it seemed from afar like a very cool spot.

I have friends that spent some time in the smaller islands running up the italian coast from sicily and those look amazing too.

for cities- Barcelona is the first that jumps to mind. could spend a nice trip going from Barcelona up and down the coast.

or hop over to the old jugo coastline- dubrovnik, split etc.

Just rent a car, dood - Sicily's got all you want. Just as soon chill @ Cefalu or Sciacca as Ibiza or Mykonos, Agrigento's got intense food and my favorite ruined city (right next to a perfect beach),  the sky city of Erice is a very special place and Taormina's got all the trendy & chica action you'd want and is next to a volcano. And the people are wonderful - crazy, but wonderful

No need to leave Sicily. From North, South, East to West, the island is different wherever you go. We spent 10 days there last year and it wasn't nearly enough.

greece is on the adriatic,  no?

on the med side, malta is pretty cool, palma di majorca, valencia, barcelona, marseilles, nice, monaco, aix in provence, avignon, genoa.  of course cinque terre, pisa or lucca, rome.  friend of mine swears by sardinia.

been to all, each is special.  monaco is pretty special.  valencia was awesome and has a great aquarium.  marseilles is touristy.
