Top 50 Sandwiches - Ranked by Scoresman (1 Viewer)

I posted in the LA thread, but will here also. Looking for a local or regional sandwich/sub shop in LA north of LAX. I’m on the east coast and have never been to LA. I’ve checked out some reviews on YouTube and Google but trust the FFA far more!

I remember really liking The Hat when in LA one time. Probably more than I should have.

#19 - Po-Boy

Country of origin: USA 🇺🇸

Crusty long roll split and filled with cold cuts, roasted beef or fried seafood. The New Orleans analogue to the sub or hoagie.

So many different types. I've had some variations of shrimp, catfish, and sausages.

#17 - Pulled Pork

Country of origin: USA 🇺🇸

Pork shoulder, slow cooked until fall apart tender, on a bun.

What my crock pot makes the most. I just love the tanginess of the apple cider vinegar and a good BBQ sauce.
Are you from New England by chance?

 on the bolded

Talk to me about Cubanos, especially the roast pork component. Is this something sold in a grocery store, or do I need to plan to roast it myself? Tbh, I kind of want to do it myself, but I need to know if I have some kind of blind spot for the already roasted variety. Thanks
Mr R loves those things. He says you want moist, rather than dry pork. Pot roast is what you are shooting for- shredded on the sandwich. Pork tenderloin is aces.

the main thing that comes to mind when I hear that phrase ...

I've collected a provisional list of over 50 dishes with noodles but haven't gotten around to rankings and writeups yet.

Most of the Italian dishes are based on the sauce rather than pasta type but some of the Asian entries are differentiated by their noodles. :oldunsure:
You had me at chow fun.

Show me the soup noodles!!!

Our Chinese restaurant has SIngapore Chow Mei Fun. Excellent.
While I like Thai and Indian curries, I don’t love the Chinese versions we have here.

I am a fiend for the Singapore noodles with “gravy”. léuhng mihn wòhng
It's the Singapore version. We do get actual Chinese stuff, too, not just the American Chinese stuff. We know they are Chinese because the owner and her family went to China to visit family back in July. She is very nice.

This would be a great thread. I have a lot of opinions on noodles.

Some may need it to be gluten free

just peaked at this list….i think the ranking of Panino for Italy is flawed. A Panino is a sammich. If you get a fresh Porchetta Panino it is better than a Mortadella Panino at the auto chef rest stop and surely should be higher on the list, cause for €3 here, it’s taste and value moves it way up the list. i mean, has to be better than a BLT.

I ordered this yesterday at the Little Goat Diner, which is Stephanie Izard's casual cousin to The Girl and the Goat. I got it even though it said, "Sammie," which is so irritating.

Shrimp Sammie

seasoned shrimp, crab cream cheese, avocado, crispy onions, pickles, toasted hoagie

One of the best non-mainstream sandwiches I've ever had.

The Girl and the Goat is legendary. Can't do the pickles on that but everything else sounds dreamy - how was the toasted hoagie bun? Was it closer to a toasted po boy with the thin shatter outside and soft inside or more of a toasted italian roll (this is important **** - lol)

Sounds great but did you have to use a fork to eat it?
