Members March Mock - Match (1 Viewer)

I just read that Eric Berry resigned. I will need a minute to go a different direction.
It surprised me when they signed Berry(he deserves it) and DIDN'T franchise Poe. I guess salary cap hell again? It's a shame they couldn't keep both of them.

Surprised by the last 2 picks. They were guys I was looking at for Detroit. I get Jones but think Barnett might be a reach and I'm not sure he fits the mold of DEs that the Bengals usually like.
Agree he might be a reach but think that can be said of basically anyone left after those top handful of guys and top QBs. Once you get past the top 7 or 8, there's a big group of guys all kind of in the same tier IMO.

Dane Brugler said on twitter that there aren't 10 top-10 caliber guys in this draft, but there are 100 top-60 caliber guys. That's how I see it as well. Incredible depth this year, but kind of lacking in elite talent.

As for DE type, definitely true in the past but Bengals have said multiple times this offseason that they aren't married to the super long DEs anymore. De facto GM Duke Tobin noted how the game is changing and you need more speed off the edge and more hybrid guys. And the DC Paul Guenther has said multiple times he doesn't care if the DE is only 6'3, 260 as long as he can rush the passer.

Agree that there's few elite guys (5 at most). There while first 2 rounds though are loaded with instant impact guys though.

Dallas Picks Florida CB Teez Tabor -

Slam dunk here, fills a huge need with Claiborne and Carr both free agents.  I like him over Jackson in the Cowboys zone based D, he is not as fast straight line as Jackson, but he will have safety help over the top in this D.  His close speed and ball skills are excellent. I believe him to be a better tackler and an excellent zone-recognition corner than Jackson as well.

"DONT TEEZ ME BRO!"

Any worries it takes Njoku (like most TEs) 2-3 years to reach starter quality play?
Sure....but he's a definite upgrade from Tye, Adams and Donnell. They all below average options at TE, and don't strike fear in opposing teams secondary...whereas Njoku could be a matchup nightmare for smaller corners and SAM/3-4 LB's...spreading the field for OBJ and Shepard, possibly Perkins....

H. Henry tied for the lead in TD's as a rookie...and that was sharing time with 45 yo A Gates ....

Not trying to compare the two(Njoku and Henry) ...as SD TE's got 40 more targets than NYG TE's

but something like 40 catches(65 targets) 500-600 and 6+ TDs would be a nice start to a career

maybe those are lofty goals but anything over that in a rookie year is gravy imho

1.29 Green Bay Packers select...

Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford.
I was thinking about happening during the combine. It's fun to think that they can run 5 wide, 2 back sets and switching backs through motion. Without ever changing personnel. Very fun pick.

1.30 Pittsburgh Steelers- Takkarist Mckinley- Edge rusher, UCLA

The anticipated 5 month surgery recovery is an issue but he's just what the doctor ordered for this team which is in dire need of being able to pressure the QB. A lot of good CB's available but feel like that can be addressed later in the draft and if Steelers can't put pressure on QB the CB's can't hold coverage that long anyway.

1.31 Atlanta Falcons- Charles Harris- Edge rusher, Missouri

Vic Beasley and the defense has a whole was improving big time last season. 10 post season sacks was big part of their almost SB win. But they need to add more an another edge pass rusher to go along with Beasley on a team that has ability to get out early and let their defense tee off makes a lot of sense.

I believe this puts @-OZ- up

Pats were looking his way at 32
I dunno if i would like that for McCaffrey in fantasy as much as Green Bay. McCaffrey is good enough that I would assume BB wouldn't RBBC so much as to make McCaffrey disappear from the game plan, but they really haven't relied on one guy in a long time. He would likely play some receiver for them also, so perhaps wouldn't matter. The Pats just make me nervous as a fantasy player.

Patriots love their wolverines

1.32 jabrill peppers, Jack of all trades, Michigan

Another player with raw skills who will be coached up

The ultimate Swiss Army Knife on the collegiate level, and will likely play a hybrid role on the next level that allows him to blitz, cover and chase, Peppers' draft value will be helped by his return ability and that is a role he should maintain throughout the earlier stages of his career. While Peppers doesn't have the production teams expect from first-round defenders, he should benefit from a role that is more clearly defined on the next level.

Well when you don't have your QB, you have to keep taking shots. And if you're going to compete in the AFC North, you better come with a big body who can spin in through the cold and take the big hits.  Hopefully Hue can take the physical tools and fine tune the passing skills.

With the 1st pick of the 2nd round, #33 overall, the Cleveland Browns select

DeShone Kizer, QB, ND

Really considered both with Lions pick. Can't ever invest enough in edge rush.

To be honest I was considering Kizer for the Dolphins. I just didn't do it because for better or worse i think Gase is tied to Tannehill by the front office. They hired him to make it work with the QB they have.

I kind of doubt Kizer will be available this late, would be a steal for the Browns where Captain Q got him.

Maybe Kizer will turn out as well as another Indiana qb drafted 2.01

Agree you really can't enough.

I'm a Steeler fan so more familiar with their needs than Atlanta but watching Brady carve them up in the playoffs was tough to stomach and of course he led NE back in SB against other team whose pick  I control. Steelers secondary is not very good at press man coverage but if they had a shutdown corner like prime Dion than Brady would have just picked them apart somewhere else. Some matchups in the NFL are different but on the whole I think a good secondary can make a pass rush look better but not nearly as good as a strong pass rush can improve the performance of a secondary.

A lot of options here, but assuming they don't win the Bouye sweepstakes, and I doubt they will, they need CB help.

With the 2nd pick of round 2, the 49ers select:

Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State

2.35 Jacksonville Jaguars - Forrest Lamp, OT/OG Western Kentucky

Fast riser will likely be a first rounder come draft time. In this scenario would shore up the interior line until possibly kicking outside to replace the recently acquired Albert.

BOO!!!!!!!!!!!

:yucky:

It was my understanding the Colts lost the coin flip with Minnesota which means Indy has 46, Baltimore has 47 and Minny has 48.
When there is a "tie" in the initial drat order, the NFL tends to rotate the order round-to-round.  So if the Vikings won the flip and got the higher round 1 pick, they would pick behind those teams in the next round.

Nice pick. That's who I had lined up for the Chargers

With the 4th pick in the 2nd round, 35th overall, the Chicago Bears select SS Obi Melifonwu from UCONN.

The Bears get their future QB in the first round which was their top priority.  Their second priority is the secondary and Obi is a fantastic player that the Bears have been high on.  Should be an instant starter.
