Anyone know icons real name?
:lmao:

I love the awkwardness of this situation.

I recently went to McClure's in New Orleans with a bunch of people from my cousin's wedding party, and, as I saw Neil manning the register, I realized that I was going to have to out myself in front of everyone as an Internet messageboard nerd named "Buckfast 1." It was worth it to finally connect with Tipsy!

So true. Probably a dozen times yesterday someone asked, "so, what's your connection to the team?"

"Um...well...the message board...footballguys...I kinda know Matt."

Very effective for impressing the womens.

Holy hell my feet hurt. Tonight was an amazing amazing party. Just impossibly good vibes all around. At one point a buddy (on the team) turned to me and said "have you noticed how happy everyone is?" Looked around and it kinda hit me.. Hundreds of people dancing, drinking, talking but every last damn person had a huge #### eating grin. Almost zero problems all night. Got cornered repeatedly and showered with thanks so profusely it made me uncomfortable at times.

Grabbed the mic and with one track left thanked the crowd below for coming out to celebrate with a "first year" team... Whole place roared. It was kinda surreal.

Shut the door due to capactity and we had people crawling under the scaffold to sneak in at one point....

Jason / JTG came by again and he brought in some very attractive girls... Attaboy! :hifive: thanks again for all the help setting up the booth and around the booth.

The Bonomo (sbonomo) Brothers were all over the place helping run entries, bartending, etc..fantastic guys too.

Joe Bryant was a great surprise. Hung out and helped us in the kitchen and went with to the stage for awards. Was great to see ya GB!

I need sleep. Comp day tomm

 nice to see some food pics on the twitters too

I need icon's number...or someone who can get my buddy on the guest list at McClure's (only him, nobody else). He just moved there and wants to check this out. If it helps, he would be a good guy to know if you like going to the FedEx Forum, but besides that, just a great guy. Help him out.

How do they not win best booth?
:goodposting:

I'm wondering if the attention they have been getting for their booth might be hurting them in here eyes of the judges.
The booth looks great and a fantastic place for a party, but best booth winners are creative and can be pretty genius--think much more artistic and stuff. There was one the first year I went that was made, inside and out, to look like a Moroccan riad. I'll try to scrounge up some pictures. The type of booth they've done would never win in the booth contest just for being big.

So you're telling me size doesn't matter??

When it comes to booths, only.

Here is a crappy shot of the outside of the one I mentioned, which came in second that year IIRC. Both the outside and the inside were completely built to give the effect of a riad, the inside with velvet and satin fabrics, a water feature, tiles, etc. It was incredible and didn't even win either!

Saw on twitter that the booth is coming down already. For some reason I would have thought it would stay up for a bit last blast of a night after the judging is done. Huh.

Speaking of judging...when do we find out the results. I hope you guys bring home some hardware

Yeah we didn't even enter best booth. We never go with the country theme.

We tore down all the graphics, decorative lights, ferns, decorations but left bar in and light/sound and had a "kill the bar party". Motioned in random gals and cool folks and fed them (we had 20-30 slabs ribs, 50 thighs, 4 butts, etc).. Then fed the whole sheriffs department.

The main reason for the lack of party on sat is loading out on Sunday (#### load of work) hungover sucks. Neil wanted to party so we did till 7-8. Next year we are hiring labor for load out so we can throw down Saturday.

No word on finish yet.... Friends got 5th and 13th.

No that's not me... That's my buddy Matt who's also on the team and who is head of a local scaffold company who built out setup. He's a bit of a country boy in case ya can't tell by his accent. Great guy.

Getting ready to head down to the park with tipsy and the GF in about an hour.

Today sucks... Load out day. Gotta get EVERYTHING out of the scaffold and loaded into trailers, save the light/sound system, porta potties, and tables/chairs (which will be picked up by the providers). Then we have to tear up the ~3000 sq ft of soaked Carpet and load it down to the dumpster nearby.

Hoping to be able to knock it out in 3-4 hours of hard work... Then a long shower, a nice healthy dinner with lots of veggies, and hitting the sack around 8:30

Should find out today on rib score. Finishes friday ranged from 21st in poultry to 3rd from last in wings (?!!?). Very odd year for judging. Hoping for a decent finish in ribs. The first couple slabs were fantastic, but a couple of the judges dinged us down to 9.9 and 9.8 due to reasons ranging from legitimate (hair to tough to pull from bone), to subjective (not quite enough enough spice for her liking)... all the way to bizzare (too hot to the touch).

My prediction is a middle of the pack finish. 60s or so? We shall see. Hoping for higher for GB tipsys sake. The first round of his ribs were flat out fantastic though.

Nailed it...64th of 120.

Lots of talk for next year already... Bigger booth space for more porta potties and bigger pit area.

Meat supplier came in and are down 100pct to supply us with free ribs and cheap butts again.

Light/sound company re-texted that they are all in on us next year and it will be even better. Talking about settin up zones of sound to better distribute music thru the booth (rather than cranking it up on dance floor).

Lots of other little details... This year was insane though. Eagerly awaiting the full sbonomo review once he and bro land. Got a call from em this AM and they sounded like they were still partying. Those guys are animals. Super helpful around the booth as well. Hell, they're in the team pics this year

It takes balls to put your name on the line like this for what amounts to a total crapshoot. Great effort and the pics look insane. Should only get better with more experience.

So am I to understand that they give everyone the same source on ribs but not the rest of it?

Everyone is responsible for sourcing their own ribs. Most buy from Keith farms / Fayette packing... Though some buy from other sources like Compart Duroc.

Fantastic pics.
Yeah, we need a name list on the team pic.
Team Pic (ish)

The FBGs:

[icon] = Red Sox hat 1/3 of way in from the right behind guy in Green Jacket (I was late to the pic as I was upstairs)

Tipsy = 3rd from right in McClure's TShirt and Visor

sbonomo = Two twin brothers are tough to tell apart. Either 5th from right (front row) or 3rd from left (2nd row)

The Team Background (From left to right):

D Silver: Event Promotion / Lighting / Sound. Founded Silver Productions and brought in top tier Euro DJs for years.

C Sumner: Finance. Great help in kitchen, behind bar. Hard worker. Fun ### guy to party with.

S Bonomo #1: Not on team (yet?). Just met this year. Great help around the booth. Great to party with.

R Sidhu: Healthcare Administration. Great organizer. Our "Money guy" handling tips/donations/etc during the event.

M McConnnell: IT Systems. Team DJ. Spins thurs/fri night. Also landed key sponsors and helped Nolan's set up light/sound.

R Campbell: Heads Scaffold Company. Assisted bro M Campbell w booth. Spent most of fest bartending & loved it.

D Basham: Sports Radio personality. Offers airtime as sponsor promo packs. Bartended a ton. Worked his ### off.

M Campbell: Heads Scaffold Company. Lead on our scaffold design/construction. Huge connections with Festival organizers.

Me: Marketing. Team Lead / Coordinator. Whip Cracker. Helped design booth. Organized Bar. Helped in Kitchen. Social Media.

S Bomono #2: See S Bonomo #1 above

B Grinder: Owns construction company. Extremely resourceful. Hard worker and went overboard on "extras" for booth.

N McClure: Head Chef/Pitmaster. Nuff Said.

L Keithley: Attorney. Huge help in the kitchen and behind the bar. Hard worker. Great level-headed thinker when things get heated.

R Ansley: Restaurant owner/manager. Resourceful for kitchen supplies, setup. Helpful with general stuff around booth as well.

Not In Pic:

J MIck: Restuarant & Property Mgmt. Team Tall Guy (6'7"). Critical for bar and kitchen operations. Built kitchen for neil. Keg lifter.

D Quarles: Team Ghost. Missed all but one meeting. Missed Load In. Missed Wed/Team Night. Didn't help during fest. Helped Load Out.

K Ashford: Military Pilot / Electrician / Powerlifter : Assists with keg hauling, bar stuff, wearing of fuzzy bunny suits.

Dwight is very likely off the team next year.

Silver is officially on and I imagine the Bonomo brothers will be brought up and seriously considered... particularly if they can raise some of the financing we were talking about at the fest. Very solid guys (taking nothing away from JTG, Ray Karpis, Brady Marino at all... just had bonomo brothers there for duration and were actively campaigning for team membership)

I want a Mclures BBQ visor

Let me know who to paypal
We actually have quite a few of the McClure's 2014 BBQFest T Shirts remaining. Will likely put em up for sale and post up the link here if there is interest. $25 gets you a comfy shirt and koozie.

As far as the visors go, I think Tipsy bought up the balance of them for his restaurant. I'll wait for him to post up here.

nice work and thanks for posting updates on this. Looks like a blast and I'd love to make it there someday.

Great job everyone! Thanks for keeping up with updates so we could follow along.

So how did the Tinder work out? Also, how did McClure's do while Tipsey was gone?
