Mendenhall played his last game for Pittsburgh? (1 Viewer)

A 5th round scatback to handle Mewelde Moore's old responsibilities and be a big contributor to special teams.

And not even a single UDFA 'back signed either.

I am very excited to see who the Steelers draft at RB today.
Update?
Turbin or Polk is your update. Check back in tomm night. *Add Lamar Miller

Yeah, a 180-pound scat back in the fifth round. Just keep backpedaling. :lmao:

What am I backpedaling from? I said that I was interested to see who the Steelers draft at RB. You are entering the grey area of forum stalking and I have just added you to my "ignore" list. Go away Tina.

I think they let him walk. He spins too damn much. He fumbled in the sb. He has had some practice and playbook issues and has been hurt.

They like redman and batch/rainey as the cop/3rd dwn.

No, you've been touting your belief that Mendenhall is done with Pittsburgh and possibly the NFL because you think he's so terrible. And your latest attempt to provide some "proof" of that was your belief that the Steelers would take someone in rounds 2 or 3 of the draft. When that didn't happen, you said they'd take Turbin, Polk or Miller. That didn't happen either. Now you're touting Chris Rainey I guess. Have fun with that. I'm not stalking you. I'm just pointing out how far off you've been with your predictions. I normally don't do that to people on this board, but you like to beat your chest louder than most.

:lmao:Seriously? Yep, let the 25 year old who has 2 1k seasons under his belt go, and let's roll with the 27 year old who has started 2 games in his career - I am sure he can carry the load.Yes, I am sure that's exactly what the Steelers are thinking. :loco:

Mendenhall will not get another contract with the Steelers. He will not produce viable fantasy stats in 2012. Mark it down.
Exactly. I dont think Redman is the longterm answer but I dont think the steelers sign mendy next season. Health and timing will determine rhis season but Tomlin and co seem content wirh these horses

Hes coming off an acl and a contract year. Not exactly going out on a limb there.I think hes a great buy low, whether hes on the steelers or not. Hes played behind terrible lines in pitts. Pitts addressed the o line this weekend for a multitude of reasons.

Lets not forget about Batch and Chad Spann... Maybe the Steelers really like this core of rbs that they have... As a Spann owner Im excited to see if he has a shot to be in the mix...

Forced to be content. They did not have any cap room to bring in a FA and they had other holes to fill in the draft.

Chris Rainey = Dante Hall

Hardly a threat to take significant carries, even if he does work his way into a 3rd down back role (which is far from a certainty).

He's nothing like Barry Foster...
Other than they both play in the NFL and neither have ever been in my kitchen, I can't think of any similarities.
During the draft they interviewed Tomlin on NFLN and he commented on Rainey. He said that Haley would be able to use him like he had McCluster in KC, which doesn't make me particularly excited about his fantasy prospects. Maybe Rainey has some value in ppr, but I'll be watching closely in training camp to see how things get sorted out between Dwyer, Batch, and Spann. One of these three ends up having some decent value this season, imo. Right now I'd probably roll with Dwyer, as if he hits I think he has the highest upside of these three, just imo.

I feel so owned because the current date is 4-30-2013. The Steelers did not draft a running back in the 2012 draft. Mendenhall ran for 1200 rushing yards in 2012 with 32 receptions for 230 yards. He then re-upped with Pitt for a monster contract. Time warp.
No one expects Mendenhall to run for 1200 yards in 2012. He'll likely start on the PUP list and so will likely miss half of the season if he plays at all. That doesn't mean he won't be with Pittsburgh is 2013. It is just too early to say and too many things can happen.

A lot of things can happen, sure, but in the end either he signs with the Steelers or he does not. The Steelers have a lot of free agents next year and no cap room. We are playing a game of forecasting because we all want an asset that is going to increase in value. What happens when you dare mention a player is overvalued? The hype train threads get a lot of activity and "thumbs up" because you are supporting a player. If you discuss popular guys whose star is falling, you are bound to hear about it from the dynasty owners, homers, and hovering stalkers. It is what it is.

It's very simple, Mexico was spot on, you were owned.

 "Star is falling"??

The dude is 24 years old. In 3 seasons as a starter he's got 3300+ yards rushing and 30 TDs. He's going to start the year on the PUP list - fine, he may not be fantasy relevant until the latter part of 2012, but two points:

1) He still holds very good value as a 24/25 year old who averages 1100 rushing yards and 10 TDs behind a pretty bad o-line - even if you have to wait for half the season (as he will be drafted accordingly), for a borderline RB1 or RB2 with good upside - especially as the Steelers drafted O-lineman like crazy.

2) He still holds good value in keeper/dynasty format, even if he ends up on another team.

At 24/25 his star is hardly falling - taking a temporary dip due to the injury, sure - but falling? Please.

Benson would be nice depth behind Redman if the price is right. Even at this point, I like him more than Dwyer.
I could see this but I think the Steelers are fine with the RBs they have. No one had been beating Benson's door down and Mewelde Moore and a few other veterans are still unsigned. Barring an injury I have the feeling they don't bring in any veteran RBs until camp.I think Redman has a goldden opportunity to have a really big year. He is the undisputed #1 back and the line should be leaps and bounds better than anything that he or Mendenhall has run behind before.

Im with plastik.

But ill take it a step further....once they give Dwyer the ball 7-10 times after about 2 games...its all over.

Theres a big reason theu didnt draft a rb imo...that reason is dwyer....but they are not gonna hype him up...cause redman earned this chance...dwyer will steal it.

This is my "bank on it" of the year. Best part is...the kids been in the league 2 years...and hes 22

Eh, I wouldnt put too much money in that bank. Barring a major injury to Redman, he's going to get 75% of the touches. Dwyer, Rainey, and Batch will split up the leftover 25%

geez what an idiot this GLHM... Spann? really? He just got waived!

Ive said it in other threads, if the Steelers were to sign a FA RB, it would be a 3rd down rb or a RB that excels in Pass protection/receiving out of backfield.

Ladainian Tomlinson, Thomas Jones, Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams or Joseph Addai are "Big name FA's" that make the most sense (but prob wont happen). Look for someone along the mold of Mewelde Moore to be brought in, Justin Forsett, Jerrious Norwood, Earnest Graham or Marcel Reese may be the type of guys the Steelers would bring in for a look-see.

Steelers have several "big backs" on the roster (Redman, Clay, Mendenhall and Dwyer to an extent). I can guarantee that they will not bring Benson in.

Batch's roster spot looking shaky too with addition of Rainey and above average play from Dwyer/Clay last season

Well, if Mendy does come back for the 2nd half of the season, he'll have his 2 games vs. Baltimore without Suggs.....just saying.

One year later and Mendenhall has nearly no value. I was so owned.
