Message to my restaurant waitress.... (1 Viewer)

No, it is NOT ok to come to my table masking what is probably either alcohol or extreme body odor with gratuitous amounts of god know what kind of perfume when my wife is in a heightened olifactory state. It was so strong it lingered long after she left. My wife literally lost her appetite after the second time she came through. We notified the manager nicely to have another manager seat us, but by then she was borderline queasy...especially after her walking by time after time to serve the other customers in her section. She has her overcoat taken off after the manager spoke to her but it did not make a difference. I asked if she wanted to move to another section, but by then she just wanted to leave and get our food to go. The restaurant did, however, not charge us for the $56.00 bill, and yes, I still left a tip for the relief-waitress who was very nice, although completely clueless about the situation.

Not trying to be a jerk, serious question. Why would you go out to eat if your wife is in this heightened state? I would think a restaurant, which is likely to be filled with a bevy of different odors, is the last place she would want to be?

Serious question: What?
Another way of saying a heightened sense of smell.
Yes, thanks. Is this a temporary medical condition? Is she pregnant? Is there something else obvious that I should be getting here?
Yeah, what?

And can you explain at what point the waitress was supposed to know that PatriotJohn's wife was in a heightened olifactory state? You seem to think it was when she was getting ready for work that night.

For the record, it was a pizza joint, and even I was getting nauseated by the perfume....it was beyond strong. I'm sorry....nobody in the food service industry should be putting that much perfume on.

I am calling b/s here. Hopefully your wife is not always like this.

Especially when your wife is in a heightened sense of smell.

I'm not understanding the overwhelming backlash against the OP. I've had waitresses wearing perfume and/or just got back from a smoke break and it's not what you want to smell when eating.

A couple weeks ago I got a coffee from DD and the worker must have put scented hand lotion on right before making it and putting the lid on. The smell was all over the cup and lid that I had to throw it out.
