Miami Players Are Revolting. (1 Viewer)

Considering it hasn't been done until recently with the Browns, there's really no precedent for this kind of total tank.
Absurd.  The players and coaches will not be trying to lose games - they all have jobs to try to keep.  They are rebuilding their roaster from ground zero.  There is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

Here's a question for the gamblers - does Mia just get 14 points all season?  And do you still bet against them?

Maybe but the management is making it extremely unlikely for them to win any games

They are shedding some high salary caps, and bad fits, and they just got two 1sts and a 2nd for a pretty good OL.  They are definitely not trying to win the super bowl this year.  Thats not where they are.  They had no shot at even winning their division.  If thats where you are as a team, when why would you do anything other than what they are doing?

I just read that they are going to be around $130M under the cap next year.  If they draft Tua, a right tackle is more important than a left.  La'el Collins is a free agent next year.  Think Dallas will be able to pay him after Zeke, Jaylon, Coop, and Dak?  Fins will be able to sign whoever they want (if they are willing to come to Miami) in free agency, and they have a gazillion picks, all at low salaries for 4-5 years.  Rosen/Tua (or Herbert)  is a young and inexpensive QB room with loads of potential.  They have put themselves in a terrific position to rebuild in my opinion.  As a long time fan, this seems like the first time in 20 years that they have actually shown any level of competence - and ironically it will probably lead to an 0-16 season.  I feel better right now about their future than I have in a long time though.  Weird.

Flores doesn’t strike me as a guy who is willing to go out and lose games on purpose. This team is going to give an honest effort. They are obviously not a very talented group so a 4 or 5 win season would probably be the ceiling.

They should put Flores on the IR for a year in order to get Tua

Agreed. Also, I think his defensive scheme is much better than last year, trying to use speed and versatility on defense. They play many unproven QBs: Allen & Darnold twice, Lamar, Haskins, Jacoby, and maybe Jones and Finley in games 15 & 15.

Can they get in trouble for doing the obvious tank job?
The coach is proactive, but Armando Salguero's twitter followers are skeptical about whether they're tanking:

  • Brian Flores says trading Laremy Tunsil was in best interest of Dolphins. Says "no, we're not" tanking.
  • Brian Flores says Kenny Stills activism off-field and on sideline was "not at all" part of decision to trade him.

Sometimes really bad teams can have a few fantasy gems among receivers/TEs because they are always behind and have to pass a ton.  Does this make Parker, Gesicki and maybe Preston Williams good fantasy bets?

Albert Wilson while healthy, maybe Williams as an all-or-nothing desperation play.  I don’t trust the other two to reliably catch even if targetted in blowouts.

Gesicki hasn't showed anything and Parker has underperformed or been injured most of the last 4 years. Preston Williams has potential, but he's an UDFA. His path to relevance is a great performance early or a Parker injury or underperformance.

Except extending Parker for two years LOL. Lord man.

I know he's been mentioned, but the only good pass catcher on the team is Wilson.

Indy had a good luck at it for luck a few years back but it wasnt this obvious.
Eh the Colts mostly did it by playing Painter almost all year until the end. It was fairly obvious.

Fitz & Rosen automatically give the Phins a better chance of winning any given game.

PFF rated the Dolphins as having the worst line after the preseason was just completed. And that was before the Tunsil trade. Only one player on the line is likely to be playing next year. This is per a link I saw earlier on twitter.

At QB, Miami is playing someone who threw for 400 yards in 3 straight games - one of those balls must be in the HOF. And later they'll play a 10th overall draft pick from the year before, which cost them a 2nd. The defense might be better than last year, partly due to scheme. The oline is a mess, but they'll win some games and play hard. The oline model - trying to find diamonds in the rough later in the draft - is from the Patriots.

That model is not "from" the Patriots. They're just better at it than most teams.

WR pool was drying up by the time I got to my last, so I went with Wilson. Could technically be a WR1. (On Dolphins, not a fantasy team. )

It's hard to find good LTs off the scrap-pile: From Armando Salguero:

Flo calls new LT Julien Davenport a "good young tackle." Davenport allowed 12 sacks last season and either 66 or 71 QB pressures last season, depending on metrics you use.

Actually, Davenport was part of the Tunsil trade.

If I had to guess, I'd.say Drake because he is a good receiver, they are always going to be playing from behind and Miami's QBs are going to regularly have to dump off the ball in under two seconds if they want to survive past the week 1 National Anthem.
