Michael Griffin - rate him (1 Viewer)

how would you rate him heading into this year? Personally, I think he is going to be very good this year. Last season they switched him to FS near the end of the season and he had a nice amount of tackles during that time.

This topic is general enough to have value to everyone, so I'll move it into the main forum.

Griffin is tough to handicap for me. Definitely had a big second half of the season, but you'd have to think that a healthy Chris Hope will cut into those numbers. With two solid OLBs in front of him as well, I think he's risky as anything more than a DB4 with upside.

looks like mfl still has him listed as a cb
That will probably change after the preseason starts. I believe the NFL requires player designations just prior to the season starting. I'm sure he will end up being designated as a safety by the time the season rolls around. My 2 cents.

I hope not, but you're probably right.I drafted him in a league where CBs and Ss are split. So if he keeps that CB designation he has a good bit of value. I miss the MFL of days past that never changed player designations no matter what :lmao:

Michael Griffin will have a full camp at safety to prepare for the season which is only going to help him. The organization and the Titan's players respect his talent and see him as a sideline to sideline playmaker with a great deal of potential. He's made some impressive plays so far in camp as well.

i think griffin is a legit talent... he was known as a viscious hitter at texas & was among the rookie DB leaders in INTs... & that was when they started him at CB & he gradually emerged as a starting safety...

i agree with jene on a few things... for those who like to look at splits, his 2nd half was intriguing... when that happens to vets & i can't find an identifiable reason, it makes me wonder if it was flukey... but in the case of a rookie who switched positions & didn't start until the season progressed, that is kind of what you would expect if you had a talented rookie who is improving while he developes, & makes me a little more confident in projecting his second half over 16 games... hard to say how reproducible his INT outburst will prove (i think he had 3 INTs in about a three week span in the 2nd half, not doubt boosting his projection), but it is at least suggestive that he has ball skills & is capable of making plays when given the opportunity...

divisional opponent IND is no stranger to the passing game, & JAX & HOU look to be improving here, so he could have some opportunity...

also like jene, i'm concerned with the tackling ability of all three levels of the defense (not just the front seven... & i'm of course referring to how GOOD it is)... bullock had a steep dropoff last season largely due to this...

How does everyone feel about Griffin now? He has 6 and 7 tackles in the two games with a sack and an interception. I play in an extremely big play league and am considering picking him up, but I haven't had a chance to see Carolina play.

Guy has been money so far. And was money at the end of last year. Methinks he is a player to get a hold of if at all possible...
