Michael Strahan berates female reporter (1 Viewer)

I think what Bri and I are saying is that if the journalist just acted with more tact, she would not have burned that bridge with him. he has the right to not talk to her.....most athletes could care less if the media is around.

It may not be right, but I would bet it is like that for many pro athletes. For many of them, if journalists play nice, they will play nice with them.

What I think is interesting is that the same reporter (I think) asked Brandon Short about Strahan's comments and from what I remember, Short said he agreed with what he said. That seems to be lost in this entire ordeal, but I still think it is somewhat newsworthy

If journalists "play nice", then they swallow every hokey story and disingenuous explanation offered by players and team management, and they're nothing more than public relations agents. I don't agree that public relations should be the function of the media.

You know usually I think the athlete is in the wrong but in this case I believe that the press is going overboard on the Giants. First Tiki then Strahan. These are both stand up well spoken guys. Get the press out of the locker room.

Actually this story is all about public relations, it's about her actions and his reaction to it.

No, actually, Strahan was mouthing off about Burress first and he must be a dumb### if he thinks that kind of thing won't get out.The reporting was doing her job, and if she doesn't get another interview with Strahan, so be it. I'm tired of pro athletes acting like babies.Plus Charlie Rose is a talk show, totally different format.

I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned earlier in this thread but does anyone think that this would be such a big story if it wasn't a WOMAN reporter?

I think alot of people have a problem because he was bullying some poor defenselss woman.....

FIRST to WFAN not to this woman, it had nothing to do with her. What? He said it on the radio, how would it not get out?

saying he'll talk thursday is being a baby?

totally different part of the post where the previous poster commented about having to swallow a hard topic if the reporter was "playing nice". He's nice and asks tough questions in a proper manner. That was the reply to that statement

Anyone catch the video of this?
Yeah, I did actually. He seemed angry, and dodged answering legit questions by talking louder, acting angry, and making accusations. He seemed quite the fool. I'd summarize it the way Redman did.
Strahan's acting like a little ##### because he's actually being held accountable for things he said publicly.
OT, but has anyone else ever noticed how much Strahan talks like Mike Tyson?
Agree he talks a lot like Mike Tyson. The video was pretty funny. He sure looked kinda psycho in the beginning while he was stuffing his face with a donut/sandwich/whatever he was eating.

This story is about Michael Strahan being held responsible for something he said about a teammate. The only reason to say the media is causing the problem is to deflect scrutiny and blame from Strahan, both which he deserves.

Some people are going to defend Strahan and you're not going to changet their mind. Strahan called out a teammate (and perhaps rightly so). When he didn't feel like discussing it with the reporter, she did the next logical thing; get a comment from the player in question. Any reporter worth their press pass would have done the exact same thing. It was Strahan's initial comments that pissed off Burress. Not the fact that a reporter was asking him about it. If Burress had said hey, no problem. We're cool as a team. Then I'd say the media invented a story. But Burress was upset at Strahan. And therein lies the Giants problems - players are divided. Don't say the media divided them. Strahan opened his mouth. He wasn't pushed for the comments or baited into it. He chose to say what he said and he did it over the radio. He had time to think about what he wanted to say and he said it.Yes, he first told the reporter he only spoke on Thursdays. But to then call her out in front of all the other media was rediculous. "Look me in the eye when you ask". Hey Mike, she tried....you walked away!! Don't say you're a man - act like one.
